Texas at Vanderbilt odds, picks and predictions

The 6th-ranked Texas Longhorns (6-1, 2-1 SEC) and 25th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores (5-2, 2-1) meet Saturday at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Texas vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Texas is looking to bounce back after a 30-15 loss at DKR against Georgia, its 1st setback of the season. After opening the season 4-0 against the spread (ATS) in the 1st 4 games, the Longhorns are 1-2 ATS in the past 3 outings. The Under has cashed in each of the past 3 games, too.

Vanderbilt stunned the world with a 40-35 victory against Alabama Oct. 5 as a 23-point underdog, and it followed that with a 20-13 victory at Kentucky as a 13-point ‘dog Oct. 12.

Last week, it’s possible Vandy was caught looking ahead, stumbling to a 24-14 win over Ball State as a 27.5-point favorite. The Under has cashed in each of the past 2 games after the Over was 5-0 in the 1st 5 outings.

Texas at Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas 37, Vanderbilt 17

Moneyline

Texas (-800) will cost you 8 times your potential return, which is way too much risk and not nearly enough reward. Even as part of a multi-leg parlay, including the Longhorns isn’t a recommended betting strategy.

Vanderbilt (+550) cannot be trusted, though. While QB Diego Pavia is a very strong signal caller, and he was huge against the Crimson Tide. But, he and the Commodores will be facing a difficult matchup against a very angry Longhorns team.

AVOID.

Against the spread

It’s worth playing TEXAS -17.5 (-105) lightly on the road. It’s easy to consider Vanderbilt +17.5 (-115) after upset wins over Alabama and Kentucky, but it really showed some weaknesses against Ball State last weekend.

While the Commodores won, it still has work to do before it takes that next step. The win over Bama was amazing, but it won’t happen against another national title contender.

Over/Under

OVER 51.5 (-110) is the lean, but go with a half-unit play at most.

There is some risk here, as the Under has cashed in 3 in a row for the Longhorns. The Over is 1-0 in the only true road game for Texas so far, however.

For Vandy, the Over is 5-2 in 7 games, although there is risk since the total has gone low in each of the previous 2 contests.

Vanderbilt Commodores at Kentucky Wildcats odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt Commodores at Kentucky Wildcats odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Vanderbilt Commodores (3-2, 1-1 SEC) visit the Kentucky Wildcats (3-2, 1-2) Saturday. Kickoff from Kroger Field is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt shocked the nation with a 40-35 win over Alabama Oct. 5 as a 23-point home underdog. QB Diego Pavia went 16 of 20 for 252 yards with 2 TDs, with his top receiver WR Eli Stowers hauling in 6 receptions for 113 yards. On the ground, RB Sedrick Alexander carried the ball 21 times for 64 yards and 2 TDs.

Kentucky upset Ole Miss 20-17 Sept. 28 as a 15.5-point road underdog. QB Brock Vandagriff went 18 of 28 for 243 yards with a TD, with WR Dane Key catching 8 passes for 105 yards and a TD.

Vanderbilt at Kentucky picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 27, Vanderbilt 23

Moneyline

PASS.

While Vanderbilt (+375) is intriguing after coming off such a big win, Kentucky (-500) has the home-field advantage and is coming off a week of rest.

Against the spread

BET VANDERBILT +12.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt bounced back from its 2-game losing streak in a big way last week and has shown promise. Pavia and company have covered the spread in 4 of their 5 games this season, including all 3 as a double-digit underdog. Kentucky is also 4-1 ATS, but it has scored 20 or fewer points in 3 of its last 4 games.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 44.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt has thrived on offense this season, scoring 27 or more points in each game and accumulating a 5-0 Over record. Going against a strong Kentucky defense, which has held opponents to 17 or fewer points in 3 straight games, may be challenging, but expect this game to contain a lot of back-and-forth action.

Alabama at Vanderbilt odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Alabama at Vanderbilt odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0, 1-0 SEC) face off against the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-2, 0-1) Saturday. Kickoff from FirstBank Stadium is set for 4:15 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Alabama vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt, who was off last week, was handed a 30-27 loss in 2OT by the No. 8 Missouri Tigers Sep. 21 while covering as a 17.5-point underdog. Vandy allowed Missouri to score all of the final 10 points in the loss. The Commodores have lost 2 straight and have allowed at least 30 points in both losses.

Alabama narrowly beat the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs 41-34 Saturday in a thrilling finish while covering as a 2-point underdog. Freshman WR Ryan Williams caught the go-ahead 75-yard TD pass with 2 minutes to go in the win. Alabama is No. 2 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.

Alabama at Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Alabama 41, Vanderbilt 28

Moneyline

PASS.

Alabama should pick up the win here as a -2500 favorite, but the Crimson Tide are not worth the risk of betting on as such heavy favorites. Bet on the spread and/or total instead.+

Against the spread

BET VANDERBILT +23.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt, despite being only 2-2 this season, has looked very solid when playing against higher-level opponents. The Crimson Tide’s defense this year is solid, but is only 8th in the SEC in total yards allowed per game (315.8). So Vanderbilt’s offense will be the key to covering here as a heavy underdog.

This Alabama squad is better than any team the Commodores have faced this season, but Vanderbilt will be able to cover.

Over/Under

BEY OVER 54.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in each of Vanderbilt’s 4 games this season and is 3-1 for Alabama this year, hitting in back-to-back games for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama should have no trouble scoring on this Vanderbilt defense, and I expect Vanderbilt to find some solid success offensively as well, so the Over is a safe bet here.

Vanderbilt at Missouri odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt at Missouri odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 8 Missouri Tigers (3-0, 0-0 SEC) welcome the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-1, 0-0) to Memorial Stadium for a conference clash Saturday. Kickoff is set for 4:15 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s college football odds around the Vanderbilt vs. Missouri odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Missouri opened the season witha 51-0 win against the Murray State Racers and then a 38-0 win over the Buffalo Bulls. The Tigers had a closer call with Boston College in Week 3, winning 27-21. Missouri is 2-1 against the spread (ATS), having played all 3 games at home. It is 0-3 O/U as well.

Vanderbilt opened its season with a surprise 34-27 win over the Virginia Tech Hokies as a 13-point underdog. It then beat Alcorn State 55-0 and had a surprise Week 3 loss to Georgia State 36-32. Vanderbilt is 0-1 ATS on the road and 1-0 ATS as an underdog. The Commodores QBs have yet to throw an INT, having accumulated 560 yards and 5 TDs.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 52.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3012″ ]

Vanderbilt at Missouri picks and predictions

Prediction

Missouri 41, Vanderbilt 17

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to play Missouri (-1600) to win outright at home, especially considering Vanderbilt (+900) has played better than expected this season. The Tigers are too expensive to play on the moneyline.

Against the spread

BET MISSORUI -20.5 (-105).

The Tigers have destroyed opponents this season, especially when they’re favored by 20 points or more. Missouri is 2-0 ATS when a favorite by that number. While the Tigers beat Boston College by just 6, they did end with  120 more rushing yards. They were the better side and arguably should’ve won by enough to cover.

Similarly, Vanderbilt is coming off its worst game of the season and lost as an 8.5-point favorite. It has yet to play a team of Missouri’s caliber. It lost every road game last season and lost its last 4 on the road by 20 or more.

Expect the Tigers to come out on top with ease and back MISSOURI -20.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET OVER 52.5 (-110).

This game is a battle between 2 polar opposites. The Commodores are 3-0 O/U while the Tigers are 0-2 O/U. The Commodores have scored 30 points or more in all 3 games and have allowed 27 points or more in 2 of 3.

The Tigers have a dynamic offense and have scored at least 38 points in 2 of 3 and 27 points or more in all 3. Missouri, in its lone game against a Power 4 side, gave up 21 points as well. Expect a high-scoring battle.

Play OVER 52.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt at Kentucky odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Vanderbilt at Kentucky odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vanderbilt Commodores (8-21, 3-13 SEC) take on the No. 13 Kentucky Wildcats (21-8, 11-5) Wednesday at Rupp Arena. Tip is set for 9 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Vanderbilt vs. Kentucky odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Vandy has lost 4 of 5 after a 75-61 home defeat to the LSU Tigers Saturday. Before that setback, it upset the Arkansas Razorbacks on the road as a 10-point dog. G Ezra Manjon dropped 22 on Arkansas and 17 against LSU.

The Wildcats, No. 13 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Pollhave won 3 in a row and 5 of 6. Their latest was a 111-102 victory over Arkansas, though they failed to cover the lofty 13-point spread. G Antonio Reeves has been money in the bank with 20+ in 5 straight games. UK clubbed the Commodores, 109-77, Feb. 6 in Nashville.

Vanderbilt at Kentucky picks and predictions

Prediction

Kentucky 101, Vanderbilt 68

Moneyline

Not much to see here as far as the ML goes.

As we touched on already, Reeves has dropped 20+ in 5 straight — actually 21+ in 5 straight. So, the books have cleverly anointed his number at 20.5. He had 24 against Vandy in the 1st meeting. and while this number doesn’t leave much wiggle room, I’m willing to ride it 1 more time.

Take ANTONIO REEVES OVER 20.5 POINTS (-130).

Against the spread

I really don’t like spreads like this. Because the risk vastly outweighs the reward. You’re betting on college kids that are more talented than the other team to drop the hammer on them and not let up. Should UK win by 18 or more? Yes. Is it possible that it isn’t as interested in doing that, as it is looking ahead to a big matchup in Knoxville against the Tennessee Vols? Yes.

Take UK ML + ANTONIO REEVES 20 POINTS (-156). There’s less of a payout, but it’s worth the safety net.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Over has cashed in 2 straight meetings, but those totals were 9 and 17 points fewer than this one. Vandy has touched 70 points 3 times in the last 10. So we’re really depending on Kentucky to drop 95 to cash this Over. UK is averaging 106.3 PPG over its last 3 games. It posted 109 against Vandy in Nashville. There isn’t much margin for error, but I’ll LEAN OVER 160.5 (-115).

Vanderbilt at Ole Miss odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt at Ole Miss odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Vanderbilt Commodores (2-6, 0-4 SEC) will travel to face the No. 11 Ole Miss Rebels (6-1, 3-1) in Week 9 on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Vanderbilt vs. Ole Miss odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt covered as 32.5-point home underdogs and hit the Over of 55 points despite falling 37-20 to No. 1 Georgia in Week 7. The Commodores are coming off of their bye week, but have lost 6 consecutive games after beginning the season with a 2-0 record.

Ole Miss managed to cover as 6.5-point favorites in its 28-21 road win over Auburn in Week 8 and the Under of 55.5 was achieved. The Rebels are on a 3-game winning streak following their 24-10 loss to No. 8 Alabama in Week 4. Ole Miss is the No. 11 ranked team in the US LBM Coaches Poll sponsored by USA TODAY Sports.

Vanderbilt at Ole Miss picks and predictions

Prediction

Ole Miss 48, Vanderbilt 21

Moneyline

Just go ahead and AVOID wagering on the moneyline in this game unless you believe Vanderbilt can pull off the massive upset. Taking Ole Miss to win straight up isn’t worth the risk at -5000 odds.

Against the spread

OLE MISS -24.5 (-105) is how I’d bet on the spread despite Vanderbilt surprisingly playing Georgia closer than expected in its last game. It was an outlier game for the Commodores in Week 7 as they have gone 1-7 ATS this season.

On the other hand, the Rebels are 5-2 ATS overall and 3-1 ATS at home entering Week 9.

Over/Under

OVER 63.5 (-110) is the play in this matchup as the Rebels should have no issues putting up points at home. QB Jaxson Dart has the offense averaging 39.7 points per game (tied for 9th-most in the nation) and the Commodores are allowing 34.4 points per game (10th-most in the nation).

With Vanderbilt’s defense not being a hindrance to any team, it is 7-0-1 to the Over this season. While Ole Miss is 3-4 to the Over so far, it is averaging 50.75 points per game at home.

The No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (6-0, 3-0 SEC) and Vanderbilt Commodores (2-5, 0-3) meet Saturday at FirstBank Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. ET (CBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Georgia vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Bulldogs moved their conference record to 3-0 with a dominant 51-13 victory over the No. 23 Kentucky Wildcats last Saturday. They easily covered the 14.5-point spread at home and cashed the Over (46.5). The cover ended an 0-3 against the spread (ATS) run and improved Georgia to 2-4 ATS on the year.

Vanderbilt lost its 5th straight game last Saturday against the Florida Gators 38-14. It currently sits in last place in the SEC East heading into this weekend’s game against No. 1 Georgia. The Commodores are losing by an average of nearly 20 points per game in conference play and have failed to cover the spread in any game this season.

Georgia is No. 1 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Georgia at Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Georgia 54, Vanderbilt 17

Moneyline

BetMGM is not even offering a moneyline bet on this game because the Bulldogs are such a heavy favorite. Just avoid and look to the spread and total.

AVOID.

Against the spread

BET GEORGIA -32.5 (-115).

It really does not matter how high this spread is, Georgia will dominate Vanderbilt in this one. In their last two meetings, Georgia has won by a combined 117-0. Vanderbilt has scored a grand total of 6 points against the Bulldogs in their last 12 quarters against each other.

The Bulldogs manhandled a much better Kentucky team last weekend. This Commodore team lost to Kentucky by 17 earlier this season. Georgia looks like it is finally hitting its stride offensively after starting a bit slow, and we know how dominant its defense can be every week.

You also have to consider that Vanderbilt has yet to cover any game this season, even against the lesser opponents it has faced.

Over/Under

BET OVER 55.5 (-110).

Vanderbilt is allowing 40 points per game to its opponents in conference play and Georgia is by far the best team it has faced thus far. According to TeamRankings.com, the Commodores are allowing 445.0 yards per game (115th-fewest in the country). The Bulldogs rank 8th in that category, allowing just 271.8 per game.

Georgia has scored at least 45 points in 4 of its 6 games this season.

The Missouri Tigers (4-0, 0-0 SEC) and the Vanderbilt Commodores (2-3, 0-1) meet Saturday at FirstBank Stadium in Nashville for an SEC East matchup. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (SEC Network). Below, we analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Missouri vs. Vanderbilt odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Tigers cracked into the Top 25 rankings by dropping Kansas State and Memphis in consecutive weeks, while also grabbing covers in those outings. Against non-FBS teams, Mizzou is 0-2 against the spread (ATS), but against Power 5 teams, it is 2-0 ATS. The Over is 3-1 for the Tigers, allowing 19 or more points in 3 games vs. FBS teams.

The Commodores have been anything but a brickhouse, dropping 3 straight games to Kentucky, UNLV and Wake Forest after opening with a pair of wins over Hawaii and Alabama A&M. What’s more, Vandy is 0-5 ATS, while allowing 28 or more points to all 4 FBS opponents. It’s no surprise the Over is 4-0-1 thus far.

Missouri is No. 22 in the US LBM Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Missouri (-500) will cost you 5 times your potential return, and that’s quite expensive for not nearly enough reward. It’s an especially high price in a divisional conference game, even if the host is a perennial league doormat.

AVOID, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

MISSOURI -13.5 (-105) is worth a look after notching covers in consecutive showdowns with K-State and Memphis. While it’s sometimes hard to believe Vanderbilt +13.5 (-115) qualifies, it is a Power 5 team, and the Tigers are 2-0 ATS against such teams so far this season. On the flip side, the ‘Dores are a dismal 0-5 ATS, and that doesn’t appear to be changing anytime soon.

Know that you’ll be going against some trends, as Vandy is actually 4-1 ATS in the previous 5 meetings, including a 17-14 near-miss in Columbia last season. However, Mizzou has won 6 of the past 7 meetings straight up, and 2 of those victories has been by 28 or more points, including a trip to Nashville in 2017.

Over/Under

OVER 54.5 (-110) is the best option on the board.

Both of these teams have been all gas and no brakes on offense, while playing very little defense.

Mizzou has racked up 30 or more points in 3 of its 4 games, while yielding 27 or more points in both games against Power 5 schools. The Over is 3-1 so far this season.

Vandy has coughed up 36 or more points in each of the past 3 games, while scoring 28 or more points in 4 of 5 outings, going 4-0-1 to the Over in 2023.

NIT: UAB at Vanderbilt odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s UAB at Vanderbilt NIT quarterfinal odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 4th-seeded UAB Blazers (27-9) and 2nd-seeded Vanderbilt Commodores (22-14) meet Wednesday in a NIT quarterfinal at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville. Tip is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN2/ESPN+). Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the UAB at Vanderbilt odds as we make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Blazers were bounced in the Conference USA Tournament final by Florida Atlantic, who is still alive in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. UAB has rolled in the NIT so far, topping former conference mate Southern Miss and Morehead State by 18 or more points, with an average margin of victory of 23.0 points per game (PPG).

UAB has done it with defense, allowing just 59.5 PPG, while scoring 82.5 PPG, covering both games while cashing the Under in 3 postseason games in a row.

Vanderbilt just missed out on a trip to the Big Dance, falling to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament semifinals. It has rebounded in the NIT with a pair of victories over Yale (71-62) and Michigan (66-65), splitting against the spread (ATS), while going 2-0 to the Under.

The Commodores have averaged 68.5 PPG in 2 NIT games, while allowing just 63.5 PPG.

UAB at Vanderbilt picks and predictions

Prediction

Vanderbilt 71, UAB 66

Moneyline

VANDERBILT (-115) is worth a look on the moneyline, mainly due to the home-court advantage.

UAB (-115) has been dominant in this tournament to date, but wins against USM and Morehead State are a lot different than facing a mid-tier SEC team.

Against the spread

UAB -1.5 (+105) has been strong in the NIT, but it is still just 5-16-2 ATS in the last 23 road games, while going 6-15-1 ATS in the last 22 games following a cover.

Vandy +1.5 (-125) is 10-3 ATS in the last 13 games overall, while cashing in 6 of the last 7 home games. The Commodores are also 7-2 ATS in the last 9 games against winning teams.

None need to pay more juice with such a small spread. Play the ML. PASS.

Over/Under

The UNDER 153.5 (-115) is the best play on the board.

Both of these teams have been about the Under in the NIT so far. UAB has allowed just 59.5 PPG, and Vandy has conceded just 63.5 PPG. Both teams play a tremendous brand of defense, and there is no way this turns into a track meet in the Music City.

The Over trends are strong for both sides, oddly enough, but the Under is 4-1 in the last 5 for the Blazers against teams with a winning percentage over .600, and 7-3 in the last 10 for the Commodores against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

SEC Tournament: Vanderbilt vs. Texas A&M odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Vanderbilt vs. Texas A&M odds and lines, with expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vanderbilt Commodores (20-13) square off with the No. 18 Texas A&M Aggies (24-8) Saturday in the SEC Tournament semifinals. Tip-off from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville is at 3 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Vanderbilt vs. Texas A&M odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and best bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Vanderbilt faces another tall task against the 2-seeded Aggies just one day after beating No. 24 Kentucky 80-73 as a 9-point underdog Friday. It is likely only a conference championship that will get the Commodores into the Big Dance, even with their win over Kentucky. Texas A&M is comfortably into March, but would still hate to be the next victim in the Vanderbilt cog.

The Aggies topped Arkansas 67-61 Friday and will look to again use a slow pace to draw Vanderbilt into a low-possession game, but Vandy will be okay with that and this should be a close game down to the wire.

Vanderbilt vs. Texas A&M picks and predictions

Prediction

Texas A&M 68, Vanderbilt 65

Moneyline

PASS.

Anything can happen — as we saw with Vanderbilt (+200) beating Kentucky Friday — but this does not mean the value is there with them again Saturday. It may be fine to make a little nibble on the underdog, but I would not go very heavy on it.

Texas A&M (-250) will probably emerge victorious in a close game but you can’t risk 2 1/2 times your potential return. It’s best to just avoid the moneyline here altogether.

Against the spread

LEAN VANDERBILT +5.5 (-105).

The sentiment might be that the Commodores used all their luck Friday against Kentucky, but there might just be a bit left for the Aggies.

Although technically a neutral site game, this game will be played in Vanderbilt’s home city of Nashville and the crowd should be pro-Commodores. This small advantage could help propel Vanderbilt to cover 5.5 points and that should be well within reach in what is likely to be a lower-scoring game.

Vanderbilt is 5-0 ATS in its last 5 games and with this number being 2 or 3 points too high, this game should make it 6-0 ATS.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 140.5 (-115)

Texas A&M has gone Under in 6 of its last 8 games overall and has also gone Under in 5 of its last 6 Saturday games.

With both teams attempting to slow the pace, the only way this game gets to the Over is by getting to overtime. As long as this game remains in regulation, the UNDER 140.5 (-110) is the correct side to wager on.
