Georgia football has nation’s top recruiting class after recent commit

The Georgia Bulldogs have the nation’s top recruiting class after gaining a commitment from 4-star Chase Linton

The Georgia Bulldogs became the SEC’s best-ranked recruiting class for the 2025 cycle after cornerback Dominick Kelly reclassified from the class of 2026 to 2025.

With four-star edge rusher Chase Linton committing to Georgia, the Bulldogs have passed Ohio State and earned the top recruiting class in the nation.

Georgia has done a great deal of work the past few weeks to earn the top spot ahead of the early signing period that begins Dec. 4. It appears their work is far from done. Kirby Smart and Co. have actively sought to flip recruits. Specifically, the Bulldogs have been looking to flip several of the nation’s top committed quarterbacks.

Georgia’s recruit class includes five five-stars, including Elijah Griffin, and 19 four-stars. It’s an incredible feat, especially since the SEC has seven of the nation’s top 10 recruiting classes.

Five-star DL Elijah Griffin commits to UGA

Georgia football adds a commitment from the top defensive line recruit in the country in Elijah Griffin.

Five-star defensive end recruit Elijah Griffin has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. Griffin’s commitment is a massive addition for Georgia football head coach Kirby Smart.

Griffin, who is a member of the class of 2025, is the No. 4 player in the country. Griffin is the top ranked recruit in Georgia and the No. 1 defensive end.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman has immense potential and is ready to wreck games at the college level. Griffin committed to Georgia over the USC Trojans and Miami Hurricanes.

The five-star defender is Georgia’s No. 23 commitment in the class of 2025. Griffin’s commitment raises Georgia to the third-best recruiting class in the country. The Dawgs previously had the nation’s No. 5 recruiting class.

Griffin plays high school football for Savannah Christian Prep in Savannah, Georgia. Griffin has elite high school production with 35.5 career sacks. The disruptive pass rusher is Georgia’s top ranked commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle, per 247Sports. Griffin was also nation’s the top remaining uncommitted recruit.

Griffin’s commitment to Georgia comes shortly after the Bulldogs lost a commitment from five-star quarterback Jared Curtis.

The Georgia Bulldogs have lost a commitment from four-star safety recruit Rashad Johnson. The four-star safety flipped his commitment from Georgia to Texas A&M.

Georgia has 21 commitments in the class of 2025 following Johnson’s decision. The Bulldogs have the third-ranked recruiting class in the SEC. Georgia still has a pair of safety commitments: four-star Jaylan Morgan and four-star Todd Robinson (who may also be a running back).

The Texas Longhorns have been surging in recruiting recently. Texas landed commitments from three five-star recruits over the past month or so. Most of the SEC has remained relatively stagnant on the recruiting trail since July.

The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to have the best recruiting class in the SEC in Year 1 of the Kalen DeBoer era. The SEC has eight of the top nine recruiting classes in the country. The SEC is easily the best recruiting conference in college football.

Georgia drops in SEC recruiting rankings after recent decommitment

UGA football dropped in the SEC recruiting rankings losing a commitment from a four-star defensive line recruit

The Georgia Bulldogs have lost a commitment from four-star defensive line recruit Christian Garrett. Garrett’s decommitment stings for the Bulldogs because he was Georgia’s top-ranked defensive line commitment.

Georgia has 22 commitments in the class of 2025. The Bulldogs have the third-ranked recruiting class in the SEC. A recent surge from Brian Kelly and LSU has helped the Tigers leapfrog Georgia in the recruiting rankings.

The Alabama Crimson Tide continue to have the No. 1 recruiting class in the SEC in Year 1 of the Kalen DeBoer era. There’s still a long way to go in the class of 2025, but DeBoer has been a menace on the recruiting trail to begin his career at Alabama.

The SEC has six of the top seven recruiting classes in the country. The SEC is the best recruiting conference in college football.

Four-star in-state defensive back recruit is visiting Georgia football as he nears his commitment date

Four-star defensive back recruit Jontae Gilbert has set his commitment date for Aug. 10. Gilbert is visiting the Georgia Bulldogs this weekend as he nears a decision. Gilbert is an elite recruit in the class of 2025. He plays high school football for Frederick Douglass High School in Atlanta, Georgia. Gilbert’s top five schools are Georgia, Georgia Tech, NC State, Louisville and UCF. Gilbert has most recently been predicted to commit to NC State, per 247Sports. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound defensive back is ranked as the No. 19 cornerback in the country, per 247Sports. Gilbert is the No. 139 recruit in the nation and the No. 19 prospect in Georgia. On tape, Gilbert shows versatility. He lines up both in the slot and on the outside. The four-star plays wide receiver in addition to cornerback and shows impressive body control when catching the ball. Gilbert is a capable blitzer that is a solid tackler. Gilbert is a good athlete and frequently lines up in press coverage. Georgia has the second-ranked recruiting class in the SEC and the third-best recruiting class in the nation in the 2025 cycle.

Five-star DT Justus Terry announces decommitment

Five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry is a big Georgia football recruiting target. He just decommitted for a second time

Five-star defensive line recruit Justus Terry has decommitted from the USC Trojans. Terry had been committed to USC since March. Terry is USC’s second decommitment over the past two days.

Terry, who joins five-star edge rusher Isaiah Gibson in decommitting from USC, is a key recruiting target for Georgia football. Terry was committed to head coach Kirby Smart and Georgia, but backed off his commitment to the Bulldogs in favor of the USC Trojans. Now, his recruitment is open again.

Terry recently noted his recruitment will come down to the early signing period.

“I won’t sign until December,” said Terry to Jeremy Johnson of On3. “So I won’t know it to the end.”

Terry took an official visit to the University of Georgia, which may have contributed to his decommitment.

Terry is a priority in-state recruit for Georgia. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound defender plays high school football for Manchester High School in Manchester, Georgia.

The elite defensive lineman is ranked as the No. 2 player at his position and the No. 2 player in Georgia, per 247Sports. Terry is ranked the seventh-best player in the country.

Georgia football always places a premium elite talent defensive line and is hoping to gain Terry’s commitment again. The Bulldogs are hot in recruiting and are showing not signs of slowing down.

UGA football offers Michigan DL commit

UGA football offers three-star Michigan commitment Manuel Beigel

The Georgia Bulldogs recently offered scholarships to a couple of defensive linemen in the class of 2024. Georgia and offensive line coach Stacy Searles offered a scholarship to three-star Michigan commitment Manuel Beigel.

Beigel plays high school football for Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford, Connecticut. Beigel is ranked as the No. 662 recruit in the class of 2024. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound defensive lineman is the No. 69 player at his position and the seventh-ranked recruit in Connecticut, per 247Sports.

It is intriguing that Georgia offensive line coach Stacy Searles offered Beigel. Perhaps the Bulldogs consider Beigel more of an offensive line recruit.

Beigel came to the United States from Germany. He committed to Michigan in the summer of 2022.

The Choate Rosemary Hall standout recently received a scholarship offer from Penn State.

UGA football no longer has nation’s top 2024 class

The Georgia Bulldogs have fallen behind Ohio State in 2024 recruiting class rankings

The Georgia Bulldogs no longer have the top-ranked class of 2024. Georgia dropped behind Ohio State in the 2024 recruiting rankings, per 247Sports, following the decommitment and flip of five-star tight end Landen Thomas.

However, Georgia still holds the No. 2 class. Kirby Smart and the Dawgs are off to a strong start in the 2024 cycle. The Bulldogs hold 11 commitments. Georgia has the highest average commitment ranking of any team with more than 10 commits in the 2024 recruiting class.

Georgia is well-positioned to secure an elite recruiting class. The Bulldogs are off to a strong start and the Peach State is stacked in the 2024 cycle. It has 18 of the nation’s top 100 recruits.

Five-star offensive tackle David Sanders plans to visit Georgia this weekend

The top-ranked recruit in the class of 2025 is visiting the Georgia Bulldogs the weekend of March 25. Five-star offensive tackle recruit David Sanders is the No. 1 recruit at his position and the No. 1 player in North Carolina.

Sanders plays high school football for Providence Day School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is one of multiple Providence Day Chargers to receive an offer from the University of Georgia.

Does Providence Day sound familiar to Georgia fans? Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs signed class of 2023 four-star defensive back Chris Peal from Providence Day this offseason. Additionally, the Dawgs signed running back Kyron Jones from Charlotte Christian, a rival of Providence Day, in the class of 2023 cycle.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pound offensive tackle is still filling into his frame. Sanders is planning to participate in the 2025 All-American Bowl. Georgia extended a scholarship offer to David Sanders, who additionally plays defensive end and tight end, in March 2022.
