Massive early odds favor Ohio State over Northwestern

Ohio State is a heavy, massive favorite over Northwestern in early odds. #GoBucks

It’s that time of the week when we get the early odds for the college football games that will be taking place this weekend, and if you found our site or are a loyal reader, we’re sure you are interested in what the line has been set for Ohio State football’s matchup with Northwestern on Saturday.

As you would imagine, Ohio State is favored very, very heavily against arguably one of the worst teams in college football this year. We get our odds from Tipico, and the popular online sportsbook has the early odds with Ohio State being a massive -38.5 favorite.

That’s a huge number even with the game being in the friendly confines of “Chicago’s Big Ten team,” but it probably makes sense. Northwestern has just one win on the season and it took place across the pond in Ireland when the Wildcats beat Scott Frost’s Nebraska Cornhuskers.

We’ll keep an eye on these odds as we go throughout the week, but for now, that’s where things stand.

Colorado vs. Arizona State: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

The Buffs might be an attractive underdog in this one

The Colorado Buffaloes play the Arizona State Sun Devils on Saturday, Oct. 29, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds, and over/under numbers, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game starts at 5:30 p.m. MT and can be seen on ESPNU.

It has been a rough season for both the Buffaloes and the Sun Devils as they come into the contest with only three wins combined. The Sun Devils are coming off a frustrating one-point loss to the Stanford Cardinal while Colorado is licking its wounds after being physically overpowered by the Oregon State Beavers.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Iowa Hawkeyes: Odds stay stagnant

Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Ohio State Buckeyes: @Tipico odds stay stagnant #GoBucks

The Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0) will kick off their seventh game of the season against the Iowa Hawkeyes (3-3) at noon ET on Oct. 22 in Columbus, Ohio. This series has been very interesting. The home team has gone 5-2, but 3-3-1 against the spread, during the last seven contests.

Our friends at Tipico, our official odds provider, have Ohio State listed as a mighty large 29.5-point favorite with the total points set at 49.5. We covered that this opened up at 29.5 at the beginning of the week and there has been no movement.

This number has ranged between 28-points and 30-points at various books, which doesn’t seem like a huge gap, but that 28-point mark is a key number. Most pundits have mentioned that they felt this number was high, which also makes it odd that we haven’t seen it lowered at any point.

The total in this contest also hasn’t budged at all as it sits at 49.5-points. You can catch 50-points at some books, but half of a point shouldn’t be a determining factor.

Colorado vs. Oregon State: Prediction, point spread, odds, best bet

Colorado is currently a 23.5-point underdog against Oregon State

The Colorado Buffaloes play the Oregon State Beavers on Oct. 22, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over-under numbers, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet at Tipico Sportsbook.

The game starts at 6 p.m. MT and can be seen on the Pac-12 Network.

Colorado is riding high with interim head coach Mike Sanford following the Buffs’ first win of the season last week against the California Golden Bears. But can they keep the momentum going in Corvallis?

Oregon State has moved into the upper end of the Pac-12, standing at 5-2 after a big home win against the Washington State Cougars. The Beavers will now look to protect their home field against a newly motivated CU squad.

Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Ohio State Buckeyes opening odds

Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Ohio State Buckeyes @tipico opening odds #GoBucks

On October 22, the Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0) will kick off their seventh game of the season against the Iowa Hawkeyes (3-3) at 12:00 p.m. ET in Columbus, Ohio. This series has been very interesting with the home team going 5-2 straight-up, but 3-3-1 against the spread during the last seven contests.

Our friends at Tipico, our official odds provider, currently have Ohio State listed as a mighty large 29.5-point favorite with the total points set at 49.5. This seems like a large spread, but Ohio State has done well in this series winning 13 of the last 15 match-ups and going 9-5-1 against the spread during that time.

It should be noted that the last time these two teams met was in 2017 and our beloved Buckeyes lost 55-24 despite being an 18-point favorite at the time.

Time for our writers to give their predictions and picks for all the Big Ten games and the best six of the national games for Week 6 of the CFP season. #B1G

Every year (and every week of the CFB season) we have a little friendly competition among our writers for world domination when it comes to picking Big Ten and some of the bigger college football games.

We’ll bring you our expert picks and predictions on all the league games against the spread, and straight-up throughout the season. We’ll even give you what you didn’t know you wanted with six of the best non-Big Ten games known as our “Pick Six” now that we’ve entered the conference part of the schedule. As an added note, if there’s a tie with any of the picks, George Washington decides it via the old-fashioned coin flip.

As a reminder, if there’s an asterisk next to the pick, that means the team will win, but not cover.

EXAMPLE:
– If you think Ohio State will win minus-3.5 over an opponent: OSU
– If you think Ohio State will win outright: OSU
– If you think Ohio State will win, but NOT cover: OSU*

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans opening odds

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Michigan State Spartans @Tipico opening odds #GoBucks

On October 9, the Ohio State Buckeyes (5-0) will kick off their sixth game of the season against the Michigan State Spartans (2-3) at 4:00 p.m. ET in East Lansing, Michigan. The Buckeyes have had some great success in this series going 15-3 in the last 18 contests.

Our friends at Tipico, our official odds provider, currently have Ohio State listed as a mighty large 25.5-point favorite with the total points set at 64.5. This seems like a large spread, but as discussed above, Ohio State has done well in this series and in addition to going 15-3 straight-up, the Buckeyes are also 12-6 against the spread in that same stretch.

This line may seem large, but Ohio State is explosive and own Michigan State after winning six in a row and topping the spread five times in a row.

Ranking SEC quarterbacks after Week 5: New No. 1 as Stetson Bennett slides

Stetson Bennett slides in our latest SEC QB rankings

Following an exciting Week 5 in the Southeastern Conference, I have plenty of movement in my updated SEC quarterback rankings.

For starters, Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett is no longer my top passer in the conference after another subpar showing. In fact, he’s not even my No. 2. That means Alabama quarterback Bryce Young, who is day-to-day after hurting his shoulder against Arkansas, moves up along with Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker.

Mississippi State’s Will Rogers rises after another big game. He ranks No. 3 in the Football Bowl Subdivision in passing yards and No. 1 in passing touchdowns. Kentucky’s Will Levis did himself no favors with a bad game against Ole Miss, and KJ Jefferson’s ranking took a hit after an inefficient outing against ‘Bama.

Ranking Heisman Trophy contenders after Week 5 of college football

Ranking the top 25 Heisman contenders after Week 5 – We had to drop Stetson a little after Saturday’s game.

In most cases, the Heisman Trophy is a quarterback’s award. Alabama quarterback Bryce Young looks to repeat in 2022 but he has stiff competition from Ohio State’s CJ Stroud, USC’s Caleb Williams, Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker and Georgia’s Stetson Bennett – despite a subpar game from the reining national title winner over the weekend.

This week’s rankings include guys who are putting up wild numbers. Players like Illinois running back Chase Brown, Minnesota running back Mohamed Ibrahim, Old Dominion wide receiver Ali Jennings III, Purdue receiver Charlie Jones, UCLA quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and Kansas State’s Adrian Martinez. Georgia tight end Brock Bowers continues to rise as well. And let’s not forget about the defensive studs like Arkansas linebacker Drew Sanders and Alabama’s Will Anderson, who both faced off against each other this past weekend.

If you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We are diving into our favorite picks against the spread for this week, but if you are looking for more information or to place a bet check out Tipico Sportsbook.

Last week we were horrible at 3-5 and that brought our season total down to 21-18, which makes our winning percentage too small at 53%. The goal for the season is 55%. We are already off to a rough start as I watch BYU struggle with Utah State, but I’ll try to rip off some big wins for us on the Saturday slate.
