Texas Football Recruiting: Where does the 2021 offensive class sit now?

Three months away from early signing day, blue-chip players are still available. Here is an update on the offensive 2021 recruiting class:

Quarterback

Commits: Charles Wright

Remaining targets: None

Analysis: For the longest time, Texas held down a commit from four-star dual-threat quarterback Jalen Milroe. After 2022 quarterback Quinn Ewers committed to Texas, Milroe decided to jump ship to Tuscaloosa.

Five days later, the Longhorns were able to flip Charles Wright from Iowa State. A pro-style quarterback, Wright is going to fit Mike Yurcich’s style more than Milroe would have. A three-star out of Austin High School, Wright ranks as the No. 39 pro-style quarterback on the 247Sports composite.

With the depth at quarterback, there is a good chance Wright rarely sees playing time in Austin. However, there can never be enough competition in a quarterback room. Even if the Longhorns are home to some of the top high school quarterbacks in the country.
