Ohio State recruiting scouting report: Aaron Scott

Ohio State recruiting scouting report: Aaron Scott #GoBucks

Ohio State football had another dominant recruiting class and was a consensus top-five class in the country. Once again, the class features more than a few heavy hitters on the offensive side of the football, but one of the best commits may be on the defensive side of the ball in the instate homegrown, Aaron Scott.

Name: Aaron Scott

High School: Springfield (Springfield, OH)

Height: 6 feet, 2 inch

Weight: 190 pounds

Position: Cornerback

Strengths

The first thing you notice about Aaron Scott is his ideal size and length to play cornerback in the Big Ten and when you dive into his film, it is very clear he knows how to use that length and size advantage as well. Scott is a fairly technically advanced freshman with the knowledge and play style to see the field immediately.

Weaknesses

It is really hard to pick apart Scott’s game, but if I am forced to nitpick, he was not the most dynamic weapon once he was able to bring in the interception, which leads me to believe he won’t be returning any punts or kicks in the future. One other trait that needs to be monitored is his speed. Scott did not appear to be blazing fast on film, but he is not slow by any means.

Expectations

Aaron Scott is ready to play for Ohio State right now. Scott is big enough and physical enough to get by on that alone. Scott has the potential to grow into an All-American caliber cornerback and should see the field sooner rather than later.

Watch: Ohio State football commits in action during opening week

Multiple future Buckeyes had standout performances #GoBucks

This past weekend was the beginning of high school football and our first glimpse at Ohio State football commitments back in action.

We already highlighted 2026 wide receiver commit Chris Henry Jr., but that was because he played on Thursday when not many other teams were on the gridiron. It wasn’t just Henry Jr. that got some earlier love, 2024 quarterback Air Noland was on the national spotlight and helped lead his team to a huge season opening win.

The majority of the rest of the class got their seasons started on Friday and Saturday and here are some of the top performances from Ohio State commits.

Ohio State social media reacts to Aaron Scott commitment

I mean, who tied to Ohio State wasn’t ready to celebrate on social media? #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program got a huge BOOM! of a commitment on Sunday when the best prospect in Ohio, 4-star 2024 cornerback, Aaron Scott Jr, announced his commitment to the Buckeyes.

The news has a lot of impacts, not the least of which is a stiff arm to Michigan’s recruiting efforts to land the in-state recruit. It was a long, thought-out process for Scott, and Buckeye Nation was awfully excited that one of the best cornerbacks in the country decided to stay home rather than defect.

Scott adds to an already fantastic 2024 OSU recruiting class that still has a chance to land some pretty big fish still out there before the early signing period in December.

We decided to grab some of the best social media reactions to Scott picking Ohio State over Michigan and Oregon to share them for your reading pleasure.

Happy scrolling … and happy celebrating along with everyone.

Ohio State football recruiting: What Aaron Scott’s commitment means

Scott’s commitment means so much for Buckeye Nation #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] scored a massive recruiting win on Sunday evening, when 2024 in-state cornerback [autotag]Aaron Scott Jr[/autotag] committed to the Buckeyes.

His announcement kept all of us on the edge of our seats, as it looked for a moment like he was going to pick Michigan, only to pull an Ohio State jersey out of a Wolverine backpack that happened to be the last item on the table.

The verbal commitment caps a month where the Buckeyes made a concerted effort to build defensive commitments. Another Scott, Justin, committed earlier in the month, giving the Buckeyes bookend Scott’s for July.

Aaron’s commitment is huge for multiple reasons and let’s take a look what it means.

Scout’s view: Ohio State’s newest commitment, 2024 cornerback Aaron Scott

A Buckeye Sunday evening BOOM! #GoBucks

It hasn’t been the recruiting stretch that [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] envisioned, but they made up for some of it on Sunday evening as in-state cornerback [autotag]Aaron Scott[/autotag] made his verbal commitment to the Buckeyes.

Not only was it a huge recruiting win for Ohio State, but the Buckeyes aren’t going to have to face Scott as one of his other finalists was Michigan. It’s a two-pronged win for Ohio State, keeping one of the best in-state prospects home and away from its archrival.

After watching Scott’s junior film, it’s very easy to see why both schools coveted the cornerback. Find out below what I say when watching his highlights and watch what to expect from the future Buckeye.

4-star CB Aaron Scott announces college commitment

4-star cornerback Aaron Scott, the No. 3 CB in the 2024 class, announced his college commitment on Sunday afternoon.

One of the best remaining uncommitted defenders left in the 2024 class announced his college commitment on Sunday afternoon.

Four-star cornerback Aaron Scott committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, choosing them over the Oregon Ducks, Penn State Nittany Lions, Texas Longhorns and Michigan Wolverines.

Scott is rated by 247Sports as the No. 34 player overall in the 2024 class, and the No. 3 CB. He took multiple visits to Eugene over the past year, but ended up staying close to home in the state of Ohio.

At the moment, the Ducks have the 12th-ranked class in the 2024 cycle, with multiple high-end defensive backs leading the way.

Aaron Scott Jr.’s Recruiting Profile

BOOM! Ohio State beats out Michigan, Oregon, lands 4-star cornerback Aaron Scott Jr

Ohio State got a big BOOM! today. #GoBucks

The best Ohio prospect in the 2024 class is staying home.

Aaron Scott Jr, out of Springfield, Ohio, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Sunday, spurning Michigan and Oregon along the way. At 6-foot, and 170-pounds, Scott is ranked as the No. 5 cornerback and 52nd overall recruit in the 2024 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

It’s a huge win on the recruiting trail for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes. Despite some Crystal Balls showing him as an Ohio State lean, it was a real battle with Michigan — and even Oregon — right in the thick of it. All indications point to it being a razor-thin OSU win.

Scott makes the 19th verbal commitment for the 2024 class and will no doubt bolster the Buckeyes’ standing as the No. 2 recruiting class in the country according to almost every recruiting service out there.

More than that though, Ohio State has to start stacking defensive backs to get the defensive backfield back among the elite it has been throughout history. Adding Scott to a class that also has 4-star prospects Bryce West, Garrett Stover, and Miles Lockhart already in the fold, goes a long way toward that.

There are still plenty of opportunities out there for OSU to add to its class for 2024, but this helps stem the tide of some recent bad mo-jo as of late. Scott will continue to make a fantastic class that much better and hopefully build back some momentum Ohio State had earlier in the spring.

2024 Ohio CB Aaron Scott makes his commitment decision

It was an intense battle that went down to the wire.

Michigan football put all of its eggs in the Ohio-based cornerback basket in the 2024 recruiting cycle.

First up was long shot Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville four-star Bryce West, who made several visits to Ann Arbor before committing to Ohio State on his official visit to Columbus. Then it was Cincinnati (Ohio) Withrow four-star Terhyon Nichols, who officially visited but ultimately crossed the closer border and went to Kentucky. However, there’s one that the Wolverines coveted most of all: Springfield (Ohio) four-star Aaron Scott Jr.

Scott clearly favored the Wolverines at times in his recruitment, despite having 100% of 247Sports’ crystal balls indicating he’d end up in Columbus.

As we reported earlier, he told current Michigan football players and recruits that he fully intended to don a winged helmet, though that was before his official visit to OSU. A secondary source, who spoke with WolverinesWire on the condition of anonymity, said that following his visit to Columbus, he was unsure.

He made the decision to commit to his school of choice on his father’s birthday, which indicated he’d likely choose the Buckeyes, his father’s favorite team. However, he noted late in the process that he was unsure if he’d end up in Ann Arbor, Columbus or Eugene, Oregon.

On Sunday, Scott announced his decision live on Instagram. He chose to Ohio State.

Now that Michigan football has missed out on Scott, the Wolverines are without any clear options to reel in at cornerback in the 2024 cycle. While there are strong options at defensive back in general, such as safety Zaquon Patterson out of Florida, it’s unclear who the maize and blue will target specifically at corner. Michigan, as mentioned, missed out on West, and lost another major head-to-head battle against OSU when five-star defensive tackle Justin Scott surprised by choosing the Buckeyes over the Wolverines this summer.

Ohio State target Aaron Scott still ‘confused’ about where to go as commitment looms

We will find out on Sunday if Scott is a Buckeye #GoBucks

It is coming down to the wire for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] and its top remaining 2024 in-state target [autotag]Aaron Scott[/autotag].

The talented cornerback is down to three schools: Oregon, Michigan, and the Buckeyes. Scott has been torn between this decision, which is slated for this coming Sunday.

Scott has been very vocal on Twitter and continues to be, as just today he tweeted out that “even though it’s close, still confused about where I wanna go.” It’s understandably a massive decision for Scott, he’s clearly being pulled in different directions by different factors. That, or he’s just messing with fanbases.

The end is coming, and we will soon know where Scott will play during the next three to five years. Hopefully, he will be wearing the Scarlet and Gray during that time.

The 6-foot, 170-pound Scott is ranked as the No. 5 best corner and 52nd overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
