Watch: Kentucky appears to fake an injury during 4th quarter Georgia drive

UGA was set to attempt a 4th down when a Kentucky defender appeared to go down as a tactic to slow the Bulldogs down. Watch it here

Georgia currently leads Kentucky 14-3 late in the fourth quarter, after some mistakes by the Bulldogs allowed the Wildcats to hang around.

Georgia was set to attempt a 4th down and 5 from midfield when a Kentucky defender appeared to lay down as a tactic to slow the Bulldogs down.

This is one of the most blatant fake-injuries I’ve ever seen.

Watch it here:

There should be rules to keep things like this from happening. I’m all for protecting players and promoting defense, but acting like you are injured to get an offense off the field is laughable and bad for the sport.

Zamir White runs in 22-yard TD, Dawgs up 14-3

Georgia football RB Zamir White runs in a 22-yard TD on 4th and one, putting the Dawgs up 14-3 over Kentucky.

Zamir White capped off an excellent Georgia offensive drive with a 22-yard touchdown on fourth and one.

WATCH:

The drive was set up by a big 33-yard completion from Stetson Bennett to freshman tight end Darnell Washington.

Georgia looked great on their first drive of the second half and have seemed to get the kinks out offensively.  Georgia leads Kentucky 14-3 in the third quarter following the Zeus touchdown.

Halftime: UGA Twitter reacts to struggling Georgia offense

Georgia leads Kentucky 7-3 at the half. Here’s what UGA Twitter is saying about Georgia at halftime.

The Bulldogs lead Kentucky 7-3 at the half. Georgia opened the game great, rushing for 71 yards on the way to a rushing touchdown by quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Since then it’s been ugly. Kentucky has rushed for 82 yards on 39 carries and has held the ball for over 19 minutes on offense, highlighted by a 19-play scoring drive that took 10 minutes.

This Georgia offense has to get going for the Bulldogs to stay in the SEC East lead headed into the big matchup with Florida next week.

Here’s what UGA Twitter is saying about Georgia at halftime:

Stetson Bennett’s pass deflected, intercepted on 1st and goal

Georgia football QB Stetson Bennett’s pass gets deflected and intercepted on 1st and goal by Kentucky DL Phil Hoskins

What looked like a flawless drive, started off by a 46-yard completion to Georgia running back James Cook, turned into a turnover as Stetson Bennett throws an interception on first and goal.

The interception by Bennett wasn’t his fault as his pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage and popped into the hands of Kentucky defensive lineman Phil Hoskins.

Kentucky makes a big defensive play, stopping the Dawgs from scoring in the red zone with just 1:25 left in the half.

Georgia leads by a score of 7 -3 as the game heads to halftime.

Georgia vs. Kentucky – First quarter all Bulldogs

Georgia leads Kentucky 7-0 after a quarter after dominating the line of scrimmage. Details and analysis here.

Georgia leads Kentucky 7-0 after a quarter.

As expected, Georgia’s front is giving Kentucky problems. The Bulldogs rushed for 71 yards and didn’t even attempt a pass in its first drive, which was capped off by a rushing touchdown from quarterback Stetson Bennett.

On defense, Georgia has been able to keep Kentucky’s rushing attack that averages over 180 yards per game in check. In the first quarter, the Wildcats rushed for 37 yards on 11 carries, with 20 yards coming from new starting quarterback Joey Gatewood.

Georgia is perfectly happy running the ball every down and playing the field of position game behind punter Jake Camarda’s big leg.

Kentucky can’t matchup on the line of scrimmage, so there isn’t much of a point for Georgia to throw the ball, but it would be great to see Bennett get some experience with throws downfield.

Watch Georgia rush for 71 yards in first drive capped off by a Stetson Bennett touchdown

Watch Georgia dominate Kentucky early with 71 yards on the ground on the Dawgs first offensive possession.

Georgia is missing star receiver George Pickens and sophomore running back Kenny McIntosh, but it’s not changing anything as Georgia rushed for 71 yards behind a dominating opening drive by the offensive line.

If the Bulldogs can maintain control like this on the run game, it’s going to be a long day for Kentucky.

Here’s a great first down run from freshman tailback Kendall Milton that setup the Georgia touchdown by quarterback Stetson Bennett.

Georgia RB out against Kentucky

Per reports, Georgia football will be without a key running back against Kentucky.

In addition to wide receiver George Pickens, running back Kenny McIntosh will reportedly miss today’s Georgia game against Kentucky.

Per Kirby Smart, McIntosh, a sophomore, did not dress out after being limited during the bye week with a knee injury.

McIntosh has been one of the biggest surprises this season for the Bulldogs, and ranks third nationally in kick return average, with an average return of 36.33 yards.

UGA WR George Pickens ruled out versus Kentucky

The Georgia Bulldogs will be without talented wide receiver George Pickens today at Kentucky.

The Georgia Bulldogs will be without talented wide receiver George Pickens today at Kentucky. Pickens is Georgia’s No. 1 wide receiver and is a key piece in Georgia’s passing offense.

Pickens is injured and did not make the trip to Lexington, Kentucky. He’ll be missed, especially in the red zone. Kirby Smart and Georgia will look for players like Jermaine Burton, Demetris Robertson, and Kearis Jackson to step up in his place.

The Kentucky Wildcats have a good secondary, so this game could be closer than some of the experts think. Stetson Bennett and the Georgia Bulldog offense will have to look elsewhere for explosive plays in the passing game.

Pickens is out with an upper body injury. He’ll hope to play next week against the Florida Gators.

Matchup predictor: Georgia has a 85.9% chance to win, according to ESPN’s Football Power Index.

Series history: Currently the Bulldogs lead the overall series 59-12-2 over Kentucky. Georgia has won the last ten, with the Wildcats last victory coming in 2009.

Prediction: Georgia is not a good matchup from Kentucky’s standpoint. The Bulldogs are more than happy to chew the clock and run for 250 yards and usually that’s Kentucky’s game, but with quarterback Terry Wilson out due to injury, Auburn transfer Joey Gatewood will have to try and win with his arm, something Georgia’s elite secondary will look to take advantage of.

I’m taking Georgia 32-3, the Bulldogs dominate this one.
