Schools near Bills stadium to have half days on Monday

Schools near #Bills stadium to have half days on Monday ahead of the #Titans coming to town:

Congratulations to students at Orchard Park and Frontier High Schools.

You’re getting out of class early on Monday.

In Week 2, the Buffalo Bills host the Tennessee Titans in their home opener. The NFL also decided to double down.

That contest will be a Monday Night Football feature. But it’s the first of two kickoffs scheduled.

Typically prime-time football will begin after 8 p.m. Kickoff for Bills-Titans will be closer to 7 p.m.

That hour-ish makes all the difference with traffic and tailgaters. Because of that, it’s a half day for nearby schools.

The local school board might be upset.

Students probably won’t be and even Bills quarterback Josh Allen knows it will only help his team with kids.

Check out his thoughts on the school day change below:

Top throws by rookie quarterbacks in the 2022 NFL preseason

Touchdown Wire’s Laurie Fitzpatrick highlights the top throws made by the NFL’s rookie quarterbacks in their first preseasons.

Some are saying that the rookie quarterback class is outperforming their expectations so far this preseason. Although this may be true, the bar was set pretty low, as there was only one quarterback selected in the first round of this years’ draft — Pitt’s Kenny Pickett, selected with the 20th overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers. .

Most rookie quarterbacks, no matter their draft position, are more than capable of making at least one ‘wow’ throw when given a chance. It’s maintaining that success which makes the position tough.

Although none of these rookie quarterbacks are starters, they are still making it difficult for coaches to keep them on the sidelines. So, let’s jump right into it and highlight the best throws made by rookie quarterbacks throughout the NFL preseason!

Former MSU cornerback Shakur Brown waived by Tennessee Titans following injury

Shakur Brown waived by Tennessee Titans following injury

Shakur Brown has had a rough go of it since leaving Michigan State. The former Spartan cornerback has been unable to find a long-term home in the NFL since going undrafted in 2021.

Recently, he was making progress towards a roster spot with the Tennessee Titans, but it appears that a recent injury derailed that opportunity, and it was announced on Monday that Brown is no longer with the team.

NFL Schedule: 3 late season game the Eagles could have flexed to Sunday night

NFL Schedule: 3 late season games the Philadelphia Eagles could have flexed to Sunday night

The 2022 NFL schedule has been released and the Eagles landed five prime-time matchups amid a short-term rebuild that sees the organization returning to prominence after returning to the playoffs in 2021.

One reward that comes with playing good football and being relevant late in the season is the opportunity to have a less important matchup switched out in place of a matchup with significant meaning and postseason implications.

The formula was created by the NFL to prevent fans from having to sit through meaningless football late in the season.

During the 2022 season, flexible scheduling for Sunday night may be used twice between Weeks 5–10, Weeks 11–15, and Week 17. In those select flex scheduling weeks, the games listed for the Sunday night window are tentative and subject to change.

In Week 18, two Sat. p.m. and Sun. p.m. games will be announced no later than Jan. 3.

With the Eagles facing five NFC teams in their final five and three within the division, here are the games that could be flexed to prime time.

Titans planning to release WR Julio Jones, per report

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini are reporting that the Titans are expected to release former Falcons WR Julio Jones.

One year after the Atlanta Falcons shipped All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones off to the Tennessee Titans, it appears the Falcons have officially won the Julio Jones trade.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini are reporting that the Titans are expected to release Jones, the player they gave up a second-round pick to acquire last offseason.

Tennessee is expected to release Jones with a post-June 1 designation, saving the team roughly $9.5 million in cap space.

Jones, who is still the Falcons’ all-time leader in receiving yards, would be a great candidate to return to Atlanta in 2022 since the team just lost both Russell Gage and Calvin Ridley.

During his ten seasons with the Falcons, Jones racked up 848 catches, 12,896 receiving yard and 60 touchdowns.

Titans’ tremendous radio call on 4th-and-1 stop: ‘Yes … Not yes … Not yes … Hell yes’

A tremendous radio call by the Tennessee Titans’ announcers

The Tennessee Titans pulled off a goal-line stand, stopping Josh Allen on fourth-and-1 to hold on for a 34-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football.

The game saw seven league changes, the same amount that happened on a Monday night in 2008 when the Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Dallas Cowboys.

The Titans’ radio booth was pumped by the victory, to say the least.

Give a listen to Mike Keith –“The Voice of the Titans” — and analyst Dave McGinnis.

That would be “He did not make that. He did not make that.

“We got it. They got it. They did it. They did it.

“Yes. Not yes. Not yes. Hell yes.”

Derrick Henry’s involvement in passing attack may not be a fluke

History shows us that Titans OC Todd Downing isn’t afraid to throw to his backs.

Through his first five seasons in the NFL, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has primarily made a name for himself for his work on the ground. The NFL’s leading rusher in 2019 and 2020 has a combination of size and speed that makes game planning for a nightmare.

And after two weeks, the former Heisman winner leads the league in carries (52) and rushing yards (240), aided by a 35-carry, 182-yard performance in Sunday’s overtime win in Seattle.

But a closer look at his statistics shows that the Titans are perhaps trying to get Henry even more involved in the offense.

Through the first two games, the 27-year-old has nine receptions for 74 yards. To this point, Henry’s career-high is 19 receptions, set last season.

“Derrick caught all the ones that we threw to him and really that allowed us to get usually a first down,” head coach Mike Vrabel said to the media on Monday. “His ability to catch the football and get up north and south in those checkdown opportunities is good.”

The uptick in receptions coincided with the team promoting former tight ends coach Todd Downing to offensive coordinator, replacing Arthur Smith in late January.

Downing’s last opportunity as an offensive coordinator came in 2017 with the then-Oakland Raiders, where running backs Marshawn Lynch, DeAndre Washington, and Jalen Richard accounted for approximately 23 percent of the team’s total receptions.

Clearly Downing likes to throw to his backs, which could mean that Henry’s career-high six catches were more than just an aberration.

The Titans, who finished in the bottom half of the league in passing yards in 2020, have been looking to provide quarterback Ryan Tannehill with more weapons.

The addition of Julio Jones this offseason will provide a significant boost, as the 32-year-old hauled in six catches for 128 yards on Sunday. But Henry can also be a valuable asset out of the backfield, as he proved on Sunday.

Henry has historically never been a big-time receiver — even dating back to his days at Alabama — but he has a 90 percent catch rate with an average 8.2 yards per reception in the early goings of the 2021 season.

Henry and the Titans will host the Colts on Sunday, a defense allowing 10.0 yards-per-attempt so far.

NFL Draft: Four potential fits for Texas QB Sam Ehlinger

Four potential fits for Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger ahead of the 2021 NFL draft.

The 2021 NFL draft is just a few days away and there could potentially be five or six quarterbacks taken off of the board in the first round.

When it comes to Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger, his draft stock has seemingly been all over the place. It now looks more likely that he won’t be drafted until day three as a backup/developmental quarterback.

Ehlinger has showcased adequate arm strength, mobility and leadership that teams look for in a quarterback. However, he lacks consistent accuracy down the field and near the sidelines and also comes from an offense that was run-heavy.

There are still several NFL organizations that would welcome his level of maturity, knowledge and skillset to their franchise. Especially if they’re in desperate need of depth or have a starting quarterback with similar, positive traits.

Based on scheme and fit, here are four teams that I believe would be the best fit him at the next level:
