UGA football player card: WR Ladd McConkey

Georgia Bulldogs WR Ladd McConkey will compete with freshman receivers like Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton, and speedster Arian Smith.

Ladd McConkey, Wide Receiver (#84):

Class: Freshman

Height: 6-0

Weight: 175 pounds

Hometown: Chatsworth, Georgia

High School: North Murray High School

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ladd McConkey arrived in Athens this offseason as a three-star recruit. At North Murray, McConkey was a versatile athlete, who recorded over 3,000 total yards as a senior.

McConkey runs a 4.5 second forty yard dash and additionally ran some track in high school. Here’s how the true freshman committed to the University of Georgia this past offseason:

McConkey will compete with receivers like Marcus Rosemy, Jermaine Burton, and speedster Arian Smith for the rest of his career. Kirby Smart focused heavily on receivers in the class of 2020. They’ll look to sure up UGA’s receiver issues that plagued them throughout last season.

He wore a lot of hats in high school and managed to excel at almost every position on the field.

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Cameron Moore walked on to the team during the 2018 season. He hasn’t seen any game action yet, but he’s been a member of the scout team.

Moore played baseball and football in high school for Cambridge. He switched to receiver after playing quarterback as a junior.

Georgia’s offense is replacing Lawrence Cager after he was undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft. George Pickens is the clear-cut No. 1 wide receiver in 2020, but beyond him Georgia will have competition at the position.

Georgia Bulldogs WR Jaylen Johnson went viral following a small act of kindness.

Jaylen Johnson, Wide Receiver (#81):

Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Height: 6-2

Weight: 192 pounds

Hometown: Duluth, Georgia

High School: Peachtree High School

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Jaylen Johnson came to Athens as an unheralded recruit. The six-foot-two target walked on to the football team as a freshman in 2018. Throughout the 2018 season he was a fixture on the scout team.

Last season Johnson played in three games against: Georgia Tech, Murray State, and Arkansas State. He’ll look to carve out a larger role with the team in 2020.

Georgia Bulldog receiver named 2020 SEC breakout player

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Demetris Robertson will be a breakout player in the SEC during the 2020 season.

A respected college football analyst, Dr. SEC, believes that Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Demetris Robertson will be a breakout player in the SEC during the 2020 season. Robertson breaking out would be huge for Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs.

Georgia’s number one wide receiver entering into the 2020 season is clearly George Pickens. If Pickens can find a partner in crime, like Robertson, then Georgia should have a deadly aerial attack.

Robertson may be projected to breakout, but he still has to earn some respect before folks know his name:

Robertson caught three touchdowns and hauled in 30 passes for 333 yards last season. Those numbers are far from the best of his career. Before coming to Athens, Robertson starred for the California Bears. As a former five-star recruit, Robertson has the talent.

Robertson suffered a severe leg injury during his sophomore season at Cal. He should be 100% again and will look to have a huge senior season. He’s also a threat in the run game. He’s the favorite to win the number two wide receiver spot next season.

UGA football player card: WR Patrick Bond

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Patrick Bond walked on to the team as a freshman in 2018

Patrick Bond, Wide Receiver (No. 37):

Class: Redshirt Sophomore

Height: 5-10

Weight: 180 pounds

Hometown: Milton, Georgia

High School: Milton High School

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Patrick Bond walked on to the team as a freshman in 2018. He took a redshirt that season. Last season Bond played in spring drills, but did not see the field in a game.

Bond played both baseball and football at Milton High School. He played in high school with former Georgia wide receiver Josh Moran, who is now transferring.

Both of Bond’s parents attended the University of Georgia.

Bond will have to battle with a lot of talented receivers in order to see playing time. He’s primarily played on the scout team. Bond was a Special Teams MVP in high school, so he’s got the potential to play some special teams for Georgia as well.

High School: Greater Atlanta Christian

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Ty James redshirted as a freshman last season. James came to the University of Georgia as a preferred walk-on.

Ty James chose to walk-on at wide receiver for UGA instead of attend colleges that offered him like: Dartmouth, Holy Cross, Penn, Cornell, Yale, Columbia, Fordham, and more.

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Reid Tulowitzky walked on to the Georgia football team in 2018 and took a redshirt

Reid Tulowitzky, Wide Receiver (No. 31):

Class: Junior

Height: 5-10

Weight: 175 pounds

Hometown: Augusta, Georgia

High School: Lakeside Augusta

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Reid Tulowitzky walked on to the Georgia football team in 2018 and took a redshirt. Tulowitzky played in the 2019 G-Day game, but has yet to see the field in a regular season game.

Tulowitzky made the Dean’s List in 2019, making him one of the more academically accomplished players on the team.

UGA football player card: WR Makiya Tongue

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Makiya Tongue redshirted last season. His dad is a former NFL veteran.

Class: Redshirt freshman

Height: 6-2

Weight: 210 pounds

Hometown: Baton Rouge, Louisiana

High School: University Lab

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Makiya Tongue redshirted last season. He played against Arkansas State, Georgia Tech, and Murray State, so he has some experience thanks to the new redshirt rule.

Tongue played both receiver and defense (safety/outside linebacker) in high school for University Lab. He made this spectacular catch back in the day:

Tongue’s dad, Reggie, played in the NFL for several seasons, playing primarily for the Kansas City Chiefs and Seattle Seahawks. Before the NFL, Reggie Tongue played for the Oregon State Beavers.

Next season, Makiya Tongue will fight for playing time at wide receiver. Georgia and Kirby Smart have brought in lots of talent at receiver and return a solid amount of existing talent including: George Pickens, 2020’s presumed top receiver on the roster.

Tongue came to the University of Georgia as a four-star recruit.

PFF spotlights Georgia football WRs George Pickens, Dominick Blaylock

Georgia football receivers George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock are due for a big 2020 college football season.

George Pickens and Dominick Blaylock signed with Georgia as five-star receivers in the class of 2019.

Georgia was able to flip Pickens from Auburn on signing day, while Blaylock was all-dawg from the start. Blaylock committed to Georgia in July of 2017 and then signed in December of 2018.

Georgia fans had high expectations for both of them, and both lived up to the hype.

Pickens was a superstar his freshman season, catching 49 passes for 727 yards and 8 touchdowns. He’s considered one of the top returning receivers in college football for the 2020 season.

Blaylock hauled in 18 catches for 310 yards and 5 touchdowns. He suffered a torn ACL against LSU in the SEC Championship Game.

UGA football player card: WR Demetris Robertson

Demetris Robertson came out of high school as a five-star recruit. He transferred to Georgia from California.

Demetris Robertson, Wide Receiver (#16):

Class: Senior

Height: 6-0

Weight: 190 pounds

Hometown: Savannah, Georgia

High School: Savannah Christian

Georgia Bulldogs wide receiver Demetris Robertson came out of high school as an elite five-star recruit according to most sources. He elected to attend California, where he was spectacular in 2016.

In fact, as a true freshman at Cal, Robertson broke DeSean Jackson’s freshman receiving yards record and Keenan Allen’s receptions record. Robertson caught 50 passes for 767 yards and scored seven touchdowns. These remain the best marks of his career.

During his sophomore season, Robertson suffered a season ending lower body injury. He played in two games before medically redshirting, then transferring to the University of Georgia. Robertson was immediately eligible at Georgia in 2018, where he played in nine games where he rushed for 109 yards on four carries.

Robertson saw more playing time last season, but didn’t match his production at Cal. He hauled in 30 passes for 333 yards and scored three TDs in 2019.

He’s a break-out candidate to watch in 2020, especially with Dominick Blaylock’s torn ACL. He’s expected to start at wide receiver opposite George Pickens. He’ll contribute to the run game as well.
