The struggling Blues seem like the perfect team for the Devils to end the home losing streak. The favorite is 10-3 in the last 13 meetings and the Devils open as the narrow favorite here. But it will cost you nearly twice your money.

Puck line/Against the spread

BET BLUES +1.5 (-150).

This is you best bet for this game. The Blues are a tough team that is very  competitive despite this being a down season by their standards, so never count this squad out. The Blues have owned this matchup as of late and combine that with the Devils recent struggles at home and this will be a matchup that St. Louis will keep close.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 6.5 (-110).

The Over is the stronger play because of the Blues’ recent history, but the Under is stronger for the Devils. The Over is 4-1 in the Blues last 5 games playing on 1 day of rest, but the under is 5-1 in the Devil’s last 6 games vs. the Central Division. I lean toward the Over since the Devils have been playing very poorly at home and are playing the 2nd game of a back-to-back and fatigue may be a factor.

The JETS (-115) is a sharp value play on the road, as Hellebuyck and the Winnipeg offense has been on fire, while Binnington and the Blues (-105) defense has been an absolute train wreck.

St. Louis clubbed the Islanders Tuesday in the 2nd end of a back-to-back set in New York, and backup Thomas Greiss was no relief, allowing 4 goals. However, the Blues offense did go for 7 goals, but they won’t come close to that against the white-hot Hellebuyck.

Puck line/Against the spread

When the line was the Jets -1.5 (+185) it might have been worth a roll of the dice on the road to give you a chance to nearly double up. But when the line shifted to Jets +1.5 (-280), it’s a PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 6.5 (-105) is the best play on the board, not just for this game, but for the entire NHL card.

Binnington and the Blues have stunk lately, and the Jets offense has been running amok, going for 28 total goals across the past 6 outings. The ISLANDERS (-155) is a moderate favorite worth playing, and it’s a bit surprising the line is so low given the recent struggles of the Blues (+135).

St. Louis just played Monday, so that’s working against it, and the Blues have coughed up 6 goals in each of the last 3 games. There is nothing to like about St. Louis, especially working on no rest.

Puck line/Against the spread

The ISLANDERS -1.5 (+145) puck line is worth playing lightly. The Blues +1.5 (-190) have dropped 4 in a row, and it has lost by 2 or more goals in 6 of the last 7 games.

If you like New York to win, you should like it to win by at least 2 goals here, especially against former Islanders backstop Greiss.

Over/Under

With Georgiev in net, the Avalanche are the clear better team. They have not lost since Oct. 29 and in this time, they also have not won by less than 2 goals. Take Colorado -1.5 (+115) as my favorite play.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 6.5 (-135).

The Avalanche have been scoring in bunches lately. Since Oct. 29, they have not scored less than 4 goals in any game. But the Blues, although winning have been limited in their scoring. With Georgiev and his 2.66 GAA in net, I look for St. Louis to have some trouble scoring. The Avalanche will get to 4 but I see the Blues only getting to 2. Which leads me to favoring the Under.

All streaks must come to an end, and while I’m not rushing out to throw money at the Blues making the playoffs, I think they jell together enough to sneak by in this one — possibly in overtime. There’s too much talent on this team to continue its dysfunction.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Flyers +1.5 (-220) is well out of my price range, and if St. Louis can get a lead, they have a good shot at an empty-netter.

Over/Under

This number is too high. St. Louis is 5-4-1 O/U, and Philadelphia is just 5-6-0. St. Louis has a league-worst 22 goals on the season, and Philly is just above them with 28. Both sides have had solid goaltending. I’ll be pretty happy to take the UNDER 6.5 (-120).

This is your best bet in this game,  but it will cost you. The Islanders are a solid team that is on a very hot streak to this point. Whether the Islanders win or lose they should be able to make this game close and cover the spread against a Blues team that has been struggling over the last week or so.

LEAN OVER 5.5 (-140)

This bet has a fair amount of risk involved. Sorokin does not allow many goals and when you look at his goals allowed per game compared to Bennington’s, the averages would tell you that the under is actually safer. I disagree, however, and believe the Blues will need to be able to score goals if they want to win this game and in their losses this season the Islanders have always allowed 3+ goals to be scored on them.
