Florida not rewarded for win over TAMU in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Florida’s win over Texas A&M wasn’t enough to get the Gators any votes in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. Should UF be getting more love?

Florida pulled off a convincing win over Texas A&M on Saturday, but the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll voters aren’t convinced that the Gators are worthy of a vote just yet. For the fourth-straight week, Florida failed to pick up a vote in the poll and remains on the outside looking in.

It won’t be easy for Florida to make up ground down the stretch with South Carolina and Vanderbilt on the schedule, but the Florida State game could hold some weight. FSU just blew out Miami and is receiving some minor support with 22 points in the poll update.

As far as the rest of the SEC goes, Georgia remains on top of the rankings after a convincing win over Tennessee that sent the Volunteers down three spots to No. 5. LSU moved into the top 10 following an impressive overtime win against Alabama, Ole Miss is at No. 9 and the Crimson Tide slipped to No. 11. Kentucky is the next highest-ranked team in the conference at No. 24, meaning all four of Florida’s losses have come to a ranked opponent.

Mississippi State (11) and South Carolina (3) also received votes but failed to make the top 25.

UCF comes in at No. 21 as the highest-ranked team in the Sunshine State.

Ohio State loses all first-place votes in latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll

The latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll is out and Ohio State remained in the same spot. There are a ton of changes elsewhere, however. Here’s how it all shakes out.

The latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll is out and YOUR Ohio State Buckeyes lost all of the first-place votes they had picked up, but they remained at No. 2, just behind Georgia, which made a statement at home against Tennessee. Michigan moves into the No. 3 spot and is closing the gap with OSU, picking up two first-place votes.

There were wholesale changes in the poll because three of the top six teams fell this weekend. Not only did the Vols lose to the Bulldogs, but Clemson was on the receiving end of a super wedgie administered by Notre Dame. Alabama lost another close one, this time to LSU in Baton Rouge.

There also was a shakeup at the bottom end of the top 25 because of teams losing last weekend. Bottom line: the USA TODAY Coaches Poll looks a lot different after Week 10 than it did heading into all the shenanigans over the weekend.

We’ll get into the top 10, but first here is the rest of the poll from No. 25 to No. 11.

Georgia near unanimous No. 1 in latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

After beating Tennessee, the Georgia Bulldogs picked up nearly every first-place vote in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll. From @john9williams

The Georgia Bulldogs took control of the SEC East and the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches poll with their 27-13 win over Tennessee. The Bulldogs showed that they’re still the team to beat and looked primed to repeat as national champion. Georgia received 61 out of 63 first-place votes in the updated rankings.

Ohio State held serve in the poll despite struggling with Northwestern, but they remain solidified as the No. 2 team in the nation.

Michigan was the only other team to receive votes after their dominating win over Rutgers. The Wolverines received two first-place votes, but sit at No. 3 in the Coaches Poll.

Tennessee’s loss dropped them out of the top four, and TCU’s 21-point fourth quarter catapulted them into position to contend for a College Football Playoff berth.

Clemson also fell from the ranks of the unbeaten with their disappointing loss at the hands of a resurgent Notre Dame. LSU continued their strong run with an overtime win over LSU. They now have control of the SEC West and if they hold serve, could face Georgia in the SEC title game. If they were to win out, could they make a case for the College Football Playoff? It would be surprising to see a two-loss SEC team, but Georgia may make that a moot point in a few weeks.

Oklahoma State fell out of the top 25 with their blowout loss to Kansas, and Kansas State tumbled after their loss to Texas.

Florida nowhere to be seen in USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll following loss to Georgia

Losing to Georgia isn’t going to get Florida back into the top 25. Here’s a look at the most recent USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Florida’s loss to Georgia on Saturday didn’t do the program any favors in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll update.

The Gators once again failed to receive a single vote in the weekly update following a three-score loss to the Bulldogs. This marks the third-straight week that Florida has failed to garner any support from coaches around the country, and there’s little reason to think Florida will re-enter the top 25 by the end of the season.

As far as the rest of the SEC goes, Georgia remains on top of the college football world at No. 1 in the rankings and 45 out of a possible 63 first-place votes. Tennessee remained at No. 3 after beating No. 24 Kentucky, and Alabama is still in the playoff hunt at No. 6. Ole Miss is hanging on to a top-10 spot, and LSU is at No. 17 to round out the list.

Arkansas, South Carolina and Mississippi State each had 10 points or less in the final voting tally.

Not a single member of Florida’s “big 3” (UF, FSU and Miami) picked up a vote this week, but UCF is now ranked at No. 25 on the list. Perhaps that Gasparilla Bowl win wasn’t so much of a fluke?

Illinois jumps up in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Several Big Ten teams jumped around in the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll while the Badgers were on bye:

The Wisconsin Badgers remained outside the latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll while on Bye Week, but several Big Ten teams moved around significantly.

The Illinois Fighting Illini dominated the Nebraska Cornhuskers rattling off their sixth-straight win under head coach Bret Bielema. They moved five spots in the latest poll to No. 13, jumping the Penn State Nittany Lions at No. 16.

The USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll top 10 this week includes Mississippi(10), Southern California(9), Oregon(8), Texas Christian(7), Alabama(6), Clemson(5), Michigan(4), Tennessee(3), Ohio State(2) and Georgia(1).

The Wisconsin Badgers will get back to action this weekend at home against the Maryland Terrapins as they try to get their first back-to-back wins this season.

Trio of Big 12 teams featured in latest USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Oklahoma remains on the outside looking, but three Big 12 teams are featured in the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

After last week saw Tennessee beat Alabama and become a legitimate national title contender in a game of the year candidate, this week’s USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll is fairly stable with the top six teams remaining the same.

Georgia remains No. 1, and the Ohio State Buckeyes hang in there at No. 2. Tennessee moves up to third ahead of the Michigan Wolverines, while Clemson is still No. 5 after escaping a defeat at the hands of the now 16th-ranked Syracuse Orange.

The rest of the top 10 is where the first few Big 12 teams show themselves as TCU moves to No. 7 after their win over Kansas State and Ole Miss’ loss to LSU. Oklahoma State jumps back into the top 10 to No. 9 after beating a formerly ranked Texas team at home Saturday afternoon.

That Texas team was ranked No. 21 but fell out of the top 25 altogether.  The Longhorns landed just outside the top 25 receiving the most votes of unranked teams.

Elsewhere, Kansas State, who gave Oklahoma its first loss of the season, dropped from 17th to 22nd after losing to the Horned Frogs.

In related news, former Oklahoma Sooners’ Shane Beamer, Spencer Rattler, and Austin Stogner moved into the top 25 after their win over Texas A&M.

Oklahoma returns to action next week against the Iowa State Cyclones when they make the trip to Ames to take on Matt Campbell’s team.
