Top high schoolers who may reclassify, eventually enter 2021 NBA Draft

Many believe the NBA Draft will feature a stronger prospect pool in 2021 than what the 2020 class will offer. But it may get even deeper.

MOUSSA DIABATE

Forward, 6-foot-9, IMG (Florida)

Background: He represented France during the U18 Euro Championship in 2019, putting up 13.1 points and 11.1 rebounds with 2.1 blocks per game in seven contests. Among all participants, he ranked No. 10 overall in scoring while finishing the tournament with the fifth-most blocks and third-most total rebounds. He also played four games for the AAU squad Nightrydas Elite on the Nike EYBL circuit last year. Diabete is currently playing alongside other top prospects including Jalen Johnson and Jaden Springer on IMG Academy. The prep school is ranked No. 23 in the nation, per MaxPreps. He will participate at the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp during All-Star Weekend in Chicago.

NCAA: His head coach has said that Diabete will make his decision about reclassification “at the end of the season” and that the school will support him either way. He has mentioned Florida, Memphis and Michigan as teams with interest but Kentucky reportedly has expressed serious interest in recruiting him as well. He told Rivals that reclassification might be an option but at least as of December 2019, he did not feel ready yet to make the jump to the NCAA. Diabete only began playing basketball when he was thirteen years so he is still relatively new to the game despite being ranked at No. 8 overall in the Class of 2021 by ESPN.
