LSU loses out on 4-star wide receiver to Missouri

LSU missed out on the Courtney Crutchfield sweepstakes.

LSU missed out on the [autotag]Courtney Crutchfield[/autotag] sweepstakes as the four-star wide receiver announced his commitment to playing for the Missouri Tigers on Tuesday.

Crutchfield had narrowed his list of schools down to LSU, Missouri, Arkansas and Auburn. He was previously committed to Arkansas until he de-committed from the Hogs on Nov. 4. There was still a chance that Arkansas could come away with him in the end but Eli Drinkwitz swooped in and took Crutchfield away.

The Missouri Tigers are on fire in the recruiting trail lately, not just at the high school ranks but also in the transfer portal. It seems like a new player is transferring to either Missouri or Ole Miss every other day. The Tigers had a 10-win season in 2023 and they have the easiest schedule in the SEC next season as the college football playoffs expand to 12 teams.

I am not a betting man, but I would say that the odds are high that they make the playoffs next fall.

Top recruit in Arkansas, a four-star, spurns Razorbacks for Mizzou

Courtney Crutchfield was committed to Arkansas for months before decommitting in November. He made Mizzou official Tuesday.

Pine Bluff wide receiver Courtney Crutchfield was the top-rated player on the Class of 2024 Arkansas commitment list for months. Then, in early November, he said he was re-opening recruitment.

Fast-forward six weeks and the player on which the Razorbacks had hung their proverbial hat officially spurned Arkansas. Crutchfield committed to the Hogs’ biggest (sort of) rival, Missouri, on Tuesday, just one day before early signing day.

Crutchfield, the No. 2-ranked prospect in the Natural State, is the second top-five recruit from Arkansas to commit to Missouri, joining Valley View’s Bryan Huff. The Razorbacks themselves have two of the five in No. 1 Charleston Collins and No. 4 Braylen Russell. Quarterback Walker White of Little Rock Christian is committed to Auburn.

The loss of Crutchfield was not unexpected, but was another blow in what has been a poor offseason for Arkansas. The Razorbacks hired offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino less than a month ago, but have since lost four commitments from their recruiting class and are ranked 14th out of 16 SEC teams.

2024 4-star wide receiver releases his final four schools as commitment nears

When Courtney Crutchfield commits on the Dec. 19, Brian Kelly is hoping that he chooses the right Tigers.

One of the best wide receivers in the 2024 recruiting class recently de-committed from the Arkansas Razorbacks and has announced a commitment date of Dec. 19. He recently released his final four schools that he will be considering committing to and LSU is one of them.

LSU joins Arkansas, Auburn and Missouri as the final four schools that will have hats on the table at Courtney Crutchfield’s signing day. According to On3, Missouri is a 66% favorite to land Crutchfield. According to 247Sports, the Missouri Tigers have received two Crystal Ball projections to land him.

Brian Kelly is hoping that he can fly in under the radar and come away with Crutchfield. Crutchfield is a 6-foot-2, 175-pound, four-star wide receiver from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he plays for Pine Bluff High School. Pine Bluff finished the season 10-3 and lost to Shiloh Christian in the 5A state semifinals.

When Crutchfield commits on Dec. 19, Kelly is hoping that he chooses the right Tigers.

Recruiting Roundup: 4 new players for Arkansas among weekend commitments

Nobody made out better than the Arkansas Razorbacks, who managed to add four new defensive recruits.

Power Five programs had an appetite for defense over the weekend, as most of the prospects who made their college commitments play on that side of the ball. LSU added another four-star safety to their collection and Clemson picked up another blue-chip DL. Meanwhile, Alabama and Oklahoma also added four-star prospects of their own.

Nebraska got the biggest name with former NFL running back Willis McGahee’s son. However, nobody made out better than the Arkansas Razorbacks, who managed to add four new recruits. Here’s a review of some notable weekend college commitments.

Four-star ATH Courtney Crutchfield commits to Arkansas

Sam Pittman went 3/3 on adding 2024 four-star recruits on Friday after Pine Bluff native Courtney Crutchfield committed to Arkansas.

[autotag]Arkansas football[/autotag] just added another big-time commitment for the 2024 recruiting class. Four-star athlete [autotag]Courtney Crutchfield[/autotag] announced that he was committing to the Razorbacks in a ceremony at Mills High School in Little Rock.

Crutchfield, a Pine Bluff native, chose the Razorbacks over LSU, Oklahoma, Auburn, Iowa State, Missouri, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas A&M and others.

The 6-2, 175-pound two-way athlete played both sides of the ball for Pine Bluff last year. At wide receiver, he recorded 17 catches for 517 yards and nine touchdowns. As a defensive back, he recorded 30 tackles, three tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and an interception.

Crutchfield is the third 2024 recruit to announce his commitment to the Razorbacks on Friday. He joins Jaden Allen, who committed in the morning, and Charleston Collins, who committed just minutes before Crutchfield.

With the addition of Crutchfield, Arkansas now has eight pledges for the 2024 recruiting class and seven of them are rated as four-star prospects by at least one major recruiting outlet.

[autotag]Sam Pittman[/autotag] and his staff are putting together a stellar class that could have the potential to be Arkansas’ highest-rated in the recruiting rankings era.

Arkansas lands four-star CB Jaden Allen for 2024

Arkansas added another four-star commit from the 2024 recruiting class, and they are likely to add to that very soon.

Four-star cornerback [autotag]Jaden Allen[/autotag] has officially committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Allen made his decision official on Twitter Friday morning, choosing Arkansas over Alabama, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, LSU, USC, Michigan State and others. He was initially committed to Texas for over a year before decommitting from the Longhorns in February.

Arkansas was reportedly the first team to reach out to Allen after his de-commitment, and that played a role in getting him to Fayetteville.

Allen’s commitment to the Hogs makes him the sixth of the 2024 recruiting cycle. He is also the fifth commit to hold a four-star rating from one of the four major recruiting outlets.

Next year’s recruiting class is shaping up to be an impressive haul for [autotag]Sam Pittman[/autotag] and they’re expected to get more commits on Friday in the form of Charleston Collins and Courtney Crutchfield.

Oklahoma set to host over 20 prospects in Norman for Junior Day

Oklahoma is set to host over 20 prospects this weekend in Norman for their March 4th Junior Day,

While there’s no fancy title for it, Norman will be jumping this weekend as Oklahoma will host many prospects from multiple classes. While Oklahoma previously had a Junior Day earlier this year, they’ll be having another round of prospects on campus for an unofficial visit.

The 2024 class has yet to bear any fruits for Oklahoma, but with the sheer number of prospects from said class in town, it’s tough to imagine this drought lasts much longer. If we learned one thing from the last recruiting class under Brent Venables and Co., the Sooners might not start fast, but that doesn’t matter because it’s not a sprint. Recruiting is truly a marathon. And the Sooners are more than willing to go the distance and come out on top.

That said, we’ve compiled a list of all the 2024 names expected on campus this Saturday. Some of the names are players that have previously visited OU, while others are visiting Oklahoma for the first time since receiving an offer.

2024 Prospects

2025 prospects

The list is packed with talent across the board. While some names are just popping up on the Sooners’ radar, Oklahoma has a real shot at making impressions and strengthening bonds with players they already have built relationships.

First impressions can go a long way, so Oklahoma will look to impress this weekend. Names like [autotag]Michael Hawkins[/autotag] and [autotag]Williams Nwaneri[/autotag] stick out because the Sooners have been recruiting them heavily since last year. Newcomers like [autotag]KJ Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Bennett Warren[/autotag], and others are getting to experience Norman for the first time.

LSU offers 2024 4-star wide receiver from Pine Bluff

LSU is attempting to steal one of the best recruits from Arkansas right out of the Razorbacks’ backyard.

LSU is trying to take one of the best wide receivers in the country away from the Arkansas Razorbacks’ backyard.

[autotag]Courtney Crutchfield[/autotag] is a four-star, 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide receiver from the recruiting class of 2024. He is from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he plays for Pine Bluff High School.

The Pine Bluff Zebras finished the 2022 football season 5-4 with a loss to  Robinson at the end of the season.

Film Analysis: Crutchfield is a wide receiver with excellent hands and solid route-running ability. Pulling him away from Arkansas will be challenging, but if anyone can do it, Brian Kelly can.

Oklahoma offers 2024 DB prospect Courtney Crutchfield

Oklahoma offers 2024 DB Courtney Crutchfield out of Arkansas.

Oklahoma continues to spread offers around the country for their 2024 and 2025 class. One of their most recent was extended by Coach Brandon Hall to 2024 defensive back prospect Courtney Crutchfield.

Flying under the radar at this point in the recruiting cycle. Crutchfield is currently unranked. However, the 6-foot-2 two-way player is an explosive athlete.

He is a certified scorer on the hardwood too. Considering that Hall extended the offer, it’s likely Crutchfield is being recruited to play safety or defensive back in some capacity.

Oklahoma is Crutchfield’s most notable offer. Other scholarship opportunities include Iowa State, Memphis, Arkansas, Missouri, and Vanderbilt.

Crutchfield is a dynamic athlete that wons with speed and length on offense while having the ability to play in the slot, single high, and outside as a boundary corner on defense. He’s a versatile player, which fits the makeup of previous defensive backs that Venables likes to stack his defense with.

While there’s no immediate time frame for any movement in this recruitment yet, this feels like the type of find that could end up being a great by the time he signs.
