St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s St. Louis Blues at Philadelphia Flyers odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The St. Louis Blues (3-7-0) clash with the Philadelphia Flyers (6-3-2) Tuesday at Wells Fargo Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Blues vs. Flyers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Blues dropped their 7th game in a row Monday against the Boston Bruins (3-1), but there were some positives to take out of it. They’ve been plagued by turnovers and spotty defensive work, and they were undone by 2 power-play goals while failing to come through on 3 power plays of their own. It was a close game until the end, and they have the solace of hanging with a tough team on the road.

Philadelphia is another tough matchup as it’s 3-1-1 on home ice. The Flyers have allowed 28 goals and scored 28 goals – both the fewest in the Metropolitan Division. They ended a 3-game skid with a 2-1 victory at the Ottawa Senators Saturday.

Blues at Flyers projected goalies

Thomas Greiss (0-2-0, 3.28 GAA, .915 SV%, 0 SO) vs. Carter Hart (6-0-2, 1.97 GAA, .946 SV%, 0 SO)

Greiss was great in his first start of the season against the Winnipeg Jets, stopping 39 of 42 shots, but was pummeled by the Nashville Predators in his next turn, allowing 5 goals on 41 shots. He came on in relief duty 8 days ago and stopped all 11 shots he saw against the Los Angeles Kings. Greiss beat the Flyers last season, stopping 32 of 34 shots.

What a start to the season by Hart, who is 3rd in GAA and 2nd in SV % in the league. He has stopped 68 of the 70 shots he has faced over his last 2 starts. At 24 years old, he has really come into his own as he has yet to be defeated in regulation.

Blues at Flyers picks and predictions

Prediction

Blues 3, Flyers 2

Moneyline

All streaks must come to an end, and while I’m not rushing out to throw money at the Blues making the playoffs, I think they jell together enough to sneak by in this one — possibly in overtime. There’s too much talent on this team to continue its dysfunction.

Take the BLUES (-130).

Puck line/Against the spread

The Flyers +1.5 (-220) is well out of my price range, and if St. Louis can get a lead, they have a good shot at an empty-netter.

PASS.

Over/Under

This number is too high. St. Louis is 5-4-1 O/U, and Philadelphia is just 5-6-0. St. Louis has a league-worst 22 goals on the season, and Philly is just above them with 28. Both sides have had solid goaltending. I’ll be pretty happy to take the UNDER 6.5 (-120).
