Dee Snider-endorsed petition for AC/DC to play Super Bowl halftime picks up steam

Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider has lent his name to a cause that wants AC/DC to play halftime of Super Bowl LV.

Dee Snider wants AC/DC to play halftime of Super Bowl LV. The lead singer of Twisted Sister has backed a petition to try and get the Australian rock band the gig for next year’s game, which is scheduled to be played Feb. 7 at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium.

Snider took to Instagram to deliver his message to Commissioner Roger Goodell after the petition appeared on Change.org this month.

“There are a lot of bands that are stadium-worthy and a lot of bands that have sold hundreds of millions of records,” Snider said. “But the one band that I think has such crossover appeal to so many people in all genres is AC/DC.”

The catalyst for the movement is Gina Dilecce.

“It’s been a while since we’ve had some real metal play the halftime show for the Super Bowl,” she wrote in the online plea’s description. “Don’t get me wrong, all music artists have done a great job and should play the show, but we all need a turn.”

The appeal continues, “It’s time for some rock and roll! And who better than AC/DC to play? They are coming back together, making a new album and possibly touring again. This would be perfect! Come together, metalheads, and get this going! Dee Snider of Twisted Sister is with us!”

Football is a game of heavy hits so AC/DC’s metal music would be in tune with the Super Bowl.

If you want to join the cause, you can sign the petition by clicking here. As of this writing, more than 8,600 people have signed with the goal being 10,000.

Here’s a taste of AC/DC with the band’s anthemic “Highway to Hell.”
