Only one remains.
Out of the 14 quarterbacks selected in the 2010 NFL Draft, former Texas legend Colt McCoy is the only signal-caller from that particular draft class that is currently active.
It wasn’t necessarily a strong year to draft a quarterback at the time, but McCoy was near the top of the list with names such as Sam Bradford and Tim Tebow. Within ten years, thirteen of those quarterbacks either retired due to injuries or were unable to hold a position on an active roster.
McCoy has chosen to spend his 11th season in the NFL with the New York Giants, where he agreed to a one-year deal on Thursday. The former Longhorn was originally drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round, but spent the majority of his professional career with the Washington Redskins.
Although McCoy made 21 of his 28 career starts over three seasons in Cleveland, he has primarily been comfortable in the backup quarterback role due to an injury prone career.
McCoy continues to demonstrate a relentless attitude, much like his collegiate career at Texas. From 2006-09, he won 45 games in just 53 career starts. He is widely respected both on and off the field and ended his stint in Austin owning 47 school records.
