5 Alabama football early signees who are being undervalued

These five signees are being undervalued by most

Wednesday’s early signing day brought a lot of drama for fans around the country, but for the most part, it was business as usual for [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Most of Alabama’s signees were already committed to the Tide before signing day, but the flips of running back Kevin Riley and athlete Aeryn Hampton were pleasant surprises for Alabama fans.

As the dust settles from Wednesday’s excitement, we now have a clear look at the freshman class for the Crimson Tide. While quarterback Julian Sayin and athlete Jaylen Mbakwe will steal most of the attention, there are a handful of signees who are being undervalued by most.

Here are a few that stand out:

Alabama lands commitment from 2024 4-star DL Steve Mboumoua

Alabama continues to have success during the early signing period. On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from 2024 four-star defensive lineman Steve Mboumoua.

The good news continues to pour in for the Alabama football program. On Wednesday, the Crimson Tide landed a commitment from 2024 defensive lineman Steve Mboumoua. Mboumoua chose the Crimson Tide over Mississippi State and Florida.

Mboumoua, a native of Cameroon, was originally a 2025 prospect. However, he reclassified and will enroll at Alabama as a part of the ’24 recruiting class.

The 6-foot-3, 275 pound prospect has been recruited by the Alabama coaching staff to play defensive end. He will play a role similar to that of Alabama senior Tim Smith Jr. Mboumoua is a physical presence that is sure to add firepower to Alabama’s defensive line room heading into the 2024-2025 season.

UGA football offers 4-star edge Steve Mboumoua

UGA football, other elite programs extend a scholarship offers to four-star Steve Mboumoua

Steve Mboumoua has reclassified to the class of 2024. Mboumoua is ranked as a four-star recruit, per On3.

Recently, the Georgia Bulldogs extended a scholarship offer to Mboumoua, who is an edge rusher. He is the No. 230 recruit in the country and the No. 20 player at his position.

Mboumoua, who has excellent strength, is a rising prospect in the recruiting world. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound edge recently gained scholarship offers from Oregon, Texas A&M and Florida.

The talented pass rusher played high school football for Notre Dame in Quebec, Canada.

The four-star defender impressed Georgia coaches at a camp in July. He announced his scholarship offer from the University of Georgia via social media:

Gators offer class of 2025 EDGE that could reclassify

From Cameroon to Canada to the Swamp? International edge rusher Steve Mboumoua wrapped up his first trip to Gainesville with a scholarship offer.

The Florida Gators were the very last team to get Canadian edge rusher [autotag]Steve Mboumoua[/autotag] on his recent college tour, according to Swamp247’s Blake Alderman.

Mboumoua, a native of Cameroon that moved to Canada before high school, is already 19 but is academically a rising junior. He’s in the process of reclassifying to get to campus a year early, but he’s still just beginning his recruiting process.

“I am 2025, but looking for 2024 now,” he said. “Moving from 2025 to 2024. It would be too long to go back and play two more seasons. Waste of time. I am done in January.”

Mboumoua has collected offers from Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi State, Penn State and Texas A&M among others, so the competition will be fierce for his services at JACK linebacker. The Gators offered him on Saturday after the Grill in the Ville cookout.

A combination of speed and size makes him an intriguing edge prospect. Mboumoua is 6-foot-four inches tall and 260 pounds.

The coaching made a strong first impression on Mboumoua, but he doesn’t have a top five or anything to give out just yet. Securing an official visit during the season is the natural next step in the process if he’s going to reclassify.

ESPN gives Mboumoua a four-star grade and ranks him No. 210 overall in the class of 2025.
