Everything you need to know to watch Seahawks vs. Patriots

Everything you need to know to watch the Seattle Seahawks take on the New England Patriots Week 2 at CenturyLink Field.

The Seattle Seahawks (1-0) are just hours away from hosting the New England Patriots (1-0) in primetime at CenturyLink Field. While the Patriots’ quarterback might have changed, their head coach is the same and will prove to be just as challenging for Seattle.

“He’s fitting game plans to match the opponent and match with his own team in a matter of putting them in the position to win games,” coach Pete Carroll said Friday. “More so than anybody that we’ll face, he’s apt to focus on different aspects of their defense from one week to the next and stuff in in their offensive approach. He’ll tell you a lot about what he thinks about you by the game plan that will unfold. We won’t know ’til it’s over, but he’s got his way and they have a marvelous spectrum of stuff that they can coach that most teams don’t have.

“He’s got a great staff those guys have been together for such a long time that they can really utilize a lot of stuff that they’ve done over the years past.”

Seattle has won 16 of its last 17 home openers since 2003, with the one loss coming in 2008. Sunday will mark the first of the Seahawks’ four, prime-time games this year.

Saints-Raiders Monday night game to be simulcast on ESPN, ABC

The New Orleans Saints will visit the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football in a much-hyped Week 2 game simulcast on ESPN and ABC.

[jwplayer Of7ToV5c-ThvAeFxT]

The NFL and its broadcast partners are pulling out all the stops for Week 2’s headlining game. When the New Orleans Saints visit the Las Vegas Raiders at the brand-new Allegiant Stadium, their kickoff on “Monday Night Football” will be simulcast to a national audience on ESPN and ABC, with an alternate broadcast featuring guest stars on ESPN2, and Spanish-language coverage on ESPN Desportes.

While the main broadcast on ESPN and ABC will be led by a three-man booth of Steve Levy, Brian Griese, and Louis Riddick with Lisa Salters reporting from the sidelines, Raiders greats Tim Brown, Gene Upshaw, and Art Shell will join a cast of sports, music, and entertainment personalities on ESPN2 to discuss the game and the Raiders’ move to Las Vegas. Expect plenty of features showcasing Allegiant Stadium, the NFL’s newest venue, too.

Viewership ratings took a hit over last year’s Monday night opener, with a sleepy Steelers-Giants game followed by a Titans-Broncos nightcap failing to draw a crowd. The top storyline of the night was whether Titans kicker Stephen Gostkowski’s Hall of Fame candidacy was threatened by four missed field goals at Mile High Stadium; maybe Drew Brees and the Saints will catch more attention after setting a four-year high in TV ratings for FOX last week.

How much would you pay to watch a Notre Dame football game on TV?

Oklahoma fans will have to pay a crazy amount to see the Sooners opener on TV in a week. Would you pay the same to watch Notre Dame play?

Have you ever thought about how much you’d be willing to fork over in order to watch a Notre Dame game on a given Saturday?

I know last year some bought new cable plans in order to secure the ACC Network in time to see the Irish play at Duke so that would count as forking over some funds if you did, no doubt. However, if Notre Dame were to play a game on pay-per-view, how much would you pay to watch?

That’s exactly what is going on at Oklahoma this year as the Sooners game against Missouri State to start the season will be aired on pay-per-view.

How much will it cost to watch the Sooners take on traditional powerhouse Missouri State, you ask?

$54.99.

Mercy.

My question now for all of you is how much would you pay to watch a Notre Dame game in general, but especially one against a no-name foe?

There was plenty of anger by some when it was announced that Notre Dame’s game against South Florida was going to be shown on USA instead of NBC, due to the airing of golf’s US Open.

If that game, probably the least interesting of any on Notre Dame’s 2020 schedule, were to be played on pay-per-view, what would you pay to make sure to be able to watch it?

For work purposes I’d be forking it over but if we were talking strictly from a fans perspective, I’d be looking to host a gathering of some kind if I’m forking over 55 bucks to watch a football game.

If it’s a huge game I’m not going to let myself miss it. but let’s be honest – I have trouble thinking I’d be forking over that kind of money to watch the South Florida game live on TV when in a normal year the secondary market on a ticket to that game would probably be about the same, if not less.

Deals like this make me real thankful that Notre Dame has the NBC deal, even if has meant years of hearing the likes of Pat Haden and Doug Flutie.

People are so confused by all the HBO app changes

If you’re trying to figure out the differences between HBO Max, HBO Now and HBO Go, we’re here to help.

HBO Max, the newest major streaming service offering premium content and fan-favorite shows and movies, launched late last month, becoming the third active HBO app people are using to watch content. Trying to figure out the difference between HBO Go and HBO Now was difficult enough before Max entered the fray.

To try and keep things a bit more streamlined, WarnerMedia is reportedly rebranding its HBO apps, according to Variety – but a tweet explaining the move left many people on social media scratching their heads.

If you have no idea what any of this means, you aren’t alone!

Let’s try and figure this out. First, a look back at what these apps were before the changes:

HBO Go was an app used by people who had a cable subscription to HBO, which allowed them to access HBO content in web browsers and on smart devices.

HBO Now was an app that offered a subscription to HBO for people who did not have or want a cable subscription. For cord-cutters, this was the go-to.

HBO Max is a new, premium subscription service that combines HBO content with other, non-HBO produced content. It’s basically the HBO version of Netflix.

So what is changing?

HBO Go is disappearing. Most people who have cable subscriptions to HBO will be able to access HBO Max through their cable provider.

HBO Now is turning into a new app that will simply be called HBO.

So, in the future, if you just want HBO content, you’ll use the HBO app. If you want HBO content plus all the extra stuff (like “Friends”), you’ll need an HBO Max subscription.
