Jets vs. Rams Week 15 game scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET

The Jets and Rams will play in Week 15 at 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX.

The Jets and Rams officially have a time slot for their Week 15 game.

The NFL announced Wednesday that the Jets-Rams game is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET on FOX. Originally, the game time was listed as to be determined.

The Jets now have back-to-back West Coast games kicking off at 4:05 p.m. ET. New York is in Seattle this week to take on the Seahawks. The Jets will fly home before traveling west again to play the Rams.

The Jets initially planned on staying on the West Coast in-between their games against the Seahawks and Rams, but that changed because of COVID-19 protocols. Adam Gase also said that he doesn’t want his players trapped in a hotel for a week without seeing their families.

The Jets will fly back to Florham Park after their game with the Seahawks. They’ll practice at their training facility like they normally do before heading to Los Angeles.

Jets schedule changes: New York to play Dolphins in Week 6, Chargers in Week 11

The New York Jets had two of their games switched around as part of the NFL’s schedule changes.

The New York Jets had two of their games switched around as part of the NFL’s schedule changes.

The NFL announced that the Jets will play at the Miami Dolphins in Week 6 at 4:05 p.m. ET instead of playing at the Chargers. The game against the Chargers is now scheduled for Week 11 at 4:05 p.m. ET in Los Angeles. The Jets’ bye week was moved from Week 11 to Week 10 as a result of the changes.

The league made sweeping changes to the schedule due to the Titans and Patriots having games postponed because of COVID-19-related issues. The NFL is doing all it can to have all the games played even if it means switching around opponents and bye weeks.

If COVID-19 becomes more of an issue around the league, the NFL may have to consider making up games at the end of the season. The league can only continue to switch around games for so long.

So make sure to mark the Jets’ schedule changes on your calendar. New York is in Miami next week and in Los Angeles in Week 11.

Sam Darnold confident Jets have the guys to win in 2020

Sam Darnold believes the Jets have the players capable of winning in 2020.

Sam Darnold should know what a bad football team looks like after two seasons in the NFL. He doesn’t think the 2020 Jets are going to be one, though.

New York’s roster had a major makeover this offseason with the addition of nine free agents and nine draft picks. With just 11 wins to Gang Green’s name through Darnold’s first two campaigns, the quarterback now believes the Jets have the right personnel in place.

“We definitely have the guys to be able to win football games,” Darnold told the Jets website, “but as we see every year, it’s about putting everything together. Right now, we’ve still got a long way to go.”

Given the amount of roster turnover, it’s going to be difficult for the Jets to build chemistry right away. Losing OTAs and minicamp due to the COVID-19 pandemic certainly didn’t help their cause, and it remains to be seen what training camp and the preseason will look like.

For Darnold though, this upcoming season is his most important yet. The honeymoon period is over now that he’s entering his third season in the league. Darnold’s rookie season, in which he threw for 2,865 yards, 17 touchdowns and 15 interceptions, was mediocre at best. He followed it up with a sophomore season that showed minor improvement while battling obstacles like mononucleosis and a poor offensive line. Darnold threw for 3,024 yards, 19 touchdowns and 13 interceptions in 13 starts.

Darnold and the Jets won’t get much help from their schedule in 2020. They face the fourth-toughest slate in the league based on their opponents’ win percentage from last season.

So if the Jets are going to win a good amount of games this season, Darnold’s claim about the players in place is going have to be right.

Patrick Mahomes, Russell Wilson among 5 best QBs Jets will face in 2020

Jets Wire lists the five best quarterbacks that the Jets will face off against in 2020.

With the Jets having the second-strongest strength of schedule in the NFL, they will have the misfortune of facing some pretty talented quarterbacks.

New York will face multiple Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks, a sophomore looking for a surge and an eventual Hall of Famer at the twilight of his career. This upcoming season will present a tall task for Gregg Williams but also gives Sam Darnold the opportunity to go head-to-head against better competition.

Even with that, the Jets will be facing four former first-round picks, which include Baker Mayfield, Josh Allen, Jared Goff and Tua Tagovailoa. With that said, here are the five best quarterbacks the Jets will face in 2020.

The Jets have been fortunate enough to have never faced Patrick Mahomes in his short yet historic NFL career. That changes on Sunday, Nov. 1.

While Mahomes didn’t repeat as the MVP in his second season as a starter, he still carried his team to a Super Bowl victory. In the process of capturing the Super Bowl MVP, Mahomes led the Chiefs from a 10-point deficit to win Kansas City its first Super Bowl in 50 years.

In just three seasons, Mahomes has completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 9,412 yards with 76 touchdowns and 18 interceptions. While Gregg Williams and his defense have a tall task ahead of them, the Jets defensive coordinator has faced Mahomes before, although the results weren’t pretty. Back in 2018, Mahomes threw for 375 yards and three touchdowns while rolling over Williams in his debut as the Browns’ interim head coach. Cleveland lost, 37-21.

Jets ranked among NFL’s worst in ESPN’s Football Power Index

The Jets are ranked 25th in ESPN’s football power index.

The Worldwide Leader doesn’t expect much from the Jets in 2020.

ESPN released its Football Power Index and it has Gang Green ranked as the 25th team in the NFL heading into the season. The index projects the Jets to have 6.8 wins next season and gives them a 24 percent chance to make the playoffs.

ESPN’s Football Power Index is based on what Las Vegas thinks each team’s win total will be for the given year. It also includes each team’s statistics on offense, defense and special teams from the previous season, as well as how many returning players there are, any changes to a coaching staff and quarterbacks.

First and foremost, the Jets have a brutal schedule in 2020. They have the second-toughest schedule in the league based on their opponents’ win percentages from 2019.

In terms of how the Jets did on offense, defense and special teams last season, there was some good but also a lot of bad. Adam Gase’s offense was dreadful in 2019, as the Jets ranked 31st and 32nd in total points scored (276) and total yards (5,170), respectively.

The defense was one of the few bright spots of the 2019 Jets, as they were second against the run and middle of the pack against the pass. Special teams had its issues, especially on field goal attempts. Jets kickers missed a combined nine field goals and four extra points.

As for coaching staff changes, there weren’t many made by the Jets. A couple of small name assistants here and there, but nothing of note. The quarterback room is slightly different than last season with the acquisitions of James Morgan and Joe Flacco, but Sam Darnold is still the starter.

The 4 easiest games on the Jets’ 2020 schedule

The Jets have the second-hardest strength of schedule in 2020, but will still run into easier games against the Dolphins, Raiders and Browns

The Jets’ schedule isn’t easy by any stretch of the imagination. In fact, New York owns the second-hardest strength of schedule in the NFL, right behind the Patriots.

On top of their six division games, the Jets will see the AFC and NFC West, as well as playing two potential playoff teams in the Colts and Browns. After stumbling to a 7-9 finish last season, it’s a possibility that the Jets could be a better team in 2020 and still finish with a worse record due to their schedule.

Any slate that involves playing Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, on their home turf is a tough one. With that said, the Jets’ schedule tends to ease up before its second and final primetime matchup of the season. Unfortunately, that also includes a two-week road trip to play both the Seahawks and Rams on their home turfs — the Jets’ only back-to-back road games in 2020.

Instead of focusing on the difficult, though, let’s take a look at the four easiest games on the Jets’ 2020 schedule.

Oddsmakers expect more losing for Jets in 2020

Caesars Sportsbook released its NFL odds for the 2020 season and don’t see much improvement for the Jets, having them at over/under 6.5 wins

Caesars Sportsbook has revealed updated over/under win totals for every NFL team. Things are not looking so good for the Jets there, as the sportsbook has them set New York’s over/under at 6.5 victories in 2020.

After a promising 7-9 finish for Gang Green in 2019 — despite a 1-7 start — the oddsmakers expect more of the same for the Jets in 2020. The Dolphins, Bengals and Jaguars are the only remaining AFC teams that are expected to have a lower win total than the Jets in 2020.

The Ravens and Chiefs share the AFC’s highest total, with both pegged at 12 wins. Staying in the division, the Bills (9) and Patriots (8.5) are being held to a higher standard with oddsmakers feeling better about Buffalo’s chances to win the AFC East due to the departure of Tom Brady. Just below the Jets are the Dolphins (6), but with three first-round picks in next week’s draft, they can surely make up some ground.

It’s not surprising that Las Vegas’ oddsmakers are so low on the Jets’ chances of improving their win total from a year ago. In 2020, the Jets will play the AFC and NFC West, which includes last year’s Super Bowl teams, the Chiefs and 49ers.

On paper, the Jets have one of the more difficult schedules and, besides upgrading their interior offensive line, they haven’t done much to close the gap on their opponents. The team’s inconsistent results during the 2019 season were also a determining factor.

Just a week away from the draft, the Jets have a chance to bring in impact starters to compete for a wild card spot. However, they’ll have to prove themselves on the field before Vegas budges on its over/under win total.

Jets’ 2020 schedule locked in following win over Steelers

Next season, the Jets will host the Browns and travel to the Colts as their 2020 opponents were officially finalized.

With the Jets 16-10 upset victory over the Steelers on Sunday, their 2020 schedule is officially locked in.

Coming into Sunday’s matchup, everything was set in stone except two games for Gang Green. The AFC East will play the AFC and NFC West during the 2020 season. Also, the Jets will play six division games.

New York is scheduled to play the same division place-holder in the AFC North and South. With the Browns (6-9) losing to the Ravens on Sunday, they officially clinched a third-place finish. The Jets will host Cleveland for the second consecutive season at MetLife Stadium.

In the South, the Jets will travel to Indianapolis for the other game that was up in the air. The Colts (7-8) clinched a third-place finish, regardless of the results of next week’s division matchups.

With next year’s schedule set, the Jets will be playing five playoff teams in 2020. It’s not going to get easier for Adam Gase’s club next season, but a lot can change between now and opening day.
