Ravens post-free agency 7-round mock draft

We look at a post-free agency seven-round mock draft for the Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens currently have 10 picks in the 2022 NFL draft, including nine in the first four rounds. They will have plenty of opportunities to add quality playmakers at multiple positions of need, as well as take some of the best players available on the board when they are on the clock.

During 2022 free agency, Baltimore has made a few splashes, including the signing of safety Marcus Williams. They’ve also brought in offensive tackle Morgan Moses and defensive lineman Michael Pierce to upgrade their roster in a few different areas, changing their draft priorities around in the process.

Below we look at a post-free agency seven-round mock draft for the Ravens.

NFL Scouting Combine: Former Vol records second fastest speed among running backs

A former Tennessee running back records the second fastest 40-yard dash speed among running backs at the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.

The 2022 NFL Scouting Combine is taking place March 1-7 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Former Vol Ty Chandler recorded the second fastest 40-yard speed among running backs.

Chandler was clocked at 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Running backs D’Vonte Price (FIU) and Kenny Walker III (Michigan State) also recorded a time of 4.38 seconds.

Isiah Pacheco (Rutgers) and Pierre Strong (South Dakota State) had the fastest times of 4.37 seconds.

Chandler played for Tennessee from 2017-20, appearing in 46 games for the Vols. He totaled 2,046 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns.

The 6-foot, 210-pound running back recorded 58 receptions for 465 yards and three touchdowns. He also had one kickoff return touchdown at Tennessee.

Chandler transferred to North Carolina for the 2021 season. He started 13 games for the Tar Heels, totaling 1,092 rushing yards, 13 rushing touchdowns, 15 receptions, 216 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown.

Ty Chandler steals the show as UNC upsets Wake Forest

North Carolina handed Wake Forest their first loss of the season, and Ty Chandler stole the show from two top quarterbacks

The quarterback duel of Sam Howell vs. Sam Hartman lived up to the hype, but it was North Carolina running back Ty Chandler who stole the show as the Tar Heels handed Wake Forest their first loss of the season.

Chandler racked up 213 yards and four touchdowns on just 22 carries, averaging nearly 10 yards per attempt. His final score was a 50-yarder that put the game out of reach in the final minutes of a 58-55 victory.

Howell threw for 216 yards and a touchdown through the air, and added another 104 yards and two scores on the ground.

Hartman continued his impressive 2021 campaign with another strong performance, throwing for 398 yards and five touchdowns, but with a pair of interceptions. He also made an impact on the ground, rushing for 78 yards and two more scores.

In a wide-open running back class, Chandler’s performance could have him moving up the board as one of the top senior runners in the 2022 NFL draft.

5 Stars: The Best and the Worst of Notre Dame’s win over North Carolina

Who played well? Who didn’t?

It was a four-quarter slugfest, with the Irish not making any mistakes, ending up on top of visiting North Carolina. When you score 44-points, the expectation is that you should win and that’s exactly what happened. This game was closer than you would have expected given the Tar Heel’s record, and that means there were a few things that didn’t go well for the Irish today. Find out who did well, 5-stars, and who didn’t, 1-star, during Saturday’s 44-34 victory against North Carolina.

Notre Dame vs. North Carolina: Third-Quarter Analysis

This game is far from over.

The third quarter featured a lot of what you would expect in a college football game. Through it all, Notre Dame and North Carolina both refused to go away quietly. The good thing about it is the Irish have a 31-27 lead heading into the final frame.

The Tar Heels needed only five plays to open the second-half scoring as Ty Chandler ran 53 yards to give his team its first lead. Not to be outdone, the Irish struck back with an even quicker drive of three plays. Kyren Williams ran for 14, yards, Jack Coan completed a 40-yard pass to Lorenzo Styles, then Coan ran (yes, ran) 21 yards for a touchdown to take the lead right back. It appeared defense was going to be optional this quarter.

The Irish forced a three-and-out on the next possession, but that only was determined after the officials overturned a first down on a review that took far too long for anyone’s liking. The important thing was the Irish got the ball back, and it was another successful drive. Along the way, they lost Williams to injury for the time being, and Coan found Styles again on a 25-yard completion. While it eventually took three plays for the Irish to punch it into the end zone on first-and-goal from the 2-yard line, the touchdown came on a beautiful jump from Logan Diggs.

When the defense returned to the field, J.D. Bertrand was called for roughing the passer, and it proved costly. Sam Howell subsequently completed a couple of passes for solid yardage before hitting Antoine Green for a 33-yard touchdown. It was a reminder that you cannot give this offense a shorter field. The Irish’s offense then went three and out, and Jay Bramblett punted the ball only 33 yards before it went out of bounds to set the Tar Heels up at their own 40.

Howell ran 11 yards for a first down in which he eluded one Irish tackler after another. It looks like he’s ready to prove a lot as this game reaches the fourth quarter. Kyle Hamilton’s is looming larger with each passing minute.

Tale of the Tape: Leading Rushers – Kyren Williams vs. Ty Chandler

Who has the advantage here?

[mm-video type=video id=01fk296ccw6tfca0yncc playlist_id=01eqbz1mmy7gev0xbr player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fk296ccw6tfca0yncc/01fk296ccw6tfca0yncc-0a7aae20ea508657439ead0044fbabc9.jpg]

Top running back is the closest battle Notre Dame and North Carolina have when it comes to offensive skills players. The Irish feed the ball to Kyren Williams a lot because he has been consistent on a unit when not many other players have. Yes, he has everything required to be a pure rusher at the college level, which is great. Even better is that he’s just as capable of catching passes, so the Tar Heels will have to revolve some of their game plan around him.

The Tar Heels have a more efficient runner in Ty Chandler. That said, he has only slight advantages in most categories as a running back. While he isn’t much of a receiver, the passes he does catch typically result in big gains. However, he only is averaging a reception a game, so the Irish’s defense will have to take its chances there so it can focus on areas that might be more of a threat.

Instant analysis: Tennessee-Missouri

Tennessee got to 2-0 with a home win over Missouri on Saturday.

KNOXVILLE – Tennessee is 2-0, after beating Missouri 35-12 on Saturday at Neyland Stadium to drop the Tigers to 0-2.

The Vols were clearly the better team from start to finish, with a distinct advantage in the trenches on offense. Cade Mays’ debut in a Tennessee uniform was apparent as the Vols were able to consistently get push up front, allowing Jarrett Guarantano to score twice on quarterback sneaks and convert two other fourth down situations.

The Vols’ offensive line play helped Tennessee’s running backs, as well.

Eric Gray carried the ball 16 times for 105 yards and a score to go with his 13-yard receiving touchdown. Senior Ty Chandler collected 90 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries. Gray is the first Vol since Alvin Kamara to score a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game.

Guarantano did not experience accuracy issues he saw in Columbia a week ago, completing 14-of-23 passes for 190 yards, one passing touchdown and no turnovers.

Wide receiver Josh Palmer had another good day as Tennessee’s No. 1 receiver, catching four passes for 71 yards. Freshman Jalin Hyatt showed off his speed, making his first big impact as a Tennessee player with 54 yards on two catches.

Missouri seemingly had to fight for every inch on offense, replacing Shawn Robinson with Connor Bazalek at quarterback early in the game. Bazalek found some success in the passing game with 218 yards, but threw one interception late to Theo Jackson. Larry Rountree carried the ball 18 times for 84 yards and a touchdown, but Tennessee seemed to have the upper hand throughout all four quarters.

The Vols were not able to generate a pass rush they did against South Carolina last week, but Deandre Johnson was able to get home for a sack, bringing him to 3.5 total on the season.

Tennessee now has the longest active win streak in the SEC, with eight straight wins and six straight conference victories.

Saturday’s performance was an encouraging one for Vols fans, as Tennessee showed it’s superiority against an SEC East opponent.

UT will turn around and travel to Georgia next Saturday, in a highly anticipated matchup against the Bulldogs.

Tennessee has not beaten Georgia since 2016, when Jauan Jennings caught a Hail Mary pass from Joshua Dobbs in the end zone to win in Athens during the final seconds.

Chandler met with media during fall training camp and discussed a variety of topics about his senior season.

On playing a 10-game SEC schedule in 2020
“When you say all SEC schools, everyone knows what that means. It’s a grind week in and week out and I feel like that’s what everyone is looking forward to. It’s a lot of competition and that’s what gets you better. We are looking forward to it. I’m up for the challenge, the team is up for the challenge, so we just feel good.”

On if Eric Gray has made him a better running back
“No doubt. Like they say, iron sharpens iron. I’m just grateful to be able to be in the room with him. He has a great skillset he brings to the game and he’s even taught me things. We talk about stuff all the time and we just feed off each other. I’m grateful to be able to go out there and compete with him. I feel like he gets me better, he gets the whole team better, I love it.”

On Tennessee’s running backs coach and former Vol Jay Graham
“He brings a positive energy to the table. Just a great attitude overall, he’s taught me a lot about angles, taking on defenders and being able to read blocks, stuff of that nature. He’s improved my game a ton and helped me take it to the next level. Overall, a great mentor a great guy to learn from and I’ve enjoyed the time being with him.”

On Tennessee’s offensive line in 2020
“I’m looking forward to working with those guys again. They’re a great group of guys. They come out every day and work hard. I’m grateful to be able to run behind them. They’re a bunch of big guys up front and I feel like we can build off and be even better than where we were last year. We are going to keep building and I’m looking forward to it. Those guys have been working their butts off and I’m excited to run behind them.”

On what he wanted to improve the most during the offseason
“Me personally, I just wanted to be able to finish runs and just seeing different things such as read keys and holes. Just going out and being able to execute, playing consistent. That’s something I really wanted to improve on my game and even catching balls out of the backfield, just being able to take that to the next level is something I wanted to improve on and making people miss and stuff like that.”

Fall training camp: Ty Chandler, Eric Gray ‘practicing with purpose’

Tennessee offensive coordinator Jim Chaney discussed the duo during the second week of fall training camp.

“I like them both,” Chaney said of Chandler and Gray. “They’re both very competitive kids. They both are determined to have good seasons. You can just see there’s an air of maturity about those two kids when they walk out on the field. They do their business. They’re real professional in how they look at it. They’re trying to get better at specific things as they go on the football field.”

The running back unit is coached by former Vol Jay Graham this season.

Chaney mentioned that Graham “has done a good job identifying things” that Chandler and Gray need to work on.

“They’re out there practicing with purpose,” Chaney said. “They’re to a point in their careers, you’re not coaching effort, you’re not coaching alignment, you’re coaching the nuances, the things that make a difference on a play with those two young men. They’re really driven to be successful.

“They’re fun to be around and they’re practicing very hard and Eric’s done a good job, as has Ty. Real pleased with those two.”
