Texas ex, Chiefs DE Charles Omenihu tears ACL in AFC Championship Game

Heartbreaking end to an impressive season for former Longhorn Charles Omenihu.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Charles Omenihu suffered a torn ACL against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

Shortly after the Chiefs defeated the Ravens 17-10, Omenihu appeared optimistic that the injury wasn’t serious and that he’d be able to play in the Super Bowl. However, NFL Network’s James Palmer delivered the heartbreaking news on Monday that Omenihu will miss the Super Bowl due to a torn ACL.

It’s a tough blow for Kansas City as Omenihu put together an impressive season in 2023. The former Longhorn recorded seven sacks and two forced fumbles in 11 games.

Omenihu’s biggest play of the season came by way of a Lamar Jackson strip sack that resulted in a turnover on Sunday.
