Cameron Jordan had a career year with the New Orleans Saints in 2019, just months after he signed a hefty contract extension securing his ties with the team through 2023. Jordan logged a personal-best 15.5 sacks in 16 regular season games (plus another takedown in the playoffs), and you can watch all of them in the supercut shared by the NFL’s official Twitter account, which we’ve embedded below.

Beyond the immediate impact of all those highlight reel-worthy plays, Jordan’s sacks in 2019 caused his career total to rise to second-best in Saints history (87). The only player left for him to pass is Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Rickey Jackson, whose 115 career sacks are the most of any player to ever put on the black and gold.

Two important factors suggest that Jordan may reach that lofty goal. He just turned 30 last summer, putting him squarely in the prime of his playing career. The big defensive end has also bagged 12 or more sacks in each of the last three seasons, with little signs of slowing down. If he can keep up that pace, Jordan will be flirting with Jackson’s all-time record by 2022, when he’ll be 33. And it shouldn’t shock anyone if he end sup meeting it ahead of schedule.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees participated in the “Saving by Shaving” event benefiting Boston Children’s Hospital.

New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees was a celebrity guest at the “Saving by Shaving” event benefiting Boston Children’s Hospital, where he chose to have his head shaved as part of a fundraiser that ultimately raised $7 million.

Other notable participants included Boston Red Sox legend David Ortiz and Mass. Gov. Duane Baker Jr, as well as players from the New England Patriots and Boston Bruins. Brees also joined WEEI Radio for an interview before taking his spot in the barber’s chair, where he discussed his future with the Saints and shared his take on Tom Brady’s odds of re-signing with the Patriots.

Brees shared a video on Instagram of his first brush with the hair clippers, which you can see below. He’s the latest Saints player to cut his golden locks for a good cause — Thomas Morstead has regularly grown his hair out before donating it to charities working with pediatric cancer patients, while Sean Payton also shaved his head last summer to support a personal friend.

The Denver Broncos agreed to trade a fourth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for cornerback A.J. Bouye on Tuesday. The trade won’t become official until March 18 but both teams have signed off on the deal.

Here are some highlights from Bouye’s time in the NFL before landing in Denver:

Bouye, 28, has totaled 315 tackles and 14 tackles in his career. He will instantly become one of the Broncos’ top cornerbacks.

Peyton Manning and Drew Lock both attended Nuggets game on Sunday

Peyton Manning and Drew Lock watched the Nuggets defeat the Raptors in person.

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock and former NFL quarterback Peyton Manning both attended the Nuggets’ game against the Raptors at the Pepsi Center on Sunday evening. Denver defeated Toronto 133-118.

Lock was shown on the video board during the game and received a warm reception from fans. Vic Lombardi of Altitude Sports interviewed Lock during the game and asked about being adored in public as the Broncos’ quarterback.

“It’s been really good,” Lock said. “I think what people are missing here, though, is that Peyton Manning’s sitting over there courtside. They should really be giving him the big applause because he’s done a little bit more for this town than I have. But I’m hoping that I can do what he did for this town as well.”

Lombardi then asked Lock about the quarterback receiving pointers from Manning this offseason.

“We’ve been on the phone multiple times,” Lock said. “We’ve gone over everything from A-to-Z on what you should do in this offseason. When you should get your receivers together, how you do your regiment of throwing, of lifting, everything. He’s been such a big help to me in this offseason — my first one — to really get me going.”

Lock went 4-1 as a starter last season, throwing seven touchdown passes.

With the help of Manning, Lock should have an even better year in 2020.

One thing about Falcons head coach Dan Quinn that’s been the same since he was hired five years ago is his appreciation for competition in sports.

Like the rest of us, Quinn was saddened to learn of NBA legend Kobe Bryant’s tragic death last month. Talking with NFL Network about watching Bryant’s memorial, Quinn spoke of his appreciation for the five-time champion, who embodied hard work and was never afraid to try and be the best.

“You recognize what it looked like for somebody to go for it at the highest level,” said Quinn. “I think he lived it, demonstrated it, and people saw it.”

Watch: The Lions behind the scenes at the Senior Bowl

The Detroit Lions media department continues its “Road to the Draft” video series, with a new perspective, going behind the scenes at the Senior Bowl.

The Detroit Lions media department has put out a series of videos based on the Lions “Road to the Draft”, and so far, the videos we have seen — like being mic’d up at Senior Bowl practices, and coach Matt Patricia mic’s up during the Senior Bowl game — have been mostly from the coaches’ point of view. But this video is different.

In this video, the Lions’ media department shifted away from traditional mic’d up videos and presented a narrated video reminiscent of an NFL Films documentary.

The video opens by setting the table for the Lions offseason, showing clips from general manager’s Bob Quinn’s end of the year press conference and coach Matt Patricia’s opening day Senior Bowl press conference.

At the 4:55 mark, we get our first offseason interview with Kyle O’Brien the vice president of player personnel, who is one of Quinn’s top advisors. O’Brien overviews how the Lions scouts begin draft prep and how they’re able to extend their prospect research in the Senior Bowl setting.

Roman Phifer, a former NFL linebacker and current Lions’ area scout, and Lance Newmark, director of player personnel (another of Quinn’s top advisors), expand on O’Brien’s ideas, discussing the advantages of learning about players in this environment.

The next segment focuses on blending the new Lions coaches with the old, showing candid interactions between Patricia and new coordinators Cory Undlin (defense) and Brayden Coombs (special teams). The film room discussion between coaches was very fun to watch.

Broncos throwback: Justin Simmons had an excellent showing at 2016 NFL combine

With the 2020 NFL combine less than a week away, the Broncos’ official Twitter page recently posted a throwback video showing safety Justin Simmon’s impressive performance at the 2016 combine.

Simmons’ 40-inch vertical jump, 3.85-second 20-yard shuttle and 10.84-second 60-yard shuttle all ranked No. 1 among safeties. His 10-foot, six-inch broad jump ranked fourth at his position and his 4.61-second 40-yard dash ranked seventh among safeties.

Simmons also bench-pressed 225 pounds 16 times but NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein wasn’t impressed, predicting that the Boston College product would become a backup and special teams player in the NFL.

Denver’s staff was certainly more impressed than Zierlein and the Broncos selected Simmons in the third round of the draft. Simmons won a starting job in 2017 and he has totaled 288 tackles, two sacks, 28 pass breakups and 11 interceptions over the last four years.

Simmons is set to become an unrestricted free agent in March and Denver hopes to re-sign him to a long-term contract extension.

The Atlanta Falcons had a one-dimensional offense in 2019, but when you have Julio Jones, Matt Ryan, Austin Hooper and Calvin Ridley, that should be somewhat expected.

Averaging 23.8 points per game, the Falcons were ranked 13th in scoring offense, and fifth in yards per game with an average of 379.7. It wasn’t a season that will be remembered fondly but the team’s 6-2 run down the stretch provided some great moments.

Broncos throwback: Peyton Manning signs with Denver, football world reacts

Here’s how the NFL world reacted when Peyton Manning signed with the Broncos in 2012.

Broncos general manager John Elway pulled off the best signing of his career in 2012, landing superstar quarterback Peyton Manning on a five-year, $96 million contract.

With the anniversary of that signing one month away, the NFL’s “Throwback” channel posted a video compilation of reactions to Manning landing in Denver. The video is blocked from being viewed here but can be seen on YouTube.

After signing with the Broncos, Manning went on to help the team win the AFC West in four straight seasons, reaching two Super Bowls along the way. Following the 2015 season, Denver defeated the Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50.

With that victory, Manning became the first starting quarterback in NFL history to win a Super Bowl with two different teams. He retired after that Super Bowl win with 14 Pro Bowl nods and five NFL MVP awards on his resume. Manning will be eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.

The Atlanta Falcons have missed the playoffs for two straight seasons and while the front office elected keep the coaching staff in place for another year, the team will be wearing new uniforms in 2020.

It seems like something only fans and players would get excited about, however, head coach Dan Quinn was apparently pushing behind the scenes to get a new look for a few seasons.

In a recent interview on Matthew Tabeek’s Bird Noises podcast, Quinn talked about the effect that getting new uniforms can have on a team. Watch below, as tweeted out by the Falcons’ team Twitter account:
