Five summer additions ready to make an impact for Texas football in 2022

These guys have the chance to make an early impact this fall.

Texas did a masterful job this offseason making upgrades to the roster. Steve Sarkisian and his coaching staff have utilized both the transfer portal and the high school ranks to add some key pieces to the program.

We got a taste of what some of the early enrollees could do in the spring game as the transfer group of Quinn Ewers, Isaiah Neyor, Jahleel Billingsley and Ryan Watts all flashed playmaking ability. Freshman defensive lineman Justice Finkley and running back Jaydon Blue earned plenty of praise from Sark throughout spring ball as well.

The remaining group of the newcomers have arrived and are eager for the start of summer workouts. Transfer pickups Agiye Hall, Tarique Milton and Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey join the No. 5 ranked recruiting class in the 2022 cycle. The final group of fresh faces could be what Texas is missing to compete for a Big 12 title this season.

The Longhorns have an exciting group of newcomers ready to help Texas turn the program around. Steve Sarkisian and his staff landed some of the top names in the NCAA transfer portal and the No. 5 ranked 2022 recruiting class. Some of the players have already begun the move-in process and are ready to get to work.

Jersey numbers are starting to be revealed for the incoming group of players. Wide receiver Brenen Thompson and outside linebacker Derrick Brown took to Twitter to hint at what number they will rock this season. James Madison linebacker transfer Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey will keep his No. 2 from the Dukes.

Five-star offensive line duo Devon Campbell and Kelvin Banks are taking their high school numbers to the collegiate level.

Defensive starters DeMarvion Overshown, D’Shawn Jamison and Keondre Coburn decided to come back for one last season in Austin.

The Longhorns captured some strong recruiting momentum down the stretch to finish with the No. 5 class in the nation. The class addresses Texas’ need in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The offensive line haul was especially impressive, with two five-stars Devon Campbell and Kelvin Banks.

Former five-star quarterback Quinn Ewers and multiple other talented players join the roster via the transfer portal.

The influx of talent has brought some much-needed optimism to the program. The fresh faces on the roster will be tasked to help the Horns bounce back from last year’s 5-7 campaign.
