Texas HC Tom Herman provides injury update on several key players

Two players joined the injury report during Texas’ third scheduled bye week.

Texas unfortunately added players to their injury report during their third scheduled bye week.

In Tom Herman’s weekly media availability on Monday, he relayed the news that senior tight end Cade Brewer and sophomore tight end Jared Wiley each got banged up during practice last week.

“Had a couple guys down at the same position at practice last week. Cade Brewer with a chest contusion and Jared Wiley with a shoulder deal,” Herman said. “Our tight end room is pretty thin. I don’t know how much 12 personnel we will see throughout the [Kansas] game.”

It’s unclear if Brewer or Wiley will be available for Texas’ next matchup in Kansas on Nov. 21.

However, there were notable players who made positive strides throughout the bye week. Herman confirmed that wide receiver Jordan Whittington and defensive lineman Keondre Coburn were able to return to practice.

“Josh[ua] Moore is listed as questionable right now. He is getting better. However, not quite as swiftly as we had hoped. Keondre Coburn is back at practice, as is Jordan Whittington.”

Moore suffered a shoulder injury against West Virginia. He’s clearly played through a variety of nagging injuries this season and remains Texas’ top pass catching threat.
