How the results of the draft affect former Badgers in the NFL

Much has been written about the five former Badgers that made it to the NFL last week–Jonathan Taylor, Zack Baun, Tyler Biadasz…

Joe Schobert and Leon Jacobs (Jacksonville Jaguars)

The bigger story of the two is Leon Jacobs (pictured above with long snapper Matthew Orzech) as he was a starter in 2019 and saw his starting role slip away with the team’s acquisition of another former Badger in Joe Schobert.

What now affects them both, though, is the Jaguars’ fourth-round selection of Miami linebacker Shaquille Quarterman.

Quarterman currently projects to back-up Schobert at middle linebacker with Jacobs behind Myles Jack, the other starter on the depth chart.

Jacobs will still most likely have a depth role on defense and start on special teams but from the end of the 2019 season to now, the outlook for his season has changed dramatically.
