Five-time pro-bowler Marshawn Lynch signed with the Seattle Seahawks for $60,588 for Week 17 as they’re set to battle their NFC West rival, the San Francisco 49ers.

Five-time pro-bowler Marshawn Lynch signed with the Seattle Seahawks for $60,588 for Week 17 as they’re set to battle their NFC West rival, the San Francisco 49ers.

The Oakland native will also receive his playoff share plus whatever money he makes in new endorsement opportunities, such as with his “Unfinished Business” apparel.

Number 24 has always been a 12th man and NFL favorite throughout his career whether it’s his love for Skittles or his witty responses to the media.

The Seahawks have been decimated by injuries at the running back position, with Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, and CJ Prosise all out for the season.

Will Lynch return as the running back who averages 4.3 yards per game or will father time turn Beast Mode into Feast Mode for the defense?

The Seahawks have a chance to claim home-field advantage for the N-F-C playoffs with a win and losses by New Orleans and Green Bay.

Behind Seahawks enemy lines: 3 questions for Niners Wire Week 17

Niners Wire answers 3 questions for Seahawks fans ahead of the Week 17 battle between San Francisco and Seattle for the NFC West title.

The Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers will be battling for the NFC West title Sunday night at CenturyLink Field. Kyle Madson, the managing editor of Niners Wire, answered three questions for Seattle fans ahead of the Week 17 contest between Seattle and San Francisco.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said the 49ers won’t be preparing any differently now that Seattle has added running back Marshawn Lynch back to the lineup. Do you see Lynch actually being a factor for the Seahawks on Sunday?

From an emotional standpoint, certainly. That crowd is going to be insane and any positive thing Lynch does will be answered with a little extra verve from the fans at CenturyLink. However, defensive coordinator Robert Saleh on Thursday told reporters Lynch has a similar running style to Chris Carson, so they’re not going to bring anything different defensively. I don’t think Lynch plays a huge role just because jumping back into an NFL game after a year off isn’t easy, but I do think he’ll be important in helping get the crowd into it early and aiding a fast start for the home team. If they get ahead early, it could be a long day for the 49ers.

Seahawks opposing quarterback preview: Niners’ Jimmy Garoppolo

The Seattle Seahawks will square off against the San Francisco 49ers and quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo for the NFC West division title.

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their biggest game of the year, and perhaps the biggest in a few seasons, when they host the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC West championship game on Sunday. In order to help secure their first division title since 2016, the Seahawks will need to stop quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo once more.

When the Seahawks first faced off against Garoppolo this year, it was on the road for “Monday Night Football.” The Seahawks defense, led by a ferocious effort from Jadeveon Clowney, disrupted Garoppolo all night long.

The Eastern Illinois standout and former New England Patriot quarterback finished the night completing only 52.2% of his passes for 248 yards, a touchdown, an interception, and two lost fumbles – one of which was returned for a critical Seattle score.

Garoppolo has struggled with ball security all year, as he has thrown 13 picks and fumbled the ball 10 times, losing five.

However, despite his proclivity to turning the ball over, Garoppolo has actually been playing some of his best football. Since losing to Seattle, he has led the Niners on three game-winning drives, including a four-touchdown performance in New Orleans to defeat the Saints.

Garoppolo may be heating up, but turnovers still remain a crucial weakness in his game. The Seahawks defense leads the NFC in takeaways, but their performance as a whole is so reliant upon creating them to the point where it is sink or swim for Seattle

The Seahawks will need another monstrous performance and force a few more from Garoppolo if they have any hope of upsetting the Niners and claiming the NFC West crown for themselves.

Who will be most impactful in return, Marshawn Lynch or J.J. Watt?

The Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans will both be seeing the return of a key player to the lineup Week 17 – Marshawn Lynch and J.J. Watt.

The Seattle Seahawks and Houston Texans are both looking ahead to the playoffs with the return of a key player back to the lineup.

Running back Marshawn Lynch was re-signed to the roster over a year removed from football to assist in Seattle’s depleted run game. J.J. Watt, who sustained a torn pectoral muscle Week 8, is resuming practice and could be available by the Texans’ first postseason game.

Here’s a look at which player could be most impactful for his team as the clubs head into the playoffs.

Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey chasing history in Week 17 vs. Saints

Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey is looking for his first 1000/1000-yard season in Week 17 against the New Orleans Saints.

The Carolina Panthers don’t have much to play for in Week 17, but they aren’t going to pull any punches against the New Orleans Saints. Panthers offensive coordinator Scott Turner told ESPN’s David Newton that he plans to funnel as many touches as possible to running back Christian McCaffrey, who is close to making NFL history as just the third player to record 1,000 rushing yards and 1,000 receiving yards in a single season.

McCaffrey needs 67 yards through the air to join that company, having already racked up 1,361 rushing yards this year. He collected 69 receiving yards against the Saints in their meeting earlier this season, including a touchdown grab, which is slightly higher than his season average (62.2). He’s averaged 58.4 receiving yards per game against the Saints in five previous games.

If McCaffrey does go the distance, he’ll take his place next to two NFL legends: San Francisco 49ers great Roger Craig (1,050 rushing yards and 1,016 receiving yards in 1985) and then-St. Louis Rams star Marshall Faulk (1,381 rushing yards and 1,048 receiving yards in 1999). It’s a testament to McCaffrey’s athleticism, durability, and versatile set of skills that he’s put the team on his back this season and put up this level of production.

Hopefully, the Saints defense will be prepared to deny him that spot next to Craig and Faulk. They could be short-handed after losing defensive linemen Marcus Davenport and Sheldon Rankins to injured reserve a few weeks ago, and with defensive backs Marcus Williams and Eli Apple exiting last week’s game with the Tennessee Titans. Just because they’re almost to the playoffs doesn’t mean they can overlook this opponent.

Well, it’s finally over. We didn’t think we would get here 17 weeks ago, but the NFL regular season has come and gone and all we have left are 11 regular-season games that truly matter and these playoff scenarios.

The good news is that we get a lot of football on Sunday so break out those multiple televisions, Sunday Ticket streams, and local HD antennae because we have all the football available on Sunday and not much more after that.

Everyone knows the Sunday night game features the Niners versus the Seahawks in Seattle. The other games you’ll get on Sunday are in the next few pages. Let’s check them out.

How to watch, stream and listen to Seahawks vs. 49ers Week 17

Everything you need to know to catch the Week 17 action when the Seattle Seahawks host the San Francisco 49ers for the NFC West title.

The Seattle Seahawks will host the San Francisco 49ers Week 17 at CenturyLink Field in a battle for the NFC West crown. With everything on the line for both teams, the game has been flexed to primetime “Sunday Night Football.

“It’s a very special week for us – last week of the season,” coach Pete Carroll said Tuesday. “Playing for everything, for the division and all that. We’re very fortunate to be in that situation. It is what we aim for. This is what we always look towards. We’re always wondering if the chance to do something like this is going to happen on the road or happen at home. We’re thrilled we’ll be here.”

Both clubs have already clinched a spot in the playoffs, but the winner of Sunday’s matchup will own the division. The Seahawks beat the 49ers on the road earlier this year, but Carroll certainly isn’t looking past them at home.

“This is a really good football team we’re playing, obviously,” Carroll explained. “They’ve done so many good things this year. A fantastic turn around by their program and their coaches and their players and all that. They’ve been flying all season long. They’ve had a lot of really extraordinary games since we saw them in the last month and a half or whatever it is. They’re ready for everything right now.”
