Tennessee fan sees bigger picture, organizes aid for young Ohio State fan

Faith in humanity restored #GoBucks

Social media can be the absolute dregs of society. A place where people hide behind keyboards to be the worst of the worst. But every so often, someone finds a way to use the platform for something good and positive. And that’s exactly what one Tennessee fan and X (formerly Twitter) user chose to do.

In the world of college football and the mostly unregulated world of social media, it doesn’t take long for the insults to start flying, especially when two passionate fanbases come together. When the stakes are high, the jabs come even harder. Do a quick social media search with the hashtags #GoBucks and #GBO to see what I mean.

But one man has put all that aside for the moment to do something that goes beyond the field of play and banter of fans. A self-proclaimed “Vol Football fanatic” caught wind of a young Buckeye fan’s illness and has decided to do something about it.

After reading on X from user Brutus Stark about his son’s recent diagnosis of MPS III, which is a degenerative disease that causes Alzheimer-like symptoms in children, X user Bo Camaro jumped to action. He immediately elicited the help of Beyond the Snap, an organization created for moments just like these. The group jumped at the chance to help a kid and his family, putting football aside despite each team’s championship aspirations.

While it looks like there is no FDA-approved treatment for MPS III, the family is committed to doing whatever it can to help their child, as any parent would. And Bo Camaro is using the power of social media to lend a hand. To date, $7,300 has been raised for the family to use as they see fit and even possibly take their child to see the Ohio State Tennessee playoff game in person.

Too many times, social media is a depressing place to spend much time. The constant negativity can be overwhelming. But in this instance, someone has found a way to use the platform to make a positive impact and restore faith in humanity.

Well done Bo Camaro, on seeing a bigger picture, putting football fandom aside, and using your influence to make a difference in the world,

How many of Oklahoma’s opponents are ranked in US LBM Coaches Poll after Week 14?

The Oklahoma Sooners played a number of really good teams in 2024, but how many are ranked in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll?

For nearly a year, we pretty well knew the Oklahoma Sooners had a tough schedule. What the Sooners went through isn’t really a surprise. The Sooners caught lightning in a bottle in their win over Alabama, but they couldn’t replicate it a week later against LSU.

OU finished the season 6-6 and 2-6 in the SEC, not coming close to meeting the expectations that come with being the University of Oklahoma. But as the saying goes, you are what your record says you are. The Sooners are a .500 team buoyed by a nonconference slate that featured three teams that weren’t ranked in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll after Tulane was upset by Memphis in Week 14.

The Sooners played six teams that finished the regular season ranked in the US LBM Coaches Poll. Here’s how they fared against those teams.

  • No. 2 Texas, L, 34-3
  • No. 6 Tennessee, L, 25-15
  • No. 11 Alabama, W, 24-3
  • No. 12 South Carolina, L, 35-9
  • No. 15 Ole Miss, L, 26-14
  • No. 20 Missouri, L, 30-23

In those six games, Oklahoma was outscored by an average of 10.8 points per game. In the losses, however, Oklahoma was outscored by an average of 17.2 points per game.

How you fare against ranked opponents matters and the Sooners simply weren’t talented enough this season with all of the injuries they suffered on the offensive side of the ball.

It’s going to be a long offseason before the Sooners can wipe the slate clean from what turned out to be a terrible 2024 season. As we await Oklahoma’s bowl destination, here’s a look at the latest US LBM Coaches Poll from USA TODAY Sports.

‘College GameDay’ predicts winner of Georgia vs. Tennessee

The College GameDay crew likes Georgia’s chances against Tennessee. Is that a bad omen for the Bulldogs?

ESPN’s “College GameDay” is in Athens, Georgia, for the Georgia Bulldogs versus Tennessee Volunteers game. Georgia is hosting Tennessee in Week 12 in a battle of two College Football Playoff hopefuls.

Who did the GameDay crew predict to win the Georgia-Tennessee game?

“Uga, I think you’re beautiful,” said Lee Corso, who put on Georgia head gear and picked Georgia to win. “Give me them Dawgs!”

Former NFL punter and college football expert Pat McAfee called the Dawgs and picked Georgia to win. “The Georgia Bulldogs win a must-win and put themselves back in the College Football Playoff!” said McAfee.

Former Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban predicts that Georgia will beat Tennessee. Former Michigan Wolverines legend Desmond Howard also predicts that Georgia will win against Tennessee.

GameDay guest picker Cody Rhoades, who is a WWE champion wrestler, picked Georgia to win. All five members of the GameDay crew predicted Georgia to beat Tennessee.

Kirk Herbstreit did not make a prediction because he is commentating the Georgia-Tennessee game.

The Georgia-Tennessee game is at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 16 and will be televised on ABC.

Is Nico Iamaleava playing vs. Georgia? The latest on Tennessee QB’s injury

Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Nico Iamaleava is dealing with a concussion. Here are the latest updates ahead of the UGA game

Tennessee Volunteers starting quarterback Nico Iamaleava is questionable to play against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday. Iamaleava is a critical piece of Tennessee’s offense.

Iamaleava suffered a concussion and was unable to play in the second half of Tennessee’s 33-14 win over Mississippi State last week. Iamaleava has been in concussion protocol since the Mississippi State game, but he has continued to progress throughout the week. Iamaleava is traveling with Tennessee.

247Sports’ Matt Zenitz reports that that Iamaleava is likely to play against Georgia, but not guaranteed to play. ESPN’s Chris Low reports that Iamaleava will be playing against Georgia.

If Iamaleava can play, then that would be a big boost for the Tennessee offense. Iamaleava has completed 65.2% of his passes for 1,879 yards, 11 touchdowns and four interceptions this season. He also has 64 rushes for 215 yards and one touchdown.

Regardless of Iamaleava’s status, a key thing to watch will be if Tennessee quarterbacks can hit deep plays against the Georgia secondary. The Volunteers had numerous receivers open deep a few weeks against Alabama, but Iamaleava missed them more often than not.

Tennessee’s other quarterback option

Tennessee senior quarterback Gaston Moore is expected to start if Nico Iamaleava is unable to play. Moore has played at Tennessee since 2021, so he has plenty of experience in the Volunteers’ system. However, he has just 42 career passing attempts.

Moore has completed 16 of 25 passes for 201 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions this season. He completed just five of eight passes for 38 yards against Mississippi State.

Joel Klatt predicts winner of Georgia vs. Tennessee

Fox college football analyst Joel Klatt predicts who will win the Georgia vs. Tennessee football game

Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt thinks the Georgia Bulldogs’ season is on the line against Tennessee.

“Georgia’s playing for their life for all intents and purposes. Georgia probably cannot get in with another loss, and by probably, I mean, like almost 100% cannot get in with another loss. There would have to be a ton of chaos for a nine and three team to make this playoff,” said Klatt.

No. 10 Georgia’s home game versus the No. 4 Tennessee Volunteers is expected to be a great game between two College Football Playoff contenders. Georgia and Tennessee play at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 16. The Georgia-Tennessee game will be televised on ABC.

Georgia’s game against Tennessee is a potential elimination game for the Bulldogs. Georgia is also coming off a loss, so Klatt thinks that will give Georgia extra motivation heading into Saturday.

“Kirby (Smart) always gets his team ready when they’ve got this us against the world mentality,” said Klatt. “When they feel doubted when, they feel like their back is against the wall. Georgia is going to play better.”

Georgia is coming off a 28-10 loss to Ole Miss and has several injuries ahead of the Tennessee game. However, there’s no injury more notable than Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava’s concussion. Klatt does mention that he thinks Iamaleava will play.

“It’s still a veteran quarterback in Carson Beck that you would expect to start to play better. Beck has turned it over, this is staggering, 14 times in the last six games. That means that he’s turned the ball over more in the last six games than anybody in college football,” said Klatt.

Carson Beck did a better job of avoiding interceptions against Ole Miss and needs some help from his receivers and offensive line against Tennessee.

[lawrence-auto-related count=2]

Klatt, who played quarterback at Colorado, thinks the Georgia-Tennessee game will a low-scoring affair. Klatt has Tennessee covering the surprisingly large 10-point spread against Georgia, but he predicts Georgia will win.

Joel Klatt’s prediction: Georgia 20, Tennessee 17
