Texas Longhorns: Five Areas To Improve In 2020

The Texas Longhorns finished the year 8-5 but here are five areas to get even better in 2020.

Sam Ehlinger’s Final Run

It is a tale as old as time, your offense can only go as far as the quarterback takes you. Ehlinger is likely back in 2020 after requesting feedback from the NFL Advisory Board. Every season has been exponentially better than the previous for Ehlinger as a passer and runner. So why should 2020 be any different for the quarterback who is chasing all the Texas records?

If the Longhorns are looking at Ingram and Robinson to be this year’s Dobbins, is it too much to ask for Ehlinger to be this year’s Justin Fields? Yurcich will need to get a similar type year for Sam to lead this team beyond a conference championship and into the playoff discussion.

Fields’ numbers were insane in that he accounted for 51 total touchdowns this year, Ehlinger’s best came in 2018 when he accounted for 41 including 16 rushing touchdowns. Never count out Ehlinger who has proven that he will give it all he can to get his hometown team back into the national spotlight.

The Longhorns still have a long offseason ahead but this year could be something special for Tom Herman and the Longhorns if they can take the fight back to Oklahoma and regain conference dominance starting in 2020.
