Taylor Hall trade: Who won the Blackhawks and Bruins deal?

Taylor Hall is headed to Chicago as Boston gets some much-needed cap space.

The 2023 NHL offseason is now in full swing. While it’s been a quiet few weeks since the Stanley Cup Final ended, chaos is back on the menu as teams gear up for the upcoming draft and start of free agency.

On Monday, the Boston Bruins dealt Taylor Hall to the Chicago Blackhawks in a shake up for both sides. The Blackhawks are set to pick No. 1 overall in Wednesday’s draft while the Bruins are coming off a historic regular season that ended in disaster after a first-round exit.

Which teams were the big winners and losers of the 2021 NHL trade deadline?

The music has stopped on the 2021 NHL trade deadline and the players have found their respective chairs. Monday’s trade deadline was not at all an exciting one in the NHL this year, for reasons varying from the flat salary cap to the upcoming expansion draft.

Though deadline day was underwhelming, the last few weeks as a whole have seen some interesting shuffling between the teams as organizations prepare for playoff runs or look toward the upcoming draft.

2021 NHL trade deadline: Grading the major deals

It’s time for a report card on the NHL’s biggest trade deadline deals.

The 2021 NHL trade deadline has passed and it was… well it was certainly a day! In total, 17 deals were made on deadline day itself, a very slow moving morning and afternoon after the majority of the trades were made over the weekend or in the early morning hours on Monday.

It was as many suspected it would be, a slow deadline day with teams mostly unable to make major splashes thanks to the flat cap and the impending expansion draft for Seattle in the upcoming summer.

Still, there were some big trades that caused some waves — some expected and some, not so much. Let’s break down the 2021 NHL trade deadline’s biggest deals and give them grades based on our early, gut feelings.

Sabres’ Taylor Hall gives a ‘Go Bills’ shoutout (video)

Buffalo Sabres winger Taylor Hall signed and gave a “Go Bills” shoutout.

The NHL’s Buffalo Sabres signed the one of the biggest names on the free agent market this week… and he’s already finding himself a seat on the Bills Mafia bandwagon.

Forward Taylor Hall inked a contract with the Sabres, the hockey team also owned by Bills owners Terry and Kim Pegula. Prior to actually jumping on his introductory press conference with the local media, Hall did a quick video which turned out to be one for all western New York sports fans, not just the hockey folks.

Hall said he wanted to take part in the Bills fan tradition of jumping through a folding table, but instead he kept it simple. He’s already learning that in WNY, you don’t say goodbye to people, you give a “Go Bills.”

That’s exactly what Hall brushed off. Check out the video via the Sabres here:
