Derrick Henry surpasses 4k career rushing yards

On Sunday, former Alabama and current Tennessee Titans running back surpassed the 4,000 career yard mark in his NFL career.

On Sunday, former Alabama and current Tennessee Titans running back surpassed the 4,000 career yard mark in his NFL career.

Henry, who has become a major staple of the Titans’ offense, had 25 carries for 84 yards on Sunday.

Even the Titans’ head coach Mike Vrabel knows it’s true.

So much so that he wore a face mask last weekend that said, “Please give the ball to Derrick Henry.”

And it’s true.

Last season, Derrick Henry led the NFL with a career-best 1,540 rushing yards on 303 carries and was the only running back in the NFL to average more than 100 rushing yards per game last season.

Henry also had 446 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns on 83 carries during the playoffs.

But, that’s not all. Henry is ranked third in NFL history, averaging 126 yards rushing in the postseason.

Simply put, Henry is on a roll and he doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon.

There’s a reason the Titans agreed with Henry for a four-year, $50 million deal.

He’s worth every single penny.

And he’s on a mission to prove just that.

So far in his NFL career, Henry has racked up now over,4000 yards rushing for 38 rushing touchdowns. He also has 593 receiving yards for another 3 touchdowns.

While at Alabama, the former Heisman trophy winner produced 3,591 yards and 42 touchdowns while racking up 285 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air.

Congrats, Derrick!

WATCH: Amari Cooper snags one-handed pass

Oh. My. Word. For real though. This is one of the best catches we have seen all season

Oh. My. Word.

For real though.

This is one of the best catches we have seen all season, for many reasons.

Former Alabama and current Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Amari Cooper has quickly become of the Cowboys go-to wide receivers this reason, and it is plays like this that’s the reason why.

I mean, c’mon.

First off, his footwork and speed are impeciable.

Cooper always seems to find a way to create separation from himself and the defender, every single time.

Not only that, but it’s also Cooper’s determination and focus that helps him create big plays like this. He very rarely gives up on plays and is able to come up with the ball.

Just like this 58 yard one handed catch!

Afterall, there’s a reason why Cooper was ranked No. 49 in NFL’s “Top 100 Players of 2020.”

Amari Cooper was drafted by the Oakland Raiders as the No. 4 overall pick of the 2015 NFL Draft where he played from 2015-2018.

In 2018, the Raiders traded Cooper to the Dallas Cowboys.

In 2020, he signed a a five-year contract extension with the Cowboys worth $100 million, which featured $60 million guaranteed.

In his NFL Career, he has recorded an astonishing 5,278 receiving yards, 34 touchdowns.

Also, as a Raider, he was the first rookie to reach the 1,000-yard receiving mark and also had the most receiving yards in a season by a rookie with 1,070 yards.

Jalen Hurts sees first action in NFL debut

On Sunday, Hurts saw his first action in the NFL, but it wasn’t as a quarterback.

Jalen Hurts has gone from being a misunderstood NFL Draft pick to being named the Eagles’ No 2 quarterback as a backup to Carson Wentz.

The former Alabama and Oklahoma quarterback has continued to prove himself each and every day, and is on a mission to prove that he truly does belong in the NFL.

On Sunday, Hurts saw his first action in the NFL, but it wasn’t as a quarterback.

Nope.

Hurts lined up in the backfield that opened up a first down play for the Eagles. Hurts ran a sweep route to the flat and drew the defense toward him, and it worked like a charm.

You can expect to see Hurts have more roles for the Eagles as a decoy, and that’s not a bad thing.

Although Hurts is more than capable of being an NFL quarterback, he’s also the type of player who is more than wlling to fulfill whatever role is needed of him.

Over time, Hurts could truly become a huge asset for the Eagles, maybe even this season. All he needs is time and opportunities.

And whether that’s at quarterback, or simply being used as a decoy, Hurts will give it all he has.

Hurts finished the 2019 season at Oklahoma with a career-high 3,851 yards passing, as well as a career-high 32 passing TDs. He added a career-best 1,298 yards rushing and career-high 20 rushing touchdowns.

In his college career at Alabama and Oklahoma, Hurts recorded almost 9,500 passing yards and 80 touchdowns along with almost 3,300 rushing yards and 43 rushing touchdowns.

Hurts won a national championship, SEC championship and Big 12 championship during his career. He was also named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year this past season, as well as the Big 12 Male Athlete of the Year.

On Sunday, Ridley made an impressive catch that he then turned into a touchdown to put his team up 7-0 against the Dallas Cowboys. Check out the tweet below:

This touchdown above comes a week after Ridley posted impressive stats in a 38-25 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. In that opening week game, he produced nine receptions for 130 yards and two scores, averaging 14.4 yards per catch in the process.

Former Alabama running back Shaun Alexander, linebacker Cornelius Bennett, and offensive lineman Chris Samuels were named to the list.

The entire list of nominees includes 65 offensive players, 49 defensive players and 16 special teams players.

The list of Modern-Era nominees will be reduced to 25 semifinalists in November and, from there, to 15 finalists in January.

And of the 15, let’s hope all 3 Alabama Crimson Tide players are a part of it!

All three former Crimson Tide standouts were on the list of nominees last year, too.

The Selection Committee will meet on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021 in Tampa, Florida to elect the Class of 2021.

Here’s a look at each of the three former Alabama players on the ballot, and what they were able to accomplish:

Running back, Shaun Alexander:

Alexander is the Tide’s second leading rusher all time, who recorded an incredible 3,565 yards rushing for 41 touchdowns and 4.9 yards per carry. Alexander also had 798 yards receiving for another 8 career touchdowns.

He was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks as the 19th overall pick in the 2000 NFL Draft.

Bennett was a huge staple to Alabama’s defense during his time in Tuscaloosa. For the Tide, Bennett recorded 287 tackles, 21½ sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries. He’s known for his infamous sack against Notre Dame quarterback Steve Beuerlein.

Bennett went on to be drafted by the Indianapolis Colts with the second pick of the 1987 NFL Draft, but was eventually sent to the Buffalo Bills. He spent 14 years in the NFL. He spent 9 years playing for the Bills, 3 years for the Falcons, and then 2 seasons in Indianapolis.

Samuels is one of the best lineman ever to play at Alabama. He played at Alabama from 1996-1999 where he never allowed even one sack during the 42 games he started. He also won Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the SEC’s most outstanding blocker during his time in Tuscaloosa. He and Shaun Alexander were on the team together at Alabama, and they were incredible.

Evans, who was a 2018 first-round selection by the Titans, has been a crucial part to their defense and aided in their 2019 underdog expedition to the AFC Championship.

In his two years, the Crimson Tide product has recorded 164 tackles, 2.5 sacks, one pass deflection, a fumble recovery and a lone defensive touchdown.

There’s no doubt that he will be a contributing factor to Tennessee’s success in 2020 as they look to improve upon their impressive and unexpected 2019 season.

However, his work in the Titans’ Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos has been cut short. Evans was ejected after punching Broncos tight end Jake Butt.

Ruggs made his professional debut on Sunday in the Raiders’ Week 1 win against the Carolina Panthers, where he caught three passes for a team-high 55 yards.
