Lady Vols shut out Ohio State to end play in the Tennessee Invitational.

No. 8 Tennessee (18-4) defeated Ohio State (10-5), 11-0 in five innings, on Sunday at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The contest was part of the Tennessee Invitational.

Karlyn Pickens (9-2) started for the Lady Vols. She pitched five innings and recorded five strikeouts. Pickens totaled 73 pitches, including 48 strikes, against 18 batters.

Tennessee totaled nine hits against the Buckeyes, including two home runs by Sophia Nugent and Zaida Puni.

The Lady Vols will next play at Howard on Monday. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. EDT in Washington, D.C.

Tennessee will open Southeastern Conference play on Friday against Missouri at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. EDT (SEC Network+).

Saturday’s contest was part of the Tennessee Invitational.

Payton Gottshall (7-2) started for the Lady Vols and pitched 5.2 innings. She recorded six strikeouts, while allowing three hits and zero walks. Gottshall totaled 84 pitches, including 60 strikes, against 21 batters.

Karlyn Pickens pitched 1.1 innings in relief for the Lady Vols and recorded two strikeouts.

Tennessee totaled six hits in the contest to Ohio State’s three.

The Lady Vols and Buckeyes are slated to play on Sunday in the Tennessee Invitational. First pitch between Tennessee and Ohio State is scheduled for 1 p.m. EDT at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols run-ruled Missouri State (3-11), 16-0 in five innings. Tennessee also defeated South Dakota (10-11), 6-0, in game No. 2.

Laura Mealer went 3-for-3, recording three home runs and five RBIs, while Kiki Milloy went 3-for-4 with four runs and one RBI for Tennessee.

McKenna Gibson went 3-for-3, recording one double, four RBIs and two runs, while Zaida Puni went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run for the Lady Vols.

Tennessee’s Payton Gottshall (6-2) pitched four innings, recording five strikeouts. Charli Orsini pitched one inning and recorded one strikeout.

In game No. 2, Mealer and Puni each hit one home run, while Milloy went 2-for-4, recording one double, one RBI, one run and one stolen base.

Karlyn Pickens pitched a complete game for Tennessee, recording 13 strikeouts.

Lady Vols softball ends play in the Tennessee Classic with a shutout win.

No. 9 Tennessee (13-4) defeated Longwood (6-11), 7-0, on Monday to conclude play in the Tennessee Classic at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

Monday’s win is the fifth consecutive for the Lady Vols. Tennessee hit four home runs against Longwood.

Kiki Milloy went 2-for-4, recording one home run, two RBIs, two runs and one stolen base for Tennessee.

Rylie West went 2-for-4, recording one home run, two RBIs, two runs and one stolen base, while Zaida Puni went 2-for-3 with one home run, one double, one run and two RBIs.

Laura Meeler hit two extra-base hits, including one home run and one double, for Tennessee. She also recorded two RBIs.

Tennessee sophomore Karlyn Pickens pitched a complete game. She allowed one hit and two walks, while recording ten strikeouts.

Tennessee defeated Stetson (7-13) and Longwood (6-10).

The Lady Vols outlasted the Hatters, 3-2, and run-ruled the Lancers, 12-1.

Against Stetson, Destiny Rodriguez went 1-for-3 and hit a winning RBI on a solo home run in the sixth inning.

Kiki Milloy went 1-for-1, recording two runs, three stolen bases and one walk, while Rylie West went 1-for-2 for one double and one RBI.

Zaida Puni hit an RBI on a groudout for Tennessee.

Karlyn Pickens (6-2) pitched 2.1 innings of scoreless relief. She allowed one hit and one walk, while recording five strikeouts.

In Tennessee’s second game, the Lady Vols defeated the Lancers in five innings.

Milloy hit two home runs and recoded three RBIs, while West hit a grand slam and McKenna Gibson hit a two-run home run in the third inning.

No. 21 Baylor softball defeats Lady Vols in the Tennessee Invitational.

No. 21 Baylor (30-9, 2-4 Big 12) defeated No. 5 Tennessee (30-5, 10-2 SEC), 8-5,  Friday in the Tennessee Invitational at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols led, 1-0, in the first inning when Kiki Milloy hit a leadoff home run.

The Bears responded by scoring eight runs in the second inning.

Tennessee pulled to within, 8-2, in the third inning when Mackenzie Donihoo scored as McKenna Gibson grounded into a double play.

The Lady Vols scored three runs in the sixth inning. Gibson hit a solo home run and Katie Taylor hit an RBI double. Taylor scored the final run of the game on a single by Donihoo.

Gibson went 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Karlyn Pickens (7-4) pitched one inning. She allowed three hits, eight runs (seven earned) and four walks.

Charli Orsini pitched one inning and surrendered one hit for Tennessee. She recorded one strikeout.

No. 5 Tennessee (30-4, 10-2) split a pair of games on the first day of the Tennessee Invitational at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium Thursday.

The Lady Vols defeated Mercer (12-26, 3-6 SoCon), 11-0 in five innings, to open play. Tennessee lost to No. 21 Baylor (29-9, 2-4 Big 12), 1-0.

Payton Gottshall (8-0) and Nicola Simpson pitched a combined no-hitter for the Lady Vols in game No. 1. Gotshall pitched three innings and allowed two walks, k while recording four strikeouts. Simpson pitched two innings and recorded two strikeouts.

Lair Beautae went 2-for-3 for Tennessee. She recorded six RBIs, one triple, one home run and two runs.

Katie Taylor was 1-for-2, recording one double, one run and one RBI for Tennessee.

Tennessee scored six runs in the second inning versus Mercer.

Against Baylor, the Lady Vols were held to one hit, a single by Taylor.

Tennessee pitcher Ashley Rogers (11-1) allowed the game’s only run in the first inning. She suffered her first loss of the season.

Rogers pitched seven innings, allowing one run, three hits and one walk, while recoding eight strikeouts.

No. 5 Tennessee (30-4, 10-2 SEC) is hosting the Tennessee Invitational, Thursday and Friday, at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols defeated Mercer, 11-0, in game No. 1 Friday. Baylor defeated Tennessee, 1-0, in game No. 2.

Tennessee announced an updated schedule for the second day of the Tennessee Invitational.

Friday’s updated Tennessee Invitational schedule will consist of one game. The Lady Vols and Baylor will play at 1:20 p.m. EDT.

Tennessee is ranked No. 5 in the latest USA TODAY/NFCA Division I Coaches Poll entering Week 9 competition.

Following the Tennessee Invitational, the Lady Vols will play at Virginia Tech on April 11. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. EDT (ESPNU).

Updated schedule for Thursday, April 6:

10 a.m. EDT — Baylor versus Mercer
12:30 p.m. EDT — Tennessee versus Mercer
3:00 p.m. EDT — Tennessee versus Baylor
*Gates open at 9 a.m. EDT

Friday’s contests remain unchanged. The Lady Vols will play Baylor (12:30 p.m. EDT) and Mercer (3 p.m. EDT) on Friday.

No. 17 Tennessee (15-6) won five games in the Tennessee Invitational at Sherri Parker Lee Stadium.

The Lady Vols extended its winning streak to six games Sunday with a 5-0 victory over Virginia (12-9) in the championship game.

Tennessee opened its scoring in the second inning with an RBI single by Ivy Davis that plated McKenna Gibson.

Lair Beautae hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning. Kiki Milloy also hit a home run in the fourth inning.

Graduate transfer pitcher Erin Edmoundson (9-1) recorded a complete game. She gave up six hits, one walk and had seven strikeouts.

The Lady Vols had 10 hits against Virginia.

Tennessee opened tournament play with wins over Dartmouth and Virginia on Friday.

On Saturday, Tennessee defeated Dartmouth and South Alabama.
