No. 1 – Derek Stingley, LSU
An easy pick at No. 1, Derek Stingley is not only the best cornerback Texas will face in 2020 but the best cornerback in the country. Helping LSU win the national championship, Stingley was covering team’s top wide receivers all season. More times than not, he was able to shut them down.
Stingley was a consensus first-team All-American for Dave Aranda’s defense. Going into Baton Rouge this season, Mike Yurich and Sam Ehlinger should make a big note to himself, making sure he does not throw towards Stingley. He’ll find a way to make a play and change the momentum of the game.
