The Buffalo Bills were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9 on Sunday Night Football.

The Bills (5-4) simply looked like the second-best team on the field against the Bengals (5-3) and that’s how the final score was reflected: A 24-18 defeat for Buffalo.

The game looked like it was going to be fireworks early, but both teams ended up getting stuck in the mud. Cincinnati were a little bit cleaner on the field and that made the difference in the end.

Of those factors, which of them stood out the most?

The Buffalo Bills defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 24-18, in their Week 8 matchup on Thursday Night Football.

The Bills (5-3) had a few players that stood out above the rest in this one. Particularly on defense, Buffalo had a balanced game plan. At the center of that was safety Jordan Poyer. He tied for the team lead with eight tackles and defended two passes as well, one of which was nearly an interception.

The Bills will hope such consistency will remain in their efforts throughout the rest of the 2023 season.

Report card: Bills top Buccaneers, 24-18

Report card: #Bills top #Buccaneers, 24-18:

The Buffalo Bills were riding high for, what felt like, nearly the entire game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8.

Still, with only seconds on the clock, the Bucs (3-4) had a look at the win.

Thankfully for the Bills (5-3), a last-second Hail Mary attempt from Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield fell short–and in a bizarre twist wasn’t even touched by any player–in Buffalo’s end zone.

The Bills held on for the win, but did that unexpectedly close game harm their grades?

Bills’ Sean McDermott explains benching Dorian Williams for Tyrel Dodson

#Bills’ Sean McDermott explains benching Dorian Williams for Tyrel Dodson vs. the #Patriots:

The Bills made an alteration to their defense against the Patriots and it stuck for the rest of the game.

In the 29-25 loss, the Bills (4-3) decided to turn one of their linebacker positions over to Tyrel Dodson. Rookie third-round pick Dorian Williams started there next to Terrel Bernard, but it wasn’t for long.

In the second quarter, Williams was removed from the game in favor of Dodson. The veteran saw out the rest of the contest against the Patriots (2-5).

Bills head coach Sean McDermott did not deny at all that Williams was benched.

“We were giving up a few plays there at that position,” McDermott said.

The coach went on to express he still has confidence in Williams.

McDermott’s full explanation on the substitution can be found in the Bills Live clip below:
