The Wisconsin Badgers defeated Rutgers 42-7 on Saturday afternoon on the road in Piscataway, New Jersey. The team improved to 6-0 all-time against the Scarlet Knights, while impressively notching its second-straight contest with 40 points and more than 500 total yards.

Running back Tawee Walker had himself a monster day, turning 24 carries into 198 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. It was his third straight multi-score game, as he’s notched eight rushing touchdowns over the last three contests.

As a whole, the Badgers churned out 309 rushing yards in the game, while both quarterback Braedyn Locke and running back Darrion Dupree also scored touchdowns with their legs.

As a passer, Locke completed 20 of 28 passes for 240 yards and a touchdown while also throwing an interception in the victory. Locke and wide receiver Will Pauling connected on a 16-yard score early in the first quarter, giving the Badgers an early 7-0 lead.

Wisconsin was also dominant on the defensive side of the ball, holding quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis to 12 completions on 32 pass attempts for 103 yards and an interception (Preston Zachman, 3rd quarter). Additionally, Rutgers star running back Kyle Monangai was limited to just 72 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

The Wisconsin Badgers (3-2) remained unranked in the latest AP Poll after their 52-6 victory over Purdue at home on Saturday.

The Badgers snapped a two-game losing streak, winning their 18th consecutive matchup against the Boilermakers. Wisconsin was also left out of the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after the win as well.

Week 6 of the college football season was full of upsets and the AP Poll reflects that. Most notably, No. 1 Alabama fell to Vanderbilt 40-35 and No. 4 Tennessee lost to Arkansas 19-14.

The new top five is Texas at No. 1, Ohio State at No. 2, Oregon at No. 3, Penn State at No. 4 and Georgia at No. 5.

The Big Ten teams in the AP Poll top 25 include Ohio State at No. 2, Oregon at No. 3, Penn State at No. 4, Indiana at No. 18, Illinois at No. 23 and Michigan at No. 24.

The Badgers will look to make it back-to-back wins when they travel to face Rutgers on the road next Saturday at 11:00 a.m. CT.

Badgers start season 2-0 in Big Ten

The Badgers football team hosted Rutgers at Camp Randall for a conference matchup on Saturday in Madison, defeating the Scarlet Knights 24-13. Wisconsin got out to a 10-0 lead and Rutgers was threatening to score prior to the largest defensive play of the year for the Badgers.

While the Scarlet Knights were inside the 10 yard-line, Badgers cornerback Ricardo Hallman stepped in front of a pass from Gavin Wimsatt with less than 20 seconds left, returning it all the back for a 95-yard touchdown.

After taking a 17-0 lead into halftime, Wisconsin was able to play conservatively in the second half and take home a 24-13 victory and improve to 2-0 in Big Ten play.

After another week of college football action, there was some movement with the latest US LBM Coaches Poll.

The Badgers returned to play this week, beating Rutgers 24-13 at home, improving to 4-1 on the season. Quarterback Tanner Mordecai passed for 145 yards and a score while Braelon Allen turned 21 carries into 101 yards and a touchdown. The biggest play in the game came right before halftime when cornerback Ricardo Hallman picked off Rutgers QB Gavin Wimsatt and returned it for a 95-yard touchdown.

After what was a relatively quiet first half for the Badgers, the Camp Randall crowd was sent into a frenzy when cornerback Ricardo Hallman picked off Rutgers quarterback Gavin Wimsatt with 20 seconds to go in the first half, returning the ball 95 yards for a touchdown. The score gave Wisconsin a 17-0 lead going into halftime.

It was Hallman’s third interception in the last game and a half after he picked off Purdue quarterback Hudson Card twice in Wisconsin’s 38-17 win two weeks ago. He’s now up to four interceptions this season.
