NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year voting: Jayden Daniels, Brock Bowers only to receive 1st place votes

Only two rookies received first place votes for the AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year — Jayden Daniels and Brock Bowers.

Friday night the NFL Honors led out with the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award. To the surprise of no one, Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels took home the award. But he wasn’t a unanimous selection. One other received a vote — Raiders TE Brock Bowers.

Of the 50 votes for AP Offensive Rookie of the Year, Daniels received 49 of them. The other first place vote went to Brock Bowers.

Here’s the full voting results:

Daniels had a tremendous season and was deserving of this award. He led the Commanders to the playoffs and even won a playoff game. But Bowers deserved recognition for his historic season.

The main reason Bowers didn’t stand a chance against Daniels was his position. Despite Bowers breaking a rookie tight end record that stood for six decades, despite setting the rookie receptions record…twice, and despite setting a new Raiders franchise receptions record (112), a tight end will always take a backseat to an elite quarterback.

Bowers did, lead the way in second place votes, getting 32 — 17 more than Broncos QB Bo Nix who also led his team to the playoffs. No one else was even in the conversation.

Which rookie is closest to Jayden Daniels in Pro Bowl voting?

Daniels leads all rookies in Pro Bowl voting. His closest competition is not a quarterback.

This week, the NFL revealed the first results of fan voting for the 2025 Pro Bowl. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson led the way, which was no surprise. Rounding out the top five was Ravens running back Derrick Henry, Eagles running back Saquon Barkley, Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Lions running Jahmyr Gibbs.

Washington Commanders rookie sensation Jayden Daniels was the top-ranked quarterback in the NFC. Daniels, the favorite for the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, has Washington in playoff contention, only one year after the franchise finished 4-13.

Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix is Daniels’ biggest competition for the Rookie of the Year award. However, Nix is way behind Daniels in Pro Bowl voting.

The closest rookie to Daniels? Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers. The No. 13 overall pick from the 2024 NFL draft, Bowers is already one of the NFL’s top tight ends, with 84 receptions, 884 yards and four touchdowns.

In a normal year, Bowers would have the NFL OROY award locked up. However, with multiple top quarterback prospects in the same rookie class, Bowers likely has no chance at the award.

However, the Pro Bowl is another story. Bowers is on pace for over 100 receptions, making him only the fourth rookie in NFL history with over 100 receptions. Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua set a new record with 105 receptions last season.

Surprising Saints rookie leads his position group in NFC Pro Bowl votes

After the first week of Pro Bowl voting, it’s New Orleans Saints rookie punter Matthew Hayball ahead of his peers in the NFC:

With the start of the 2025 Pro Bowl voting starting officially just week ago, we have received our first update on the current leaders of each position group in the league. You can cast your vote here.

As the New Orleans Saints have fallen apart with many injuries sustained over the course of the year, it was highly unlikely that they’d have any Pro Bowl players let alone a top vote-getter.

Turns out, that just might not be the case. Undrafted rookie punter Matthew Hayball currently leads the NFC in Pro Bowl votes at his position. Quite a pleasant surprise, isn’t it?

For those who may not know, Hayball is currently first in the NFC with 29 punts pinned inside the 20. That’s eight more than the next-closest player.

Diving a little bit deeper into the statistics, one may say that Hayball has punted 50 times this season tying him for third most the conference. However, in comparison to the punters’ ahead of him in this category, Hayball has been far more efficient in terms of forcing opponents into poor field position.

Hayball also ranks in the top five in total punt yardage and touchbacks but for the most part is somewhere between average and the bottom of the conference elsewhere. This is likely indicative of Hayball not having the biggest leg but makes up for it with his ability to accurately place his kicks.

Credit to special teams guru, now head coach Darren Rizzi, as well as the teams scouting department for locating Hayball this offseason. The Saints potentially have their long term solution at the punter position, after years of searching for Thomas Morstead replacement, a former franchise hero and Super Bowl XLIV champion.

Jayden Daniels leads Pro Bowl voting among NFC QBs: Where’s Terry McLaurin?

Jayden Daniels leads NFC QBs in Pro Bowl voting. Where are some other Commanders ranked?

Despite a recent three-game losing streak, it’s been a dream season for the Washington Commanders. After going 4-13 last season, the Commanders have eight wins on the season — with four games remaining — and are firmly in the NFC playoff picture.

Outside of general manager Adam Peters and head coach Dan Quinn, sensational rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels leads the way. The No. 2 overall pick from the 2024 NFL draft has completed almost 70% of his passes for 2,819 yards, with 15 touchdowns, six interceptions, 590 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Daniels has set numerous NFL rookie records this season, even a couple of NFL records, and has won the Rookie of the Week award several times. So, it’s no surprise that Daniels is ranked as the No. 1 quarterback in the NFC in fan voting for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Daniels is ranked fourth among NFL quarterbacks.

Who are some of the other Commanders ranked in the fan voting for their various positions?

  • WR Terry McLaurin: 4th among NFL WRs
  • C Tyler Biadasz: 9th among NFL centers
  • LB Bobby Wagner: 4th among NFL ILBs
  • LB Dante Fowler Jr: 5th among NFL OLBs
  • LB Frankie Luvu: 9th among NFL OLBs

  • Social voting — During the final two weeks of voting (Dec. 9 – Dec. 23), fans can vote directly on “X” (formerly Twitter) by tweeting the first and last name of the player, tagging the player’s official Twitter handle or creating a hashtag including the player’s first and last name. All three of these methods must include the hashtag: #ProBowlVote. During the final two days (Dec. 22 – Dec. 23), social votes will count as double.

From the NFL:

Player selections will be determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches, with each group’s vote counting as one-third toward determining the all-star players who will be selected to this year’s Pro Bowl Games. The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its Pro Bowl teams. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on Friday, Dec. 27.

2025 Pro-Bowl: Vote for Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce using Chiefs’ official link

Use this official link to cast your 2025 Pro Bowl votes for Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes and TE Travis Kelce.

The NFL has officially announced the start of voting for the 2025 Pro Bowl in Orlando, Florida, and a number of Kansas City Chiefs players are great candidates to make the AFC’s roster.

Though the defending Super Bowl champions haven’t yet hit their stride in the regular season, star contributors like Chris Jones, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, and Kareem Hunt have dazzled fans with outstanding performances through Kansas City’s first 12 games.

With Pro Bowl voting underway, the Chiefs shared a link that fans can use to make their voices heard and get as many of Kansas City’s players into the prestigious event as possible.

Pro Bowl selections are one of the metrics that fans use to gauge a player’s dominance compared to their peers, and with so much talent concentrated on the Chiefs’ roster, the Kansas City faithful will need to get busy to ensure that their favorite standouts earn their spot on the AFC’s roster.

Twitter reacts to Chiefs’ five Pro Bowl selections

Twitter shared its thoughts about the #Chiefs’ five Pro Bowl selections when the rosters for each conference were revealed on Wednesday night

The Kansas City Chiefs saw five of their players get selected for the 2024 Pro Bowl on Wednesday night, marking an exceptional achievement for the team ahead of its playoff run later this month.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, center Creed, guard Joe Thuney, and defensive lineman Chris Jones will represent the Chiefs at the exclusive annual event, which will be held in Orlando, Florida in early February.

In a campaign that has been seen as a disappointment by some fans after Kansas City’s marvelous Super Bowl LVII victory, the Chiefs’ five Pro Bowl selections are good for the third-most in the AFC, and proof that the team’s stars still have the same firepower that brought a championship to Western Missouri in 2023.

Users on social media channels posted to the Pro Bowl selections after the voting was finalized, and made their thoughts on the matter clear.

Check out some of the top reactions to Wednesday night’s Pro Bowl roster reveal from Twitter:

Texans QB C.J. Stroud ranks second overall in fan voting for Pro Bowl

Texans rookie QB C.J. Stroud trails only Tua Tagovailoa in fan votes for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games.

Houston Texans rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud currently trails only one player in total number of votes from fans for the 2024 Pro Bowl Games.

As of Dec. 6, Stroud — with 44,095 fan votes — sits behind only Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (59,680 votes) among all NFL players.

Stroud, the second overall pick, has thrown 20 touchdown passes and five interceptions in 2023, and his 101.2 passer rating ranks fifth among all quarterbacks.

With Stroud at quarterback, the upstart Texans are 7-5 and currently in possession of a playoff spot in the AFC. Last year, the Texans finished 3-13-1. Stroud and first-year coach DeMeco Ryans have the Texans on a path toward a winning season for the first time since 2019.

The top five in fan votes so far:

1. Tua Tagovailoa, Dolphins: 59,680
2. C.J. Stroud, Texans: 44,095
3. Christian McCaffrey, 49ers: 43,331
4. Tyreek Hill, Dolphins: 39,928
5. Travis Kelce, Chiefs: 38,720

The voting process for the Pro Bowl involves votes from fans, coaches and players.

The 2024 Pro Bowl Games will be held in Orlando, Florida between Feb. 1-4.

Chargers social media seeks assistance to win 2023 Webby Awards

The Chargers’ social media team took to Twitter to ask for help from fans in their pursuit of a 2023 Webby Award.

The highly-skilled members of the Chargers’ social media department took to Twitter on Wednesday to ask their fans for help in their pursuit of two 2023 Webby Awards.

The annual honors recognize “excellence on the internet” according to the Webby organization’s website, and Chargers’ social media certainly fits that bill.

This year, the team is up for two awards, one for their popular anime schedule release in the general viral videos category, and another for their Youtube channel in the sports series and channels division.

Known for their creative approach to team coverage, Los Angeles’ social media team is among the most fun to follow across the NFL, and never take themselves too seriously. These awards, however, would be a great feather to put in their caps ahead of the 2023 season, and they are taking their contention for first place seriously.

Fans will have the deciding vote in choosing who wins or loses these key categories, so all of the Chargers faithful are implored to cast their ballot for Los Angeles before the polls close later this month.

Former teammates outnumber current Saints on NFLPA top-5 position leaders

More former Saints players have been named top-5 at their positions by NFLPA voting than their old teammates still on the roster:

Yikes. The NFLPA released its top-five lists at each position group after previously sharing its first-ever All-Pro team this year, and more of the New Orleans Saints’ former players were recognized than players who are still on the team.

Just two current Saints players ranked inside the top five vote-getters at their position: right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (who tied for fourth-most with the Minnesota Vikings’ Brian O’Neill) and off-ball linebacker Demario Davis (who also ranked fourth at his position group).

But three of their former teammates were listed on this league-spanning list. Some of the departures made sense in light of injury histories and contract demands, but others are still kind of baffling. Let’s review:

Tyrann Mathieu leads all Saints players in Pro Bowl voting

Tyrann Mathieu doesn’t just lead all New Orleans Saints players in Pro Bowl voting. He’s their only player who leads his position group:

Woof. The New Orleans Saints often send four, five, and six or more players to the Pro Bowl each year, but they aren’t exactly resonating with fans this season. After a week of voting on social media, just one Saints player leads his position group in votes across the NFC: free safety Tyrann Mathieu.

The NFL shared updates on Pro Bowl voting Wednesday, and Mathieu leads all safeties in the conference (as well as all Saints players) in votes with 44,674 ballots and counting. Public voting ends Thursday, Dec. 15 with players and coaches casting their votes on Friday, Dec. 16, and results to be announced shortly after.

It’s good to see at least one Saints player making some noise, but it’s hard to believe Mathieu isn’t getting a boost from his reputation. He hasn’t quite met expectations this season after signing with his hometown team as a much-lauded free agent pickup. Mathieu is credited with 2 interceptions and 5 pass breakups, plus a fumble recovery, 64 combined tackles (46 solo, 2 tackles for loss), and a quarterback hit. With that said, Mathieu has been selected for three Pro Bowls in his career and two in both of the last two years, so he’s clearly still popular with fans.

We’ll have to wait and see if any of the other regulars make the cut as well. Defensive end Cameron Jordan has made more Pro Bowl appearances (7) than anyone else on the roster, but the trio of running back Alvin Kamara (5), cornerback Marshon Lattimore (4), and wide receiver Michael Thomas (3) haven’t exactly impressed this season, though Lattimore and Thomas have both missed extensive time with injuries. Left guard Andrus Peat (3) and running back Mark Ingram II (2) are the only other players on the squad with multiple Pro Bowl nods, but they might be long shots this time around.
