2025 NFL Draft Scouting Report: RB Trevor Etienne, Georgia

Etienne worth tracking as a rookie

Yes, this is Travis Etienne’s younger brother. This is not the twin of Travis who totaled 6,701 yards and 78 touchdowns in his four seasons at Clemson. Trevor only managed 2,513 yards and 24 touchdowns in his three years at two colleges.

After a successful high school career, Trevor committed to play for Florida over LSU or his brother’s Clemson. As a freshman, he shared the backfield with Montrell Johnson while quarterback Anthony Richardson also rushed the ball. While Richardson left for the NFL in 2023, Etienne still shared the backfield with Johnson.

As a junior, Etienne entered the transfer portal and went to Georgia. He again provided about half of the backfield carries while sharing with Nate Frazier. There’s plenty of tread on the tires, having never run more than 131 times in any of his three seasons. He declared for the NFL draft rather than return to the Bulldogs for his senior season.

Height: 5-9
Weight: 198 pounds
40 time: 4.42 seconds

Etienne was one of the lightest running backs in the 2025 NFL Combine but ran a respectable 4.42 40-time. He may lack the power and speed of his brother, but Etienne still rates as a valuable addition to an NFL roster.

Trevor Etienne stats (2022-24)

Season Team G Rush Yds Average TD Catch Yds Y/R TD
2022 Florida 13 118 719 6.1 6 9 66 7.3 0
2023 Florida 11 131 753 5.7 8 21 172 8.2 1
2024 Georgia 10 122 609 5 9 32 194 6.1 0
Career 34 371 2081 5.6 23 62 432 7 1

Pros

  • Versatile back that runs and catches
  • Effective in space setting up defenders to miss
  • Elusive rusher with good vision
  • Sharp cuts and instant acceleration
  • Capable receiver with strong hands
  • Strong blocker in pass protection
  • Will only be 21 years old as a rookie

Cons

  • Lacks size and strength for much inside rushing through traffic
  • Only average burst and speed good but not elite
  • Always part of committee backfield at both colleges
  • Effective on screens and wheel routes, but still needs more development as a receiver

Fantasy Outlook

Trevor Etienne has shown an ability to shed tackles and elude defenders, but his size and speed won’t likely play as well at the pro level. After three seasons in college, he never had more than 152 touches and still needs to develop. But he was consistently productive with what he was given in college and he plays bigger than his size, even as a rusher finishing runs.

He is expected to be an early Day 3 pick and projects more as a third-down type in the NFL. But like any player in his situation, he could develop into much more in the NFL, given the right landing spot and the opportunity to grow into a larger role. His fantasy value will depend greatly on the offense around him and how they use him.

Even if he lands in a less-than-ideal situation, he’ll be worth tracking and sticking on the back end of a fantasy roster to see if anything happens.

Georgia junior RB Trevor Etienne accepts Senior Bowl invitation

Georgia junior running back Trevor Etienne, a Florida transfer, accepts a Senior Bowl invitation after making NFL draft decision

Georgia Bulldogs junior running back Trevor Etienne surprised quite a few folks, including his teammate Nate Frazier, when he decided to declare for the 2025 NFL draft.

Etienne has accepted an invitation to the 2025 Senior Bowl. The Senior Bowl now allows underclassmen to compete in the predraft event. NFL draft scouts and executives will attend the Senior Bowl, which is the NFL’s most prestigious predraft scrimmage. Etienne is one of seven Georgia Bulldogs to accept an invitation to the Senior Bowl, which is the second-most of any college program behind the Oregon Ducks (eight).

Etienne transferred to Georgia after spending two seasons with the Florida Gators. He played a big role in Georgia’s SEC championship victory over Texas and memorably scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime.

Etienne totaled 609 rushing yards on 122 carries and scored a team-high nine rushing touchdowns in 2024. Etienne was also quite effective as a pass catcher and is the type of versatile playmaker that NFL teams love.

The talented running back missed some time in 2024 due to a ribs injury and a suspension in Week 1 against Clemson. Etienne earned third-team All-SEC honors in his lone season with UGA.

Georgia RB Nate Frazier reacts to Trevor Etienne’s NFL decision

Georgia football running back Nate Frazier caught off guard following Trevor Etienne’s decision to enter the 2025 NFL draft

Georgia Bulldogs running back Nate Frazier appears to be surprised his teammate Trevor Etienne is entering the 2025 NFL draft.

“No bro, how could you do this to me,” said Frazier in response to Etienne’s Instagram post. “You told me one more year man,” Frazier continued. “Go be great brudda (brother) love.”

Frazier wasn’t the only one caught off guard by Etienne’s decision. The initial indication, per reports in the media, was Etienne would return for his senior season. However, he declared for the draft right before the decision deadline.

Now, Frazier is in position to be Georgia’s lead back in 2025. Frazier and Cash Jones are returning for another season at UGA. The Bulldogs will lean heavily on Frazier, who led Georgia as a true freshman with 671 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

Etienne’s departure is a big loss for Georgia. Etienne ran for 609 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in his season at Georgia.

Georgia struggled to run the ball effectively in 2024. The Bulldogs finished second-to-last in the SEC rushing yards (124.4 yards per game). Things may not get better in 2025: UGA is losing four starting offensive linemen to the 2025 NFL draft.

Georgia RB Trevor Etienne makes surprising NFL draft decision

Georgia Bulldogs standout RB Trevor Etienne makes surprising NFL draft decision that contradicts initial reports

The Georgia Bulldogs’ 2025 offense will have a different look without star running back Trevor Etienne. After a single season with the Bulldogs, the junior running back has declared for the 2025 NFL draft. Initial reports indicated that Etienne would return to school, but in a change of heart he’s headed to the NFL.

Etienne joined Georgia as a transfer after spending the first two seasons of his college football career with Florida. Etienne led the team in rushing yards per game (60.9), totaling 609 yards on 122 carries and scoring a team-high nine rushing touchdowns. The Florida transfer missed significant time in November due to injury and being suspended for the Dawgs’ Week 1 game against Clemson.

Trevor Etienne saved his best performances for the Texas Longhorns. In two matchups, the Jennings, Louisiana, native totaled five touchdowns and over 200 all-purpose yards. This included a 110-yard, three-touchdown performance in the initial meeting against Texas. Etienne also had a dominant SEC championship game where he rushed for a season-high 94 yards, recorded 28 receiving yards, and scored both of his team’s touchdowns, including the game-winner.

Etienne’s 2024 campaign earned him a spot on the All-SEC third team.

With Etienne’s departure, expect freshman running back Nate Frazier to take over the majority of the carries in his sophomore campaign along with Cash Jones returning for his senior season.

It is hard to blame Etienne for leaving. Georgia’s offensive line lost four starters after struggling in 2024.

Georgia RB Trevor Etienne makes decision for 2025

Georgia football running back Trevor Etienne is back for the 2025 college football season

This post has been updated with new information.

Georgia junior running back Trevor Etienne is reportedly staying with the Bulldogs for 2025 instead of declaring for the NFL draft. He met with coach Kirby Smart to inform him of his decision.

Update: Etienne will not be returning for the 2025 season despite initial reports

The 2025 college football season will be his last year of eligibility.

Etienne signed with the Florida Gators as a class of 2022 four-star recruit. With Florida, he split carries with Montrell Johnson Jr, totaling 1,472 yards and 14 touchdowns in two seasons.

In the 2024 offseason, he transferred to the Georgia Bulldogs. Etienne was set to be the lead back in Georgia, but he and the run game disappointed.

He ran for 605 yards and nine touchdowns on 122 carries, but he was suspended against Clemson and he suffered a rib injury that forced him out for the last three regular-season games.

Etienne will get another shot as the lead back with Georgia. Etienne and Nate Frazier form a dynamic duo, but there are questions surrounding the UGA offensive line after four starters entered the 2025 NFL draft. Georgia’s current running back room (Etienne, Frazier and Cash Jones) is expected to return and three-star signee Bo Walker will join the backfield.

Notre Dame vs. Georgia College Football Playoff highlight: Adon Shuler forces fumble

Notre Dame forces a key turnover early against Georgia

With the Georgia Bulldogs driving against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on its second possession of the Allstate Sugar Bowl, Irish safety [autotag]Adon Shuler[/autotag] stepped up and forced a fumble from Bulldogs running back [autotag]Trevor Etienne[/autotag].

Etienne’s miscue ended up in the hands of Notre Dame linebacker [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag], the first fumble that he has had all season.

This stopped what appeared to be an effective drive from Georgia’s offense, and it might help jumpstart an Irish squad that went three-and-out on its first possession.

Notre Dame vs. Georgia: First-Quarter Analysis

Nothing on the scoreboard so far.

(This story has been updated to add a photo.)

Did Notre Dame having to wait an extra day to play Georgia in the Sugar Bowl end up hurting? Objectively, it’s too soon to make that call. Still, Irish fans have to feel extremely fortunate that their team is in a scoreless tie with the Bulldogs after the first quarter.

The Irish barely have had the ball themselves, and the defense has featured a combination of bad penalties and allowing third-down conversions for Gunner Stockton, who barely has played this season compared to the injured Carson Beck. Were it not for [autotag]Adon Shuler[/autotag] forcing a Trevor Etienne fumble that [autotag]Jaiden Ausberry[/autotag] recovered, we might be talking about a different score.

Is it possible the injuries sustained to the Irish’s defensive line throughout the season finally have caught up with them? The Bulldogs came into this game with a much healthier offensive line that also happened to have a weight advantage on the Irish. That will be a concern all game.

Three Georgia players to watch in the Sugar Bowl

Three key Georgia players to watch out for against Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl

The No. 2 seed Georgia Bulldogs are playing the No. 7 seed Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl.

The Sugar Bowl will played in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Jan. 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET as part of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals).

Here are the three Georgia players to watch for against Notre Dame.

Quarterback Gunner Stockton

All eyes will be on Gunner Stockton in the Sugar Bowl. In the SEC championship, Stockton had a lot of good moments and showed his competitiveness. Stockton is not scared of the moment and seizes every opportunity in front of him. With the Georgia offense now being catered towards him, there will be an even more confident Gunner and a team that is ready to step up for him.

Defensive Lineman Warren Brinson

Warren Brinson played the game of his life in the SEC championship accounting for a sack and two and half tackles for loss. Brinson will be a huge  part into shutting down the Notre Dame’s dynamic 10th rated rushing offense and running back Jeremiyah Love. If Brinson plays like how he did in the Texas game, then he will be moving up NFL draft boards and help the Bulldogs to advance to the next round in the playoff.

Running Back Trevor Etienne

Trevor Etienne will be relied upon to shoulder some burden away from Gunner and to make some plays happen early in this game. Etienne had a rib injury that stooped him from being 100% but now with the three weeks off he is the closest to 100% since the Texas matchup in Austin. Etienne is one of the most talented players on this offense so expect him to have the ball in his hands.

Georgia players with the most to gain from postseason practice

Three Georgia Bulldogs players who will benefit from three weeks of postseason practice

Georgia football coach Kirby Smart’s approach to this extended period of time off was very clear after the SEC championship win.

“You know, we commit 75, 80% to ourselves and growth and development and trying to get our team ready and backups ready,” Smart on what Georgia will be doing until the Sugar Bowl.

With school over and all attention on football, postseason practices function like a mini fall camp for Georgia players. It provides a chance to spend extensive time with teammates and coaches while focusing solely on development. This period presents a key opportunity for players across Georgia’s roster to grow and improve.

What three Georgia Bulldogs have the most to gain from bowl practices?

Running Back Trevor Etienne

Trevor Etienne has been dealing with injuries all season, but when he is 100% or close to it, then he is the focal point of the UGA offense. In the SEC championship game, Etienne’s status was uncertain due to a rib injury, but he decided to give it a go. He gained 122 total yards and two touchdowns to help secure the SEC title over Texas.

Now with three weeks of rest, we can finally see Etienne return to the most healthy version of himself. Etienne’s workload will be even larger with Gunner Stockton at quarterback. Etienne is playing for a lot this postseason with a chance to win a national championship and boost his NFL draft status.

Defensive Back Daniel Harris

Dale Zanine-Imagn Images
Georgia’s second cornerback position opposite Daylen Everette has been a revolving door this season. Julian Humphrey appeared to secure the role midway through the season. However, Harris regained momentum following a standout stretch of practices, particularly during the bye week, as noted by Smart.

Harris officially took over the spot after starting against UMass, a move that came after Humphrey was pulled during the opening drive against Tennessee due to a costly pass interference penalty. Humphrey did not see the field against Georgia Tech and has committed to transferring. The upcoming preparation for the College Football Playoff will provide Daniel Harris valuable time to further develop and solidify his understanding of the role.

Quarterback Gunner Stockton

Online Athens

We saw a glimpse of what the Georgia offense is capable of with Stockton at quarterback in the SEC championship game. The redshirt sophomore, who guided Georgia on its first touchdown drive of the game, and finished 12-for-16 for 71 yards and one interception. UGA will use Stockton’s mobility as much as it can.

Three weeks will help prepare Stockton for his first career Georgia start. Georgia will have to play complementary football and can’t rely on miracle comebacks like it did at times under Carson Beck.
