10 Bills greats nominated for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025

10 Bills greats nominated for Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025

The nominations for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025 were announced on social media Wednesday by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Of the 167 players nominated for the HOF, 10 Buffalo Bills players made the list: Larry Centers, Marshawn Lynch, Ruben Brown, Pat Williams, Cornelius Bennett, London Fletcher, Takeo Spikes, Troy Vincent, Gary Anderson, and Brian Moorman.

Some of the names most notably played for other franchises, but all made an impact for the Bills in some way. And, most of them have been nominated for many years without ever reaching football immortality.

Seeing a lot of them get into the HOF would be great, but a few names stand out as some that are more deserving.

Lynch, although he will most likely enter the HOF as a Seattle Seahawks running back, has a real shot to be a first-ballot selection.

Fletcher was selected as a semifinalist for the HOF in 2024, meaning he made it to the top-25 of finalists. The linebacker has not gotten the nod yet. His numbers in his career can be stacked up with just about anyone.

Moorman should get more love from the HOF committee. The punter was one of the best special teams players in the 2000s decade, making the All-Decade team while being a weapon for the Bills at punter. He was also a 1st Team All-Pro.

A couple of fun ones would be Cornelius Bennett and Larry Centers. Bennett was an integral part of the Bills’ defense in the early 90s which went to four consecutive Super Bowls. Centers, although he only played two years in Buffalo, would shine some light on the forgotten fullback position in the NFL. Centers led the Bills in receptions in 2001 with 80.

Here is the full list of the 167 nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2025.

SEC Network CFB analyst Takeo Spikes has complete faith in a Texas A&M rebound in 2023

SEC Network CFB analyst Takeo Spikes is all in on Texas A&M rebounding in 2023, starting and ending with QB Conner Weigman.

Inevitably, Texas A&M’s 2023 football season is already filled with doubt after what we all witnessed in 2022, culminating in a 5-7 (2-6 SEC) misery train that had all of us who cover the program wondering how Jimbo Fisher and Co. would respond after what has been a successful offseason thus far. Still, as we all know, results on the field are all that matter from now on.

After the usual hoe hum of SEC Media Days last week, former start Auburn linebacker and current SEC Network CFB analyst Takeo Spikes is a firm believer in Texas A&M’s chances at not only rebounds from their five-win season but making some serious noise in what could be a somewhat down year in the SEC West.

I’m still a believer,” Spikes stated while appearing on SEC Now Monday. “I believe in Conner Weigman. I really do believe in him. You look at what he did over the last four games: eight touchdowns, no interceptions, did not turn the football over.”

Entering Jimbo Fisher’s sixth season with the program, the quarterback postion has been a continual question mark, especially in recruiting, as former Aggie signal caller Haynes King’s once bright future took a turn for the worst as injuries and poor play led to his offseason transfer to Georgia Tech, leading to the ascendance of former five-star prospect Conner Weigman’s coming out party in the latter half of last season.

Appearing in five games, Weigman threw for 896 yards and eight touchdowns without an interception for a 132.3 passer rating, taking over for an injured Max Johnson while going 2-2 as a starter.

After ending the season with a rousing 38-24 win over the then No.5-ranked LSU Tigers, Fisher’s confidence in Weigman and Johnson will make its way to fall camp next month. Still, as things stand, Conner Weigman’s high ceiling and end-of-season momentum bode well for his chances to open the 2023 campaign as the starter and hopefully provide an instant offensive spark behind new offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino’s play-calling debut.

4 former Eagles have been nominated for 2024 College Football Hall of Fame

4 former Philadelphia Eagles have been nominated for 2024 College Football Hall of Fame

Former All-Pro quarterback Michael Vick is among four former Eagles players nominated for induction to the College Football Hall of Fame for the first time this year.

Former Philadelphia defensive tackle and Miami Hurricane legend Jerome Brown also made the list.

The National Football Foundation released Monday a list of 78 players and nine coaches from major college football who are on the Hall of Fame ballot. One hundred-one player and 32 coaches from lower divisions of college football are also up for consideration.

Vick, who led Virginia Tech to the BCS championship game against Florida State as a redshirt freshman in 1999, is among the most notable players appearing on the ballot in his first year of eligibility.

  • There were a handful of requirements to make the ballot.
  • You must have been named a First-Team All-American during your playing days.
  • A minimum of 10 years must have passed since your final season of college football. No more than 50 years can have passed since your last college football game.
  • Post-football records and academic record matters.

College coaches can become nominated three years after retirement, but active coaches can be selected if they reach 75.

Votes will be submitted to the NFF’s Honors Courts. They’ll deliberate and decide on the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame class, with an announcement slated for early January.
