The 30-year-old wide receiver played at Georgia from 2011-2014. Conley still has excellent speed.

Former UGA TE Charlie Woerner impressing for 49ers

Former Georgia tight end Charlie Woerner is looking to have a bigger role for the San Francisco 49ers behind star tight end George Kittle

Former Georgia Bulldogs tight end Charlie Woerner had a fairly modest rookie season for the San Francisco 49ers in 2020. Woerner finished his rookie campaign with three catches for 36 yards.

Now, Woerner is looking to have a bigger role for the 49ers behind star tight end George Kittle. In preseason action, Woerner hauled in a 34-yard pass from 49ers rookie Trey Lance.

Woerner is turning some heads in San Francisco and appears to be set to receive more playing time in passing situations. Woerner was primarily a blocker for the 49ers last season.

The San Francisco 49ers drafted Woerner with the 190th pick of the 2020 NFL draft. He appeared in 54 games in four years at Georgia and started 19 games. Woerner tallied 34 receptions for 376 yards and 1 touchdown in his collegiate career.

Woerner has been making plays throughout training camp and should make the 49ers final roster again. The NFL game seems to have slowed down for him some in Year 2.

Twitter reacts as 49ers take Georgia TE Charlie Woerner

The San Francisco 49ers took Georgia football TE Charlie Woerner in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Here is the Twitter reactions.

On Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers selected Georgia tight end Charlie Woerner with the 190th overall pick in the sixth round of the NFL Draft.

It came as a bit of a surprise, as Woerner was viewed as a guy who was likely to go undrafted, but the 49ers took a shot on the former four-star out of Rabun County in Tiger, Georgia.

From 2016-2019, Woerner caught 34 passes from Jake Fromm. He tallied 376 yards and scored his lone touchdown last season against Georgia Tech.

He is primarily a run blocking tight end who is not afraid to get physical as you’ll see below.

Woerner is the nephew of former Georgia All-American defensive back Scott Woerner.

Here are some Twitter reactions to San Francisco taking the 6-foot-5, 245 pound Woerner:

The San Francisco 49ers took Georgia football TE Charlie Woerner in the sixth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

With the 190th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the San Francisco selected former Georgia tight end Charlie Woerner.

Woerner had to wait until the sixth round to hear his name called, but it did come as a pleasant surprise as he was seen as a guy who could have fallen out of the draft altogether.

Woerner (6-foot-5 245 pounds) came to Georgia as a four-star tight end in the class of 2016 out of Rabun County High School in Tiger, Georgia.

From 2016-2019, Woerner caught 34 passes from Jake Fromm. He tallied 376 yards and scored his lone touchdown last season against Georgia Tech.

Other than George Kittle, the 49ers don’t have much talent at the tight end position, so Woerner could come in and compete for that TE2 spot.

This past week, CampusLore was able to sit down with Georgia football great Mecole Hardman, who is enjoying a phenomenal rookie season with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Hardman was asked how Georgia prepared him for the NFL, and the speedster credited the level of competition in the SEC, how Kirby Smart ran the program and playing in front of 93,000 people.

Hardman’s rookie season concludes with a trip to the Super Bowl in Miami where he will face one of the most ferocious defenses the NFL has seen in a long time. For Kansas City to come out on top, it could use some big plays from its speedsters on the outside – Hardman and Tyreek Hill.

The Bowman, Georgia native is about to wrap up a rookie season that saw him take the NFL by storm with his blazing fast speed. In 2019, Hardman, a former 2nd round pick, reeled in 26 catches for 538 yards (20.7 YPC!!) and four touchdowns.

As a kick returner, Hardman makes both teams hold their breaths and punished the opposition who was daring enough to kick the ball his way. In addition to his six touchdowns, Hardman also added a 104 yard kick return.

Watch as former Georgia football WR Mecole Hardman, now with the Kansas City Chiefs, lights up a room ahead of the Super Bowl vs the 49ers.

Mecole Hardman may be one of the most entertaining individuals in the NFL.

To go along with his incredibly outgoing personality and friendly smile is his pure athleticism and skill as a wide receiver for the Kansas City Chiefs.

While in Miami, the Chiefs kept a camera rolling on Hardman to capture the rookie’s true personality. The media team managed to cut it down to just over four minutes, but I’m sure there was a lot of great footage that was excluded in the final video.

Enjoy as Hardman lights up a room down in Miami at Super Bowl LIV Opening Night at Marlins Park.

UGA football releases hype video for Mecole Hardman ahead of Super Bowl

Former Georgia Bulldog Mecole Hardman Jr. will be playing in Super Bowl LIV as his Kansas City Chiefs face the San Francisco 49ers.

Former Georgia Bulldog Mecole Hardman Jr. will be playing in Super Bowl LIV as his Kansas City Chiefs face off against the dominant San Francisco 49ers. Hardman Jr. will play a big-role in the game. He’ll have a chance to provide to Chiefs with a spark with a return, catch, or jet sweep.

Games like this are why the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Hardman in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. The Chiefs were looking for another explosive receiver in their passing game to compliment Tyreek Hill, Sammy Watkins, and Travis Kelce. Patrick Mahomes leads Kansas City’s offense, which is averaging 43 points per game in the playoffs.

The Chiefs face their toughest opponent of the 2020 postseason in the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers are allowing 15 points per game in the playoffs. San Francisco features an elite pass rush and a stout secondary including Richard Sherman, arguably the best corner in the NFL. Sherman will match up with Kelce, Watkins, and Hill often, but will rarely face Hardman. This will give Hardman a unique opportunity to make a splash play in a championship game. When Patrick Mahomes gets enough time, will he and Hardman be able to hook up for the next big Super Bowl moment?

Hardman has made numerous big-plays this season and could make the difference with one the Super Bowl. Georgia football released a hype video of Hardman’s explosive play-making ability ahead of the Super Bowl:
