How former Alabama players performed in Week 13 of NFL season

Roll Tide Wire takes a close look at how former Alabama players performed in Week 13 of the NFL season.

Alabama is one of the top programs in the country when it comes to producing NFL talent. The Crimson Tide are well-represented on both sides of the ball and at just about every position on the football field.

Week 13 of the 2023 season kicked off on last Thursday night and concluded on Monday night, which means there were a lot of former Alabama players suiting up for their respective professional teams.

Believe it or not, 26 of the 32 teams in the NFL have at least one Alabama player on its roster. There are not many college programs that can say the same.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down how former Alabama players performed in their Week 13 matchups.

8 studs from Chiefs’ loss to Packers in Week 13

These eight players stood out as top performers for the #Chiefs during Kansas City’s Week 13 loss to the #Packers.

The Kansas City Chiefs saw victory slip through their hands during their Week 13 loss to the Green Bay Packers, plenty of players put together admirable performances that set a good tone for the team, despite the loss.

Injuries played a key factor in the matchup’s outcome, and several Chiefs stepped up in a tight spot to give Kansas City a chance to make a late-game comeback. If not for a few questionable calls on the final drive of the Sunday Night Football showdown, the Chiefs may have been able to overcome the severe adversity they faced in the game to complete a come-from-behind win at Lambeau Field.

Though some pundits will choose to focus on what Kansas City didn’t do in this tilt, the intrigue in watching the Chiefs’ backups compete was worth tuning in for, even if they were behind the eight-ball in all four quarters.

Check out which players were Kansas City’s studs in Week 13:

Chiefs stock watch: Which players impressed during Week 13 vs. Packers?

Here’s a look at the stock trends for some #Chiefs players after the Week 13 loss to the #Packers. | from: @EdEastonJr

The expected cold and wintery weather at Lambeau Field was in play on Sunday night as the legendary setting lived up to its billing. In front of celebrities supporting both sides, the Kansas City Chiefs fell short on the road to the Green Bay Packers.

Mahomes picked up where he left off last week with another efficient performance through the air, except for the late fourth-quarter interception. The offense, however, was sparked by starting running back Isiah Pacheco’s bruising runs, pushing the Packers’ defense to its limits.

The injury of left tackle Donovan Smith forced rookie Wanya Morris to step in and play against a tremendous Green Bay pass rush. Rashee Rice has established himself as the go-to wide receiver of the room, while Travis Kelce racked up the yards per reception.

The defense struggled with injuries, losing Drue Tranquill and Bryan Cook to significant injuries during the game. The injuries immediately affected the secondary as Jordan Love successfully connected on multiple big pass plays to his wide receivers. The defensive line secured sacks with Mike Danna and Chris Jones as the Packers’ offensive line held solid most of the night.

The Chiefs fail to reach nine wins as they continue to battle with multiple teams in the AFC for a potential first-round bye in the postseason.

Here’s a look at how the stock is trending for some players after the Week 13 victory at Lambeau Field:

NFL playoff picture: Broncos have less room for error now

After losing to the Texans, the Broncos are now 6-6 with a 3-5 conference record. The playoffs are still possible, but it will be tough.

Following a 22-17 loss to the Houston Texans on Sunday, the Denver Broncos are now 6-6 with a 3-5 in-conference record.

Making the playoffs is still possible, but the Broncos will face a tougher road to the postseason now. Houston (7-5) has a better record and a head-to-head tiebreaker, and the Indianapolis Colts (7-5) also won on Sunday.

The Pittsburgh Steelers (7-4) did lose in Week 13 and Denver has a head-to-head win over the Cleveland Browns (), but if the Broncos don’t win out, they might need help from other teams to make the playoffs.

Here’s a look at the AFC’s playoff picture after Sunday’s games.

Division Leaders

1. Miami Dolphins (9-3)
2. Baltimore Ravens (9-3)
3. Kansas City Chiefs (8-3)
4. Jacksonville Jaguars (8-3)

Wild Card Leaders

5. Pittsburgh Steelers (7-4)
6. Cleveland Browns (7-5)
7. Indianapolis Colts (7-5)

In the Hunt

8. Houston Texans (7-5)
9. Denver Broncos (6-6)
10. Buffalo Bills (6-6)
11. Cincinnati Bengals (5-6)

Up next for the Broncos is a road game against the Los Angeles Chargers (5-7) in Week 14. If Denver is going to keep its playoff hopes alive, the Broncos need to get an in-conference victory next week.

‘Swifties’ react to Taylor Swift, Chiefs’ Week 13 loss vs. Packers on ‘Sunday Night Football’

“Swifties” reacted to Taylor Swift’s appearance at the #Chiefs’ Week 13 loss to the #Packers on “Sunday Night Football” at Lambeau Field

Taylor Swift made the trip to Lambeau Field to watch the Kansas City Chiefs lay an egg against the Green Bay Packers, and while her attendance wasn’t referenced much on the Sunday Night Football broadcast, her devoted fans, the “Swifties” were soaking up as much as they could on social media channels.

The primetime matchup marked the first time that Kansas City has lost a game with the 12-time Grammy winner in the audience, and while many Chiefs fans hoped that her presence would bring their team good luck, it seems that nothing would help Andy Reid’s offense overcome itself.

“Swifties” took to Twitter to document their experience watching Kansas City’s brutal loss in Week 13, and reacted to the defeat with the same fervor that informs their rabid obsession with Swift and her music.

Check out some of their top Tweets about the game below to get a sense of their perspective:

Where the Saints stand in the NFL playoff picture after Week 13

The Saints remain out of the playoff picture with a loss to the Lions. How far behind are they?

The New Orleans Saints fall short on another comeback attempt. That loss had ramifications on their divisional standings and their playoff standing. The Atlanta Falcons have a full game lead on the NFC South and the Saints find themselves tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Here is how the Saints stack up among their peers:

Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco notched third career 100-yard game vs. Packers

#Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco put togetherthe third 100-yard game of his career against the Packers in Week 13.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco notched the third 100-yard game of his young career against the Green Bay Packers in Week 13 on Sunday Night Football. The second-year running back was one of Kansas City’s most productive contributors on offense but was ejected late in the game when tempers flared in the fourth quarter.

Though his performance was overshadowed by the dysfunction that has plagued the Chiefs in recent weeks, Pacheco’s outstanding effort was a major reason that Kansas City had a chance to win late in the game.

While it wasn’t enough to push the Chiefs over the edge, Pacheco’s showing should be enough to warrant more involvement in Andy Reid’s offense through the end of the season if the veteran head coach elects to lean on what works instead of attempting to force the ball downfield in the passing game.

Expect to see a steady dose of the Rutgers product in Kansas City’s Week 14 game against the Buffalo Bills.

Studs and duds from Broncos’ 22-17 loss to Texans

Here are the studs and duds from the Broncos’ first loss since October.

The Denver Broncos lost their first game since mid-October on Sunday, and this time, they lost to another playoff contender in the Houston Texans. If Denver misses the playoffs by one game, this will be the game everyone points to as the one that got away.

Here are studs and duds from the 22-17 loss.

Falcons vs. Jets: Best highlights from Week 13

WATCH: Top plays from the Falcons’ 13-8 win over the Jets

The Atlanta Falcons turned in a sluggish offensive performance, but the team did enough to defeat the New York Jets in Week 13. The game’s only touchdown happened in the second quarter when Desmond Ridder connected with MyCole Pruitt for a 20-yard score.

Atlanta’s defense did the rest and the team now sits at 6-6 with five games remaining. Check out the top plays from Sunday’s 13-8 win over the Jets at MetLife Stadium below.
