Texas Longhorns: Five Areas To Improve In 2020

The Texas Longhorns finished the year 8-5 but here are five areas to get even better in 2020.

Replacing The Wide Receiver Duo

The Texas Longhorns wide receiver room will look much different in 2020 with the departures of Devin Duvernay and Collin Johnson. These two have been a huge part of the offense under Herman and they will need to find a couple of playmakers to pick up the slack next season.

Freshmen wide receiver Jake Smith will likely win the job as the slot receiver in 2020. He finished the season with six touchdowns and was fourth on this team in reception yards. It is farfetched to believe he could replace the production of Duvernay, but until this past season not anyone saw Devin’s career year coming. The key for Smith is taking some of the pressure off the other receivers.

Brennan Eagles is looking to be the top target in 2020. Eagles stepped up during the absence of Johnson and notched six touchdowns of his own giving him the second-best total with Smith and just behind Duvernay. Eagles much like Johnson is a big target who can take advantage of smaller corners when they get into the redzone.

These two have the inside track on being big players for the offense in 2020.
