How the results of the draft affect former Badgers in the NFL

Much has been written about the five former Badgers that made it to the NFL last week–Jonathan Taylor, Zack Baun, Tyler Biadasz…

The now-Las Vegas Raiders took Nelson in the fourth round back in 2018.

Though he has only played in 12 games in two years–three of them starts,–the former Badger was listed as one of the starters at cornerback for Jon Gruden‘s team heading into the draft.

If you didn’t see where this was going, the Raiders used a first-round pick on Ohio State cornerback Damon Arnette and now have him slotted to start across from their second-round pick in 2019 Trayvon Mullen.

What this all did was slide Nelson into a backup role at cornerback and most likely make it so his best shot at seeing the field will be on special teams.
