Will Texas finally have wide receiver Jordan Whittington at their disposal this season?
Although he was limited to start fall camp, Whittington appears to be healthy and poised for a significant role in Mike Yurcich’s offense. The former five-star recruit has the athleticism to do it all. He’s known as a hybrid playmaker and can be used out of the backfield or in the slot.
After switching back to wide receiver, Whittington’s primary competition this year is in the slot alongside Jake Smith. Even if Smith wins the starting role, Yurcich is known to adapt in order to have his most talented players on the field as often as possible.
The primary concern with Whittington thus far has been his health. As a true freshman, he suffered a groin injury that required surgery and sidelined him for the majority of the season.
It was a bit worrisome that he began fall camp on a limited basis, but that seemed to be short-lived. Texas released a short clip of Whittington competing in fall camp while showcasing his speed.
