The legend of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce continues to grow, with his visibility increasing beyond the football field. Another example occurred on the golf course, of all places, featuring an iconic pop star.

World famous entertainer Justin Timberlake appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night to share an exciting experience at the 8AM Golf Invitational at the Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas with two Chiefs stars.

Timberlake recalled a golf tournament with Fallon, Kelce, and Patrick Mahomes for charity that had a hilarious moment — following Fallon’s successful shot on a hole, he celebrated with Timberlake only to be unexpectedly joined by the Chiefs duo.

Wynn Golf Club: How much does it cost, how to book a tee time

“I saw my life flash before my eyes; he went up and did one of those, you know, when they jump, and I was like he’s doing it,” said Timberlake, referring to Kelce’s playful ‘tackle’ celebration. “I have to do it, and I forgot that he weighs like 80 pounds more than me.”

Timberlake jokingly said he couldn’t move his neck for a week after the celebratory tackle. He also confirmed that he does text occasionally with Kelce but not at the moment because he’s busy right now, referring to the Chiefs preparing for this Sunday’s AFC Championship game.

Where to play golf around Las Vegas: Golfweek’s Best 2023 public-access courses

Thanks to Golfweek’s Best rankings, we break out the top courses around Las Vegas.

Ready to make a break from the casinos or hectic pace of the Las Vegas Strip? If you’re looking for the top golf courses around Sin City, Golfweek’s Best has you covered.

If you’re willing to drive a bit, there are several courses in this region that appear on the Golfweek’s Best rankings of top public-access layouts in Nevada. All the courses listed below are within an hour’s drive of Harry Reid International Airport, which sits adjacent to the Strip. But it’s not as easy as pulling up our state-by-state rankings, which list Nevada courses that might be a considerable drive away.

For this exercise, we used Google Maps and punched in each course as of a regular Saturday morning to determine drive times. Keep in mind that traffic near Las Vegas, especially around the Strip, can be slow – take all these times with a grain of salt.

Included with this list is a general map of where to find all these courses. Each one on the list below is represented with a number on the map – keep scrolling to see the numbers.

Included with each course is its position in Nevada on the Golfweek’s Best public-access list. For any course that appears on our other popular rankings lists, those positions are included as well.

A little background: The hundreds of members of our course-ratings panel continually evaluate courses and rate them on 10 criteria on a points basis of 1 through 10. They also file a single, overall rating on each course. Those overall ratings are averaged to produce all our Golfweek’s Best course rankings.

The courses on this list allow public access in some fashion, be it standard daily green fees, through a resort or casino, or by staying at an affiliated hotel. If there’s a will, there’s a tee time – no membership required.

Steph Curry works with Butch Harmon, Klay Thompson watches Tiger Woods videos ahead of The Match in Las Vegas

Curry and Thompson will take on Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce this Thursday at the Wynn in Las Vegas.

NBA greats Steph Curry and Klay Thompson of the Golden State Warriors are taking on NFL legends Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs in the latest edition of The Match this Thursday at the Wynn in Las Vegas.

Mahomes teamed up with Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen last time around, losing to Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers. Curry has also played in The Match series, losing alongside Peyton Manning to Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley.

Although those two may have some scar tissue, their teammates are making their Match debut.

Kelce claimed he’s around a 10 handicap when talking with the media Tuesday. As for Thompson, he’s somewhere in the double digits.

Curry, on the other hand, has serious game.

He’s played on the Korn Ferry Tour, has finished inside the top 10 in two of the last three American Century Championships at Lake Tahoe and has now sought advice from one of the best golf instructors in the world.

Lynch: The Match proves golf can be a fun product, without trading virtues for vulgarity

Butch Harmon has helped the likes of Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson and Rickie Fowler, and has been dubbed more of a life coach than golf coach.

Curry is hoping to implement some of Harmon’s practices when he tees it up later this week.

“For me, it’s that fine balance of not getting information overload and having 800 swing thoughts in your head,” Curry said. “Up until last summer, I never got any teaching or coaching. You have to understand how to apply whatever information you’re learning on the course, which is a totally different experience. Just trying to keep things as simple as possible.

“Butch gave me one little swing thought that I’ll probably talk about on the telecast if I hit a good shot, give him a shout-out. Just trying to build a little of confidence but not overcomplicate just being an athlete out there.”

Thompson reiterated Curry’s point of not overcomplicating things, but he did admit he’s been doing some research on YouTube.

“I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube. Last night I watched Dustin Johnson and Rory McIlroy’s tutorial on scoring shots. I learned some things. I’ve just been trying to pick up tips from the pros.

“Haven’t watched any basketball the last few weeks, just all golf stuff. Lots of Tiger highlights, too.”

The Curry/Thompson vs. Mahomes/Kelce battle will begin at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. It will be televised on TNT, truTV and HLN and streamed on Sling TV.

For $1 million, you can play Wynn Las Vegas (and get a bunch of other amazing things as part of an F1 Las Vegas ultimate fan experience)

If you have $1 million to spare, you can do the Vegas F1 race in 2023 in style.

Ever want to tee it up at Wynn Las Vegas? You got a million bucks?

Just off the strip behind the Wynn Las Vegas hotel and casino, the golf course is one of the highest daily-fee tracks in the U.S.

The course is No. 5 on Golfweek’s Best list of the top public-access courses in Nevada in 2022 and No. 19 on Golfweek’s Best list of the top casino courses in the U.S. It’ll set you back about $550, so you obviously don’t need to spend $1 million to play there.

That is unless you want to be a part of the official Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix 2023 Million Dollar All-Access Experience by Wynn Las Vegas.

That’s right, golf and race fans, you can enjoy the F1 race in Vegas in style.

The racing circuit has taken the U.S. by storm and the countdown is on to November 2023. In March, F1 announced it will stage a night race with part of the 3.8-mile track going right down the Strip. F1 cars can top 200 mph and they will fly right by some of the famous Vegas hotels and landmarks. The route will have 50 laps with 17 turns and three straightaways.

Tickets to the general public went on sale Nov. 5, 2022, a full year ahead of the festivities.

For high rollers, however, there may only be one way to go and that’s where the $1 million comes in.

Wynn Las Vegas says it’s “pulled out all the stops to create an epic race weekend that positions you at the heart of all the action, while also offering an exceptional level of VIP detail to your stay, from luxurious accommodations and amenities to exclusive resort and F1 events and, of course, superior Five-Star service.”

In addition to a round at Wynn Golf Club, your $1 million also gets you:

  • Airport arrival and departure to and from the F1 Paddock
  • A Jeroboam of Dom Perignon and caviar upon arrival
  • Four nights in a 5,829-square-foot suite with two-story windows
  • Red Carpet viewing and kick-off party
  • VIP access to exclusive Wynn race-week events
  • Dinner for six at Delilah
  • Golf for six at Wynn Golf Club followed by a visit to the spa

Of course, you can’t just go online and buy this experience. You must first fill out an inquiry form.

Talk about bragging rights.

Tracker: Shot-to-shot updates of the Match VI at Wynn Las Vegas

Can’t watch Wednesday night’s Match? Don’t worry, we have you covered with shot-to-shot updates of the showdown in Vegas.

Stuck working late? Wife (or husband) has control over the remote tonight and you’re stuck watching HGTV? Don’t worry, we have you covered.

The Match VI between Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers vs. Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes at the Wynn Las Vegas tees off Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. ET.

This will be Allen and Mahomes’ first Match, while their counterparts have both been part of at least one made-for-TV match.

There has been a lot of trash talk leading up to Wednesday, including Rodgers calling Mahomes “Kermit the frog.”

The format is 12 holes, like the Bryson DeChambeau vs. Brooks Koepka match, with different competitions weaved in throughout.

Capital One’s The Match will return with only NFL quarterbacks as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers will take on Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen

This time around, it’s an all-quarterback challenge at the Wynn in Vegas.

The Match is back.

There won’t be any PGA Tour players this time around. It’s going to be all quarterbacks on the Vegas strip.

Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers will take on Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills at the Wynn Las Vegas on June 1 in the latest installment of Capital One’s The Match.

There will be subplots aplenty for this one. Brady was briefly retired before returning to the Bucs. Rodgers was long rumored to be leaving Green Bay but now has a boffo new contract. And Mahomes and Allen engineered one of the most amazing NFL playoff games of all time.

Yep, there will be plenty of subjects for these four to discuss during their match. All four QBs will be mic’ed during the event and they will be able to chat with their fellow competitors as well as the announcers.

The format will be a 12-hole challenge, similar to the the way Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau squared off. Koepka won that one going away. TNT will have the live coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. ET (3:30 p.m. in Vegas).

Further details yet to be announced: the full name of the event, the participating play-by-play announcers and on-course reporters, streaming options for fans watching at home, which 12 holes at the Wynn will be used and  which charities will benefit from the event. But those details will all be released in due time.

We do know this will be the first Match experience for Mahomes and Allen. Previous installments had Rodgers teamed up with DeChambeau in July of 2021, when they defeated Brady and Mickelson. In May of 2020, Mickelson and Brady lost to the duo of Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning.

‘Any questions?’ Brooks Koepka rolls Bryson DeChambeau in The Match

Bryson brought out some Koep-cakes on the first tee but Brooks had the last laugh.

After months and months of build up, the feud between Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau finally has a winner.

Koepka made quick, easy work of DeChambeau on Friday at the Wynn Golf Club on the Las Vegas strip, winning the 12-hole match on Friday in dominant fashion. DeChambeau didn’t win a single hole while Koepka claimed Nos. 2, 5, 6 and 8 to cruise to the 4-and-3 win.

The day started with Koepka taking a shot at DeChambeau with his golf cart. The match started with DeChambeau taking a shot at Koepka by bringing out some “Brooks Koepka cupcakes” for the small gallery. After dominating most of the feud, Koepka wound up having his cupcake and eating it, too.

After taking a three-up lead through the opening six holes, Koepka asked aloud: “Any questions?”

If history is to repeat itself, like it did with Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, don’t be surprised if there’s a rematch in the near future (especially with the upcoming increase to the PGA Tour’s Player Impact Program).
