Where do Alvin Kamara’s 73 touchdowns rank in NFL history?

Where do Alvin Kamara’s 73 touchdowns rank in NFL history? The Saints’ star running back has joined rare company:

Alvin Kamara didn’t just make New Orleans Saints franchise history with his touchdown run against the New England Patriots last week — he earned his place in the NFL record books, too. Kamara hit the end zone for the 73rd time in his 90-game career, putting him in a four-way tie to rank 96th in league history. And he’s distinguished himself among some rare company.

Kamara is the only player in that group to score this many touchdowns with a single team, and he’s also done it in the fewest games among his peers. Here’s how they stack up:

  • Alvin Kamara: 90 games with one team
  • Brian Westbrook: 121 games with two teams
  • Roger Craig: 165 games with three teams
  • Stanley Morgan: 196 games with two teams

Westbrook was a Philadelphia Eagles fan-favorite who helped modernize the running back position in an increasingly pass-focused league, finishing his career with the San Francisco 49ers; where Roger Craig earned all sorts of accolades earlier in his career in the 1980’s. Morgan won multiple Pro Bowls during his 13-year New England Patriots career and still played at a high level in his final season on the Indianapolis Colts. Altogether this group of three earned 10 Pro Bowl nods and two spots on the All-Pro first team.

And Kamara might be the best among them. He’s on a hotter pace at an earlier point in his career. He’s also under contract through 2025, so if he can maintain his pace (easier said than done without Drew Brees throwing to him) and continue to average about 14 games per year, he should cross the century mark while he’s still wearing a Saints uniform. That’s something just a few running backs have done before, and many of them are Hall of Famers.

But we’re looking too far ahead. For now all Kamara needs to worry about is helping his team score enough touchdowns to put away an overachieving Houston Texans team on Sunday. Still, it’s worth taking time to acknowledge his achievements. Here’s to many more of them.

“The draft starts in Mobile,” and the Eagles have done a fantastic job of amassing talent via the Reese’s Senior Bowl.

Five of Philadelphia’s nine 2021 draft picks came from the event: DeVonta Smith, Landon Dickerson, Marlon Tuipulotu, Tarron Jackson, and JaCoby Stevens.

In 2022, Cam Jurgens (2nd), Kyron Johnson (6), and Grant Calcaterra (6) all competed in the game before being drafted by the Eagles.

Since Howie Roseman regained personnel control in 2016, the Eagles have drafted 50 players, and 19 have been on a Senior Bowl roster.

Five players from the past who could have thrived in today’s NFL

From Kordell Stewart to Julian Peterson, Natalie Miller identifies five players from the past who could succeed wildly in today’s NFL.

It’s too often that we see intriguing players come out of college with unique skillsets that were failed to be maximized at the next level in this league. Or they were good players, but could have been even better in a league with an emphasis on creative play calling, gadget plays, and versatility. In the past players were seen as ‘tweeners’ or their ability was too different from what the league demanded at the time.

Today we look at five players, who if entering the league as a rookie this season, could have thoroughly dominated with the creative minds in the modern NFL.

Brian Westbrook explains what makes this Eagles team so dominant

USA TODAY Sports sits down with Eagles legend Brian Westbrook to preview the upcoming Super Bowl LVII.

Brian Westbrook says this season’s Eagles team has it all.

The two-time Pro Bowler, and member of the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame, now sees a Philly offense which like him, could punish opponents in multiple ways.

“They have the ability to run the ball with the quarterback; they have the ability to run the ball with the running back, they have been able to block every front that is designed to stop the run,” said Westbrook, a member of the Eagles 75th anniversary team.

“Then when you look at the passing game you can affect the team on all three levels – the short game, the medium game, and the deep game. They have been able to score on all three levels.”

Westbrook also noted the strong connection between Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown, comparing them to Philadelphia legends Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens.

The diminutive former Eagle was a dual threat – as a runner, having two 1200-yard seasons, and as a pass catcher. He posted 600+ yard receiving seasons four times.

Eagles great Brian Westbrook wonders aloud why Sixers let Jimmy Butler go

Philadelphia Eagles great Brian Westbrook is wondering why the Philadelphia 76ers let Jimmy Butler walk.

Once again, people are asking why? Why did the Philadelphia 76ers let Jimmy Butler leave for the Miami Heat after just half a season in the City of Brotherly Love?

The Sixers let Butler go and they replaced him with Al Horford and Josh Richardson–who are fine players–and they were swept in Round 1 by the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, Butler is leading the Heat to some big wins in the playoffs including another one on Tuesday night when he lifted the team to a 117-114 overtime win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals over those same Celtics.

Philadelphia Eagles great Brian Westbrook was watching the game and he had some questions on Twitter. Like why did the Sixers let Butler go when it is clear that the team needed a closer and a leader?

The Sixers are still a talented team. Led by Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid, the team can easily bounce back with everybody healthy just because of how great those two young players are. However, it is clear that they are missing Butler’s presence at this moment in time. [lawrence-related id=37679,37673,37670]
