10 2023 NFL Draft targets at pick 74 after Elijah Moore trade

Who are the best targets who could be on the board with the 74th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft for the Browns after landing Elijah Moore?

The Cleveland Browns made a significant upgrade to their wide receiver room, landing wide receiver Elijah Moore from the New York Jets for just a pick swap in the 2023 NFL Draft.

And after landing Moore, the Browns slid back to the 74th overall pick in the draft from the 42nd overall pick (equivalent to the value of a mid-fourth rounder). However, by upgrading every major hole on their roster in this NFL free agency period, they have put themselves in a position to enter the draft with a legitimate “best player available” mindset.

Who could still be on the board for the Browns after falling back 32 picks? We highlight ten names to keep tabs on in the 2023 NFL Draft.

Pro Day roundup: Jaguars send 6 reps to Ohio State

The Jaguars’ tour of pro days before the 2023 NFL Draft included a large group attending the Ohio State workout Wednesday.

The NFL world descended on Columbus, Ohio on Wednesday for the Ohio State Pro Day. While the Jacksonville Jaguars probably didn’t care much about the day’s star, quarterback C.J. Stroud, they were still one of the most represented teams in attendance.

According to Senior Bowl executive director Jim Nagy, the Jaguars had six representatives at the Ohio State workout, more than all but five teams. The Carolina Panthers led the way with an absurdly large group that included ownership and just about the entire front office.

While Carolina has its eyes on Stroud, there are a few players who could make sense for the Jaguars. At the top of the list are behemoth right tackle prospect Dawand Jones and pass rusher Zach Harrison.

Jones measured in at a ridiculous 6’8, 374 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Harrison checks all the physical boxes the Jaguars look for in a pass rusher at 6’6, 274 pounds with 36.25-inch arms; however, he never recorded four sacks in a season at Ohio State.

Other pro days:

  • The Jaguars were one of a handful of teams spotted at the Southern Methodist Pro Day on Wednesday. The most notable prospect is Rashee Rice, a 6’1 receiver who recorded a 41-inch vertical at the combine.
  • Michigan defensive tackle Mazi Smith reportedly had a private meeting with the Jaguars, who were in attendance at his pro day last week.
  • The Jaguars were one of 13 teams reportedly in attendance at the Temple Pro Day on Wednesday. Offensive tackle Isaac Moore and linebacker Jordan Magee headline the list of Owls prospects.
  • Jaguars outside linebackers coach Bill Shuey was reportedly among the large turnout at the Iowa State Pro Day, where pass rusher Will McDonald IV was the star of the show Tuesday.
  • Syracuse offensive lineman Matthew Bergeron drew the Jaguars’ attention at his pro day workout earlier this week. Offensive line coach Phil Rauscher was reportedly among those in attendance.
  • The Jaguars were one of the teams spotted at the Georgia Southern Pro Day where defensive backs Justin Birdsong and Derrick Canteen are the biggest standouts.
  • More than half the NFL was reportedly in attendance at the Northern Iowa Pro Day earlier this week. Offensive tackle Erik Sorensen and defensive back Benny Sapp at among the team’s standouts.

Panthers 2023 mock draft 5.0: Swing for the fences edition

The Panthers have been swinging for the fences this offseason. So, for our latest mock draft, we filled the card with some of this year’s most potent prospects.

Last Friday, the Carolina Panthers swung for the fences—and cleared them.

The team’s stunning acquisition of the 2023’s No. 1 overall pick was just the latest—and perhaps greatest—hit of what’s been a bold offseason. Between wrangling together an all-star coaching staff and taking control of the upcoming NFL draft, the Panthers are going all out.

So, for our newest mock, we’ll keep with that approach. Let’s risk it for the biscuit and go for some of this year’s most appealing upside.

Colts’ 7-round mock draft post NFL combine

Here’s a 7-round mock draft for the Colts following the NFL combine.

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone, which means it’s time to roll out another seven-round mock draft for the Indianapolis Colts.

With the majority of athletic testing numbers assigned to hundreds of prospects, the Colts will have a better idea of what type of athletes they are dealing with in this class.

But as we know with the Colts, the interviews and face-to-face meetings with these prospects are just as important as their production and measurements. Unfortunately, that’s a side of the draft process we get little insight into.

So with the combine now behind us, here’s an updated look at a seven-round mock for the Colts using Pro Football Network’s mock draft simulator:

Zach Harrison responds to Michigan player “Edge Rush U” claim

Who’s had the best edge rushers in college football? #GoBucks

When it comes to our words, sometimes less is more. Former Ohio State defensive end, Zach Harrison, responded very simply to a question posed on the Pro Football Focus Twitter page. “No.”

The folks at PFF asked the question “Is Michigan Edge Rush U?” This was in response to former Wolverine Mike Morris being asked who would step up for Jim Harbaugh’s club in the coming season at the edge. The response from Morris was “We edge rush U”, basically saying the next crop will be as good as the previous.

As you can imagine, there was a variety of commentary on the subject, but the best answer was a one-word response from Harrison… “No.”

Yes, we understand Michigan has had the upper hand the past two seasons in The Game, and even Buckeye most fans would have to admit the Wolverines have had the better overall defense in those games. However, Harrison is right. Let’s not jump the gun here.

We cannot argue that Michigan has had some outstanding pass rushers in recent history. But let’s not forget who Ohio State has produced in recent memory as well. The Bosa brothers and Chase Young are enough to make the case for OSU by themselves. And there are plenty more to choose from.

Of course, it’s a matter of opinion and each side will make a case for its team. But at the end of the day, we all know there’s only one correct answer anyway. Go Buckeyes!

3 edge rushers Saints fans should watch at the NFL Scouting Combine

The #Saints don’t need to burn a first round pick to land an impactful edge rusher, and many options will be at this year’s NFL Scouting Combine, via @RossJacksonNOLA:

While the interior defensive line is arguably a bigger need for the New Orleans Saints, edge defender is a position that should not be ignored this offseason either. The NFL draft will present some intriguing options should the Saints decided to use the league’s annual selection process to address the area. An early look at some of those potentials picks can be had this week as the NFL Scouting Combine workouts begin this wee in Indianapolis.

We already presented three defensive tackles that should pique the interest of Saints fans at the Combine. Now,  we can dive into the pass rushers off the edge that could be huge gets for New Orleans in the long-run. With uncertainty looming over the team’s decision with 2018 first-round edge rusher draft pick Marcus Davenport and veteran defensive end Cameron Jordan entering the final year of his current deal, this is a position New Orleans would benefit from addressing both in the short and long term outlooks. Here are three edge defenders to watch at this week’s Combine, what to watch for, how they could contribute to the Saints and their current draft projections.

Ohio State’s Zach Harrison has high praise for two of his teammates at NFL combine

It wasn’t easy in practice for Harrison #GoBucks

Plenty of questions are being asked prior to players working out at the NFL combine and [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] defensive end [autotag]Zach Harrison[/autotag] knows he’s well prepared for the next level.

It’s not just that he is a disciple of defensive line coach [autotag]Larry Johnson[/autotag], it’s about the competition that he faced every day in practice. Both starting Buckeye tackles, [autotag]Paris Johnson Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Dawand Jones[/autotag], have played a big part in getting Harrison ready.

When asked about his teammates at the combine Wednesday, Harrison’s answer spoke a lot about the two future Sunday pros claiming that he “practiced against the two best tackles in the country every day.”

With Johnson Jr. widely thought of as the top offensive tackle and Jones steadily climbing draft boards, Harrison might end up being correct.

NFL Scouting Combine: Notes and quotes from the defensive linemen and linebackers

The defensive linemen and linebackers spoke to the media today at the combine. Here are some notes and quotes that stood out.

The first day of player media availability at the NFL Scouting Combine was today as the defensive linemen and linebackers took the podium. I did my best to hone in on players who fit what the Cleveland Browns might be looking for in the 2023 NFL Draft to get to know players who could be wearing brown and orange next year.

On a busy morning, I was able to chat with nearly about ten players and picked their brains about some of the things they do well on tape. As these guys continue through the biggest job interview of their career, here are some notes and quotes from today’s media availability.

To that note, the evaluation of defensive ends and edge rushers starts Thursday with measurements and on-field workouts. Among the teams with needs are the Indianapolis Colts, who need a solid presence to pair with young edge rushers Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo.

Here are five edge rushers to watch that could be on the Colts’ radar:
