The New York Jets will look to go on their first winning streak of the season when they take on the Cleveland Browns at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

These two teams matched up last season in Week 2 in East Rutherford and the Browns took care of the Jets with ease, winning 23-3. Sam Darnold did not play in that game due to mononucleosis.

New York will likely only be down one player this week, as CB Javelin Guidry (knee) is doubtful. WR Jeff Smith (shoulder) is questionable.

Cleveland will be without G Wyatt Teller (ankle), while LB Malcolm Smith (hamstring) is questionable.

Here’s everything you need to know to watch Sunday’s game, as well as information for the rest of the Jets’ 2020 season.

Cleveland Browns (-10) at New York Jets

Browns delay flight to New Jersey after player tests positive for COVID-19

The Browns had a player test positive for COVID-19 and their flight to New Jersey has been delayed.

The Cleveland Browns have delayed their flight to New Jersey ahead of Sunday’s game against the Jets after one of their players tested positive for COVID-19.

Contract tracing is underway and Cleveland has closed its training facility. The team will hold meetings remotely.

The Jets and Browns are scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. No announcements have been made regarding the game’s status at this time.

Stay tuned for more updates.

Race to the bottom: Jaguars name Mike Glennon starting QB vs. Bears

The Jaguars have chosen Mike Glennon to be their starting quarterback this week against the Bears.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are making another change at quarterback this week when they take on Chicago.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jaguars are going back to Mike Glennon under center on Sunday against the Bears. This will be Glennon’s first chance to face the team he played for in 2017.

Jacksonville held an open quarterback competition in practice this week and Glennon beat out Gardner Minshew for the starting job.

Glennon has started in three games for the Jaguars this season and is 0-3. He has completed 61 percent of his passes and thrown for 600 yards. Glennon has three passing touchdowns to go along with three interceptions.

The Jets need Glennon to lead the Jaguars to their second win of the year on Sunday. The Jaguars currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft, while the Jets own the No. 2 overall pick.

If the Jaguars win or tie in one of their next two games and the Jets lose out, the Jets will have the No. 1 overall pick. Both teams have needs at quarterback and the odds on favorite to go first overall is Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence.

This week’s game against the Bears is probably the Jaguars’ best chance of winning a game with the Colts on deck for Week 17.

Jets make Marcus Maye their Curtis Martin Team MVP

Jets safety Marcus Maye won the Curtis Martin Team MVP award for the first time in his career.

Jets players have spoken: Marcus Maye is their team’s most valuable player.

Maye was rewarded with the Curtis Martin Team MVP award Thursday following a vote by his teammates. Maye’s name will be added to a wall at the Atlantic Health Jets Training Center that displays the names of past team MVPs.

Maye is the fourth safety to win the award. Dainard Paulson, Brian Washington and Jamal Adams are the other three Jets safeties who’ve taken home the team MVP award.

Maye, in his first season without Adams by his side in the secondary, has taken over as the leader of the Jets defense. Now in his fourth season, he’s the team’s longest-tenured, active player. Maye has been more vocal this season and shown a willingness to take on multiple roles on defense.

After spending most of his Jets career as the free safety, Maye took over as the strong safety for a stretch of games this season. He was playing the part that Adams had occupied for the last three seasons, playing up on the line of scrimmage. Additionally, Maye volunteered to return punts during training camp as well, but that never came to fruition during the regular season.

Statistically, Maye has put together the best season of his career. He’s registered 71 total tackles, two sacks, 11 pass breakups, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. The biggest play Maye made this season came in Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Rams. Maye broke up a pass to Gerald Everett on fourth down late in the game that allowed the Jets to get the ball back and run out the clock to pick up their first victory of the year.

The Jets also announced the winners of five other team awards on Thursday. Frank Gore won the Dennis Byrd/ Most Inspirational Player award, while Ryan Griffin got the Ed Block Courage/Most Courageous Player award. Mathias Farley won the Marty Lyons/Community Service award and Folorunso Fatukasi won the Kyle Clifton/”Good Guy” award. Finally, rookie Denzel Mims earned the Bill Hampton/”Rookie Who Acts Like a Pro award.

Jets DL Quinnen Williams done for the season

Quinnen Williams is done for the season due to a neck injury and a concussion.

Quinnen Williams’ breakout sophomore season has ended.

Adam Gase said Wednesday that Williams will be placed on injured reserve with a neck injury and a concussion. He’ll have to clear the concussion protocol before being placed on injured reserve, though. Williams suffered those injuries in Sunday’s 23-20 win over the Rams.

The second-year player out of Alabama emerged as one of the NFL’s top, young interior defensive linemen this season. In 13 games, Williams registered 53 total tackles, seven sacks, three pass defenses and two forced fumbles.

Now the question with Williams will be whether he can replicate his production in 2021. If he can, that would give the Jets a true force along their defensive line.

In other injury news, CB Javelin Guidry (knee) won’t practice on Wednesday. WR Jamison Crowder, WR Denzel Mims, WR Jeff Smith, OL Josh Andrews, LB Frankie Luvu and DL John Franklin-Myers will all be limited.

Updated 2021 NFL draft: Jets clinch top 2 pick with Bengals win

The Jets clinched a top two pick in the 2021 NFL draft after the Bengals defeated the Steelers.

No matter how the Jets finish out the regular season, they’ll have a top two in the 2021 NFL draft.

With the Bengals beating the Steelers on Monday Night Football, the Jets are guaranteed to either have the No. 1 pick in the draft or the No. 2 pick. Currently, the Jets have the No. 2 pick after their stunning 23-20 win over the Rams on Sunday.

Jacksonville lost its game to Baltimore, so it fell to 1-13 and now has control of the top pick in next year’s draft. Even though both the Jets and Jaguars have 1-13 records, the Jaguars hold the strength of schedule tiebreaker over the Jets. Jacksonville’s strength of schedule is lower than New York’s, meaning it has the same record against a worse set of teams than New York.

Both the Jets and Jaguars have two games left in their seasons. The Jets play the Browns and Patriots, while the Jaguars face the Bears and Colts. A Jaguars win would go a long way in helping the Jets regain the top pick in the draft. That is if the Jets lose their two remaining games in addition to the Jaguars winning a game.

Let’s take a look at where the first-round draft order stands after Week 15.

1.  Jacksonville Jaguars (1-13)

2. New York Jets (1-13)

3. Cincinnati Bengals (3-10-1)

4. Carolina Panthers (4-10)

5. Atlanta Falcons (4-10)

6. Miami Dolphins (from Houston, 4-10)

7. Philadelphia Eagles (4-9-1)

8. Dallas Cowboys (5-9)

9. Los Angeles Chargers (5-9)

10. New York Giants (5-9)

11. Detroit Lions (5-9)

12. San Francisco 49ers (5-9)

13. Denver Broncos (5-9)

14. Minnesota Vikings (6-8)

15. New England Patriots (6-8)

16. Chicago Bears (7-7)

17. Las Vegas Raiders (7-7)

18. Baltimore Ravens (9-5)

19. Washington Football Team (6-8)

20. Arizona Cardinals (8-6)

21. Miami Dolphins (9-5)

22. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-5)

23. Indianapolis Colts (10-4)

24. Cleveland Browns (10-4)

25. Jacksonville Jaguars (from Los Angeles Rams, 9-5)

26. New York Jets (from Seattle Seahawks, 10-4)

27. Tennessee Titans (10-4)

28. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-3)

29. New Orleans Saints (10-4)

30. Buffalo Bills (11-3)

31. Green Bay Packers (11-3)

32. Kansas City Chiefs (13-1)

Zero Jets selected to Pro Bowl despite Mekhi Becton leading fan vote for AFC tackles

The Jets had no players selected to the 2021 NFL Pro Bowl.

The Jets were shut out of the 2021 NFL Pro Bowl.

New York didn’t have a single player selected to this year’s all-star exhibition. The last time the Jets didn’t have a player voted to the Pro Bowl was in 2017, when the New York finished 5-11 under head coach Todd Bowles.

The Jets are one of five teams with zero Pro Bowl nods. The Jaguars, Bengals, Cowboys and Panthers are the other four.

Jets rookie left tackle Mekhi Becton led all AFC offensive tackles in fan voting but was not selected for the Pro Bowl. The fan vote counts for one-third of the selection.

Becton laughed when he found out he didn’t make it.

Quinnen Williams was another Jet with a strong case.

The Jets did have three former players selected to the Pro Bowl, though. Seahawks safety Jamal Adams, Seahawks fullback Nick Bellore and Bills returner Andre Roberts all made it. This will be Adams and Roberts’ third Pro Bowl and Bellore’s first.

The NFL Pro Bowl game will not take place this season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. It was supposed to be held in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. Instead, the NFL will hold a virtual event on Jan. 31.

Jets’ first win means Jaguars control the No. 1 pick in 2021 NFL draft

Any win by the Jaguars would give the Jets the top pick back if they lose their two remaining games against the Browns and the Patriots.

The Jets were in control of the No. 1 pick in the 2021 NFL draft. The only thing they couldn’t do was win, something they managed to accomplish all season.

Until Week 15.

The Jets pulled off an unexpected upset on Sunday with a 23-20 victory over the Rams on the road. The win came at a steep cost, though. Following New York’s first win, the Jacksonville Jaguars now have control over the top pick and, presumably, Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence. Even though the two teams having identical 1-13 records, the Jaguars hold the tiebreaker thanks to a lower strength of schedule percentage.

Both teams have two games left in their seasons. New York finishes off with Cleveland next week and New England in the season finale, while Jacksonville plays Chicago and Indianapolis in its final two games.

Any win by the Jaguars would give the Jets the top pick back if they lose their two remaining games against the Browns and the Patriots. However, with the way the Jaguars have been playing lately, that doesn’t seem likely.

Sunday’s win could completely change the Jets’ — and the Jaguars’ — future. New York was looking at a once in a generation quarterback prospect just a few hours ago. Now, it’s possible they give it another go with Sam Darnold.

We’ll see how these next two weeks play out, but the Jets may have given the Jaguars an early Christmas present.

Aaron Donald likes what he sees from Sam Darnold: ‘He’s a good quarterback’

Aaron Donald was very complimentary of Sam Darnold, calling him a ‘good quarterback.’

While Aaron Donald’s goal on Sunday is to get after Sam Darnold, he did have some kind words to say about the Jets’ quarterback in the week leading up to the game.

Donald acknowledged that Darnold and the 0-13 Jets are not playing their best football right now. However, Donald thinks Darnold has some characteristics that stand out on tape.

“Obviously, they’re not playing how they want to play, but I think he’s a good quarterback,” Donald said. “He’s really mobile. He can move, make things happen with his feet and get out of trouble. It looks like he’s strong. I’ve seen a couple times when it looked like he was about to get sacked, but he was able to break out and make something happen.”

When Darnold was asked about Donald on Thursday, he was just as complimentary of the Rams All-Pro defensive tackle.

“Yeah, Aaron Donald is a good player,” Darnold said with a laugh, per SNY. “He definitely pops out on tape, especially, it seems, whenever a play needs to be made, he’s there making it. It’ll be fun playing against him.”

Darnold’s idea of “fun” might be a little off. The quarterback is going to have his work cut out for him. Donald has put together another fantastic season, racking up 12.5 sacks and 24 QB hits. Those numbers tie his totals from last season when he was a first-team All-Pro for the fifth consecutive year. Donald is also a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and six-time Pro Bowler.

It will be on the Jets’ front five to protect Darnold from Donald at all costs. Look for double-teams against the Ram. Even then, that might not be enough to stop Donald in the trenches.
