Texas OL transfer Andrej Karic commits to Tennessee

Former Texas offensive lineman Andrej Karic is heading to the SEC.

Former Texas offensive lineman Andrej Karic is heading to the SEC. Karic is taking his talents to play for Josh Heupel and the Tennessee Volunteers.

Karic entered the transfer portal after three seasons with the Longhorns. He appeared in 26 games and logged five starts at Texas, leaving with two more years of eligibility.

Steve Sarkisian used Karic in a jumbo tight-end role this season, serving as the team’s sixth man at the tackle spot. He also has experience playing on both sides of the line at left and right tackle.

The former four-star is ranked the No. 22 offensive tackle prospect currently in the transfer portal according to On3’s transfer rankings.

The Longhorns are young but talented on the offensive line. Superstar freshman Kelvin Banks returns holding down the left tackle position. Cameron Williams and Neto Umeozulu are candidates to start next season.

Former Longhorn OL Tyler Johnson transfers to Houston

Tyler Johnson will have a fresh start with the Houston Cougars.

Just two weeks after entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal, former Texas offensive lineman Tyler Johnson announced via Twitter his commitment to Dana Holgerson’s Houston Cougars.

The four-star from the class of 2019 struggled to see the field during his three seasons in the burnt orange. Johnson redshirted in freshman season but was never able to crack the starting lineup in the last two seasons. The only appearance of his Texas career came against Colorado in the 2020 Alamo Bowl.

Johnson will look for a fresh start and more playing opportunities in his hometown of Houston, Texas.

More competition for playing time is on the way as Texas signed one of the top offensive line classes in program history for the 2022 cycle. Five-stars Kelvin Banks Jr and Devon Campbell headlined Kyle Flood’s impressive haul.
