Steve Sarkisian and his staff have been targeting the top overall prospect from the state of Washington in the 2023 recruiting class.

On Thursday, five-star defensive end Jayden Wayne announced via Twitter that he has been re-offered by the University of Texas. The 6-foot-5, 240-pound playmaker is rated the No. 1 overall prospect in Washington and a top-13 recruit in the country for the 2023 cycle according to 247Sports composite rankings.

He’s a two-sport athlete in football and basketball at Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington. Wayne claimed MVP honors among the nation’s best freshman players in 2019.

Wayne’s recruitment has picked up steam over the last month, including recent offers from Georgia, Texas A&M, Alabama, Michigan and Miami. Other Power Five programs such as Florida, Auburn, Penn State, LSU and Notre Dame offered Wayne earlier in the year.
