Report: Georgia to play at Texas in 2024

It looks like Georgia will have a much more difficult 2024 schedule

The Georgia Bulldogs are reportedly set to play at the Texas Longhorns in 2024. Texas, which will be making its debut in the SEC next season, could be starting quarterback Arch Manning by then.

The Longhorns and Bulldogs memorably faced off in the 2019 Sugar Bowl. On that day, Texas’ mascot, Bevo, made a lunge at Uga. Texas defeated Georgia, 28-21. Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger declared “we’re back” after defeating Georgia.

Since Ehlinger’s declaration, the Longhorns have not won more than eight games in a season. TCU is 3-1 against Texas since 2019. Georgia has won two national titles since.

Texas holds a 4-1 all-time series edge over Georgia. The Bulldogs traveled to Austin, Texas, in 1958. Texas has never played at Georgia.

Texas represents a new potential contender in the SEC. The Longhorns play in a state with a lot of talent. Texas’ additional TV money coming in from playing in the SEC could help the Longhorns take their program to another level.

Georgia is also expected to travel to Alabama during the 2024 SEC schedule.

Each SEC team will have its opponents announced for the 2024 season on June 14 in a special prime-time show on the SEC Network.

Five opponents we want to see on Georgia’s 2024 SEC schedule

Who should Georgia play in the SEC during the 2024 college football season?

The Georgia Bulldogs, like the rest of the SEC, will play an eight-game conference schedule during the 2024 college football season. Each SEC team is required to play another Power Five schools in a nonconference game.  Georgia’s 2024 SEC opponents are unknown for the time being.

The 2024 season will represent a big change for the SEC. Divisions will no longer exist. The top two teams at the end of the season will advance to the SEC championship game.

When will Georgia and the rest of the conference figure out their 2024 SEC opponents? The SEC Network will announce each school’s opponents on June 14.

One key thing to remember is that Georgia and Florida’s rivalry will likely be preserved, but the Georgia-Auburn rivalry may no longer be annual.

The single-standings format will allow every school to play every other school a minimum of two times in a four-year period, regardless of whether the SEC utilizes an 8-game or 9-game format for future conference competition.

Overall, Georgia will play a greater variety of in-conference opponents likely at the expense of historic rivalries. Here’s who we would like to see Georgia play in the SEC during the 2024 college football season:

Georgia 2023 football schedule with opponent FPI rankings

What is Georgia’s 2023 football schedule and how are the Bulldogs’ opponents ranked according to FPI?

The Georgia Bulldogs are looking to win a third consecutive national championship during the 2023 college football season. Georgia’s 2023 football schedule sets the Bulldogs up well for another College Football Playoff appearance.

Georgia’s toughest game is at Tennessee. Beyond that, it is hard to find a potential loss for the Bulldogs during the regular season. Georgia will be heavily favored in almost every regular-season game it plays in.

Georgia’s slow opening schedule will give the Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart time to decide if Brock Vandagriff or Carson Beck is the best fit to start at quarterback. Additionally, this will be the SEC’s final season before Oklahoma and Texas join the conference and alter the structure of the SEC schedule.
