Texas Longhorns: Five Areas To Improve In 2020

The Texas Longhorns finished the year 8-5 but here are five areas to get even better in 2020.

Disrupt The Passing Game

In their win over the Utah Utes, the Longhorns played suffocating defense and really harassed quarterback Tyler Huntley all game long. In that game, linebacker Joseph Ossai was able to sack Huntley three times giving him five on the season. He led the team after that performance.

Huntley was never comfortable in that game and it showed with how the offense was able to preform. Despite the huge game by Ossai, the Longhorns defense needs one of their defensive linemen up front to get to the quarterback in 2020. In the Big 12 Conference, passing is king and with a sustainable pass rush, they will limit teams ability to attack the defense down field.

In their 10-4 season back in 2018, the defense was able to get 9.5 sacks from Charles Omenihu to lead the team. The Longhorns will need a new sack kings to emerge in 2020. Head coach Tom Herman and defensive coordinator Chris Ash have some work to do find a defensive end to come in and bring the defense to new heights in 2020.
