Georgia’s 2024 SEC opponents announced: This is going to be fun

The Georgia Bulldogs face a tough 2024 SEC schedule that features trips to Alabama and Texas. Who else does UGA play?

The Georgia Bulldogs have a tough road ahead during the 2024 college football season. Fortunately, the Bulldogs will have more margin for error in 2024 because of the expanded College Football Playoff.

Still, Georgia’s 2024 schedule will be a tough challenge for Kirby Smart and the Dawgs. The Dawgs play four SEC road games and have just three SEC road games.

Additionally, Georgia’s 2024 nonconference opponents include Clemson, Georgia Tech, Tennessee Tech and UMass. The Bulldogs are going to have some really fun future schedules starting in 2024.

Georgia Football Schedule What To Know: Who do the Bulldogs miss from the SEC West?

Auburn Mississippi State

There’s no real complaining about who the defending national champions get from the West. There’s no sure-thing layup against anyone from the division, but playing Auburn at home and going to Mississippi State isn’t all that awful.

That means Georgia misses Alabama and Texas A&M – it’ll take that deal. Missing the Ole Miss offense along with LSU and Arkansas is just fine.

Georgia Football Schedule What To Know: The road games …

They’re about as easy as they can possibly get for an SEC team.

The two most dangerous games away from Athens aren’t even real road dates. The opener against Oregon might as well be a home game in Atlanta, and the Florida showdown is, as always, in Jacksonville.

South Carolina, Missouri, Mississippi State, Kentucky. Again, all things considered, that’s a light and breezy road run for a team with national championship dreams.

Georgia Football Schedule What To Know: What does it all really mean?

Don’t blame the regular season schedule if Georgia isn’t back in the College Football Playoff.

Again, no Alabama and no Texas A&M is the big break, and consider it an upset if the Dawgs aren’t favored in every game – assuming there’s not a meltdown of some sort.

As long as the team can maintain its focus against Mississippi State and Kentucky coming off what should be fun East battles with Florida and Tennessee, all should be just fine.

PFF gives Georgia’s odds at CFP appearance

No. 1 Georgia has the best shot at the CFP, per PFF

No. 1 Georgia has a clear cut path to the College Football Playoff this season.

It would be the second appearance by the Bulldogs and the first since the 2017 national title run if UGA makes it through the remaining five games unscathed.

If Georgia wins out, UGA will sit at No. 1 and face the No. 4 team in the final committee rankings. Georgia will likely make it it even with a loss in the SEC Championship.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) gives UGA the highest chance at a CFP appearance,

According to PFF, Georgia also has the 3rd easiest remaining schedule in the country with matchups versus Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Charleston Southern and Georgia Tech remaining.

UGA will take on UF this Saturday in Jacksonville at 3:30 p.m. ET.
